  1. How many of you ladies like to fish besides hunting? what do you typically fish for? anyone fly fish? I've fished way longer than I've hunted, and last spring I took up fly fishing which is alot of fun, minus learning knots and such. I like to fish mainly for trout and steelhead sometimes, but the occasional bass is fun also.
  2. Re: Need advice for lady hunter I shoot a Mossberg 500 20 ga. 20 ga. are alot more forgiving/less recoil then 12 ga, in my experience. With my Mossberg, it has interchangeable choke tubes, therefore I do small game hunting and deer hunting with the same gun, just change out choke tubes. They make a youth model of the same gun which I should probably have rather then the full size, but it works for me. The Mossberg 500 20 ga takes 2 3/4" and 3" shells.
  3. Re: Bucknasty Bow Strings... for those of you who have gotten strings/cables from Bucknasty, how long has it taken? I know he was behind a bit but I send the payment about 2 weeks ago so I'm just tryng to get an idea of how long people have waited, lol
  4. Re: ILclimbers shed pic Very nice sheds! Congrats!
  5. Re: Stomach Virus or something worse? I'd go see a doctor. Food poisoning, at least when I've had it, only lasts 1-2 days. I had a flu thing during the summer, actually almost our entire summer custodial crew got it, and that lasted about 3 days but the stomach pain and puking and diarrhea lasted like 2 days. Go see a Dr, better safe than sorry.
  6. Hey ladies, do any of you who bowhunt do any type of 3D shooting? I'm wanting to get into a little 3D shooting this year, seems like it would be alot of fun. Just wondering if anyone else here has experience and if so, what was it like?
  7. is really addictive! lol I love it! Each fly is a piece of art and I love doing my own thing so it's even better. I was tying some yesterday and mom mom wanted with one with wings, lol, she thinks they are really neat. So I tied a Mosquito and a Black Nat for her, lol. I had to go cut a wing fether off one of our ducks for the Black Nat wings for my first ones of those, they turned out prett good I think. Been getting the hang of Hare's Ear Flies, got Wooly Buggers down pretty good but I knew how to do those anyway. I'll try to take some pics to show you and you can critique them, lol. Once i'm somewhat decent and faster and making them, I thought I'd try to sell a few, if I'm lucky. Oh and I can't say enough thanks to Andymansavage who sent me a Fly Tying book - it is a really great book!
  8. Re: shed antlers My biggest shed was a 4 point found last spring, in a corn field which makes it harded to spot. Really nice shed, especially for the area I live in. The tip of it's G3 was broken off, too bad, but I don't mind!
  9. Re: New form photo...let me know what you think [ QUOTE ] is that bow a razortec? [/ QUOTE ] No, it's an 06 Hoyt Rintec XL. Very sweet bow if I do say so myself But then I was shooting an old used Hoyt Mystic Rebel that had a 40" A to A
  10. Re: killer arrows Same arrow, yes! I have had Beman ICs Hunter 500 arrows for 2 years now, and my arrow labled #1, being the one on the nock and ready when hunting, that killed a button buck in 2005 and a 7 point buck and a doe just this past season:-)
  11. Re: Plaques for turkeys Wow, those are neat HuntnMa! I like them!!
  12. Just wondering if any of you have plaques you mount your fans/spurs/beards on - if you buy them or make them yourself? I had the privilege on Archery Talk to find a guy who does his own plaque making and he makes probably the most unique turkey plaques I've seen! They are done from pine, cut in the shape of a turkey feather, and the way they are done, the grain of the woodsl ooksl ike banding in the feathers! Well he wanted some shed antlers and I had two from a rattling set I found and I traded them to him for 2 of his plaques. They should be hear tomorrow and I'll post a photo. They are very unique and I'm definitely hoping this year to have a beard and spurs to put on one of them. Anyone else have any unique plaques?
  13. Re: Guess Who\'s Comin To Iowa..... That is pretty cool! Congrats and good luck. God knows all that we do...
  14. Re: Shotgun ? for the ladies I have a regular 20 ga. Mossberg 500, but a girl I knew got a Mossberg 500 youth model and it is nice! Mine is a bit big for me but it does the job.
  15. Re: Blazer vs. regular vanes ttt...
  16. Re: Bucknasty Bow Strings... I ordered a set of strings and cables for my bow from him. Still waiting for them, but he was a little behind in his work. All I've heard was great things about him so I'm looking forward to seeing his work.
  17. Re: Blazer vs. regular vanes What if I added wraps to the arrows but stuck with the 4' vanes? will that make my arrow heavier and not fly as well? By the way went out to shoot my arrows for the first time with the 100 grain tips. Seemed to shoot alright. I actually was grouping decently at 10 and 15 yards with just my 10 yard pin, then at 20 yards, went a little high and at 30 yards was a little high, not alot. I'm sure part of it has to deal with working on my anchor point since I'm trying to remember where I anchor and how, and I am working on the string being not on the side of my nose so much. One thing I'm not sure about is although my arrows weren't totally all over, a little high and to the right, it seems like since I took the broadheads off,the field points hit high and I keep moving my pins up. Is this me, the arrows, or the field tips? Since I was shooting myself, couldn't get a good view of how the arrow was flying, but I didn't see any fish tailing that I could tell.
  18. Re: Blazer vs. regular vanes Ok, not toally sure I understand it all but if I'm correct, switching from 125 grain to 100 grain is a good thing. If I switched from the 4" vanes to Blazers which are lighter, that would reduce the spine on my arrows which is not good. If I switched to Blazers with wraps, the wraps would add weight that I lost?
  19. Re: Blazer vs. regular vanes So I was asking this on Archery Talk and a guy who I guess helps out alot of people with their bows said this: "Right now it looks like your ICS 500’s are around 357 grains and 10.2% FOC (which is good) …if you switched to blazers you’d need a wrap for sure of at least 10 grains to bring the FOC down. At 46# now, your way over spined , if you can get to 51# that would be perfect spine for this set up with a 100 grain tip. If you go to a 125 grain tip, 46# would be perfect without changing anything but the BH weight. BUT, the FOC would be a tad high at 12.65% with the 4” vanes, and if you go to blazers, it would be way too high of a FOC even with a wrap." Ok, this is all getting way too complicated. My DW is at 46 lbs. right now and if I raise it 1 turn each, I'll go up to 49 lbs. So he's saying my arrows are overspiend for this??? I want to stick with going with the 100 grain tips because those 125 grains were too heavy for my arrows. Maybe I should just stick with 4" vanes, but how would putting wraps on effect the arrows? This is all way too complicated now, lol.
  20. Re: Dream find! LOL. Boy if I ever came upon the real thing looking like that, I think I'd need a box of tissues!
  21. Re: Bohning Quiver and few things for sale Sight sold pending payment..:-)
  22. Re: 16 - Backstrap Butchers Nah, don't worry about it Harv. You were a member of this team and you tried, that's all that matters. There's always next season, a mere several months again. Don't worry about it bud!
  23. Re: How many pope and youngs have you killed Been bowhunting 7 years this coming fall...have yet to see a P & Y buck. But I hunt rural farm land in western NY and to me any deer should be in it's "own book".
  24. Re: Bohning Quiver and few things for sale Ok, $18 TYD for the quiver, $4 TYD for the shotgun sight...any takers?
  25. Re: Give a congrats Congrats on an accomplishment! Keep those posts coming!
