  1. WHOA...Yeah I'd say pretty good size for sure!! Nice pics!
  2. Congrats, that's a great bird!!
  3. Actually that small tree in the photo, there's some over hanging branches over the scrapes, just not in the picture...Seen a couple scrapes like that elsewhere on the property. Guess a buck is keeping a good eye on his "hood".
  4. But it stinks when you feel like one:hammer2: Long story short...Apparently working at camp last summer for 8 weeks, I was suppose to report my income change to my health insurance (through the state), but I didn't think 8 weeks was something to report, I was thinking once I had a consistent-ish job, like my RN job now. Well get a thing in the mail yesterday I've been fined $836 for not reporting my change of income... Well they already made one mistake because the paper says from July 1-Sept. 30...I was getting paid at camp from June 11-August 22...And I don't know how they came up with the fees I'm suppose to pay because I had no medical bills at all during the summer. So tomorrow morning I'm calling the person at least to get some clarification and tell them it was an honest mistake, I wasn't trying to cheat the system. But still I'm worried that they think I'm commiting fraud or something and I don't want this to be on some record and hurt me the rest of my life:no: Trying not to think about it but it's got me worried anyway. Praying it all gets settled tomorrow... They must be trying to get all the $$ they can since NY's budget is in the pits...:hammer2:
  5. Looky Chris...na na na na, lol http://www.wildportraits.com/roan/20000708405750.JPG
  6. This is from today, H.S. Undertaker Choke, Mossberg 500 20 ga. Super Bantam, TruGlo Red Dot, and Federal MagShok #5. Target in the left of the photo was @ 25 yards, with 51 holes in the circle on the head, didn't even count the ones in the neck:gunsmilie: Target on the right was at 30 yards, with 32 holes in the circle on the head, didn't even count the neck holes:gun2: Pretty good for a 20 ga if you ask me! I think I'm all set for those gobblers...No wonder the last 2 spring seasons, both gobblers got dropped around 30 yards:D
  7. Pulled the Mossberg 500 20ga. Super Bantam out of the closet. Grabbed some shells, put up my target. Had the Red Dot scope on it from last year (actually took it off to use the barrel for deer). Well still dead on! Will post my pattern photos....shot at 25 yards and 30 yards and I have to say I'm impressed still....only took about 6 shots which for me, patterning, is really good:o Just wondering, should I clean the barrel again or leave it like it is? I had cleaned it awhile ago before I put it in the closet. I'm not sure if cleaning it again could alter the pattern any???
  8. Awesome bird and congrats!! Sad but not for long! I'd rather be done the first day then struggle all season and not tag out,lol Nice spurs on him
  9. Way to go!! Great bird and job well done! Great bird for you and dad to be proud of!
  10. That's a tension headache...May be what I had... Sounds like it but my nose has been running the last 2 days, lol. Thinking combination of tension headache from that computer training and maybe some allergies to the high pollen
  11. Was out yesterday AM to listen for gobbles (nada). Took a walk down through the woods along an old logging trail now turned into snowmobile trail, to go check my trail cam. A bird flew right up from the bank of the trail, a Junco, and I knew right away there was a nest somewhere in there, as a couple summers ago I found one at camp. It sat up in a tree scolding me, I kept looking and finally, right up under the bank I found it;) Then over by my trail cam I found 2 fresh scrapes...Actually I noticed them a week ago, and they had been rescraped pretty recently again...I dunno if it's some young buck practicing or what...Never seen scrapes in spring but there's a first for everything:camera:
  12. Great pics Mike! Lots of flies from those feathers, lol
  13. Because it's not a Hoyt...LOL (jk) I'd take it to a shop and get it checked....something could be loose...Check the quiver...I know on mine, if the quiver isn't set in the bracket just right, I can hear a slight noise at the shot from it...
  14. In the process of getting a new hunting jacket and pair of pants...I found a ton of great deals on more camo and such...At www.wingsupply.com Check it out if you are looking for anything at a good deal, I've bought from them before. I'm getting my X-mas shopping done early:1eye: lol
  15. Good luck! Youth season here in NY as well...looks like they'll be rained out Sunday though.
  16. Sure is dead beat in here lately.... You ladies all staying busy?? Anyone out turkey hunting?
  17. Yeah, no kidding...wonder if it's rigged,lol:eat:
  18. Stearn's Mad Dog hunting clothing...how is it? I need a new jacket and found a Mad Dog Dead Silent Plus Jacket w/ 100 gram insulation on sale for $30...My Cabela's jacket zipper died on me... Anyway would use it for turkey hunting and early archery most likely....Is their clothing decent, quiet???
  19. LOL XT!!! hee hee Ok, I swear I am getting up tomorrow AM to go listen for birds....Maybe go up back then walk over and check the trail cam while out and about...Saturday maybe hit the state land...course it's the youth season but I'm running out of time...At least try to pinpoint where they are roosting.
