Re: The Clowns of the Wisconsin Gun Opener Man...The onlt thing I had so far was the neihbor boy, 16, shot a doe late today and was in my field trying to fo;;ow up on it when I came home. I was glassing the lower fields just at dark and saw him out there. I drove down to him to see who it was, and he told me what had happened, the doe came onto my property and bedded up, but when he came over to get it it took off. I told him to come back in the am and we should find it bedded up.

I saw three deer running full speed about half a mile from me. This was out in open fields, pasture etc. They turn and come right down the field toward me. Of course I was on them asap with my binocs, and could tell the last one was a buck, not a shooter but above its ears. As they got closer, it turned out to be two bucks chasing a doe! They get into the creek bottom and she is going FULL tilt! Back and forth around and around, now they pick up yet a third buck!.....Then another doe gets in the chase and two bucks chase after her....the smallest of them mounts her and attemps to breed but the bigger one comes back and runs him off. he goes back and mounts her and successfully passes his gene pool on!! He was a young fork but had much potiential!! The doe was exhausted, and eventually bedded up with the buck staying close by. This is the second time Ive seen a buck and doe mate.

Re: Five Hunters Shot Dead in Woods I dont know it makes much difference, but the local news said he was of the Hmong race,(spl)? from the Twin Cities area. Quite a large popuation of them live near there.Thy have been known not to follow hunting or fishing regs or laws.

Sawyer CO.is a big tourist area of WI., doesn't surprise me any if it's not a local.....will keep you all updated on what I hear.

Re: whats going on??? Yes they are nocturnal, we are seeing deer but not nearly what is normal for us. We did get a 9, two 8 pts., two 7 pts, and several does.

This is my Dad Sherwood, 81, with his buck he killed today while sitting in his shooting house. He took the buck with one shot at 100 yards in the woods. UBBCode: 9pt. 18" spread.

Re: How\'s the season going for everyone so far???? From what Ive seen, the first slug of does have been bred or passed estrus, and the bucks are now trolling for the remainder of them. This would explain for the buck sightings we are seeing in the middle of the day....wondering bucks, crazed , glazed look about them. And Sat is our rifle opener!!

How long are you in your stand before legal shooting hours start? Personally, I like to be in no later than 45min. to 1 hour before.
