Had a great opening day yesterday. Saw 6 bucks and 3 does. Saw a really nice 8pt that should score between 145"-150". Wide tall heavy chocolate racked buck. Passed a nice young 8 right at dark. He rubbed a tree 15 yards from me. Was a great day and I'm pumped to get back in the woods!

I took my son hunting last Sat. for youth day and he missed a spike at the club in the morning. He rushed the shot. Then that afternoon we hunted behind the house and saw 3 buck including the one I call Mule. They never came close enough for a shot but was exciting seeing Mule in the field before dark. Our season starts this Sat so Im pretty excited to get things going.

Hoosier its the biggest buck I've ever seen around here. Just hope he sticks around. He's on a 3,500 acre property we hunt but he's staying only 600 yards or so from the highway. I pray he doesn't get hit by a car!

I was at the race. Man what a long night. I had a fence crew there in case they wreck in the fence I have to fix it. We were there from 1:00 in the afternoon and I didn't get home until 2:30 the next morning. Was definately a good race. I'm sure some people would have liked to see a few more cautions for wrecks and all but the rain helped that some I guess. I was shocked to see how well Gordon came back after being junk the first part of the race. Was like the old days for him. I'm not a Gordon fan at all but that was impressive to watch. Should be a good chase!

This buck showed up on my buddies cam at our club. The buck beside him is a big 10pt. This guy is ridiculous though. Not sure I've ever seen one this big before in our area. Hope I, or one of my buddies, gets to see him up close and personal come October! [ATTACH=CONFIG]12320[/ATTACH]

I took these pics of this fawn across the road at my dad's house. The doe has a broke leg but she still gets around ok. Been like that for the last couple years. We think she was hit by a car. This is her first fawn. It's a little button head. He let me get pretty close yesterday for a pic. I'm standing at the back door when I took the pic of him nursing. That was a few weeks ago. Well guys my season is over. Sorry I couldn't get it done. Last drive of the day I saw the tail end of a buck but he didn't come my way. It was a giant too but nobody got a shot at him. He will still be around for next year if he doesn't run out in front of a car or something. Congratulations to everyone that shot a deer. Sure hope I have a better season next year!

I have 5 more days left in my season. I'm hoping to get Friday off to hunt the last 2 days. I'm going to try to shoot at least a doe because I need one for the freezer. Hope it happens. I passed on a decent 7pt on Saturday but a huge buck was suppose to be with it but it must have gone a different way. It wasn't a shooter but one of our guest shot him thinking it was bigger. We did see 3 monsters so I'm still holding out hope for a good one to end the season!

Congrats on a nice buck Rhine! I have 2 weeks left to make something happen. Going to put a doe on the ground soon. Not holding back anymore. The deer are starting to herd up around here. Hope to at least put a doe on the board for us but I'm still trying hard for a good buck. We'll see if it works out.

Man I had a real close call with a beautiful buck yesterday. Had him at 86 yards but I had my shotgun with buckshot and didn't feel like taking that long a shot on such a nice buck. He looked like a 10pt with a couple stickers. Probably close to 20" outside. Real long 2's and 3's. Probably a 145"-150" buck. Killed me to not take the shot but I couldn't take a chance wounding that deer even with my setup. (custom full choke tube and handloaded buckshot that's super hot!) I think it was the same buck I saw in bow season that was just out of bow range too. I sure hope to get a closer encounter with that buck soon... it would really boost our point total! Not to mention look great on my wall!!! lol btw Kevin... good luck today in FF man. Ironic that we end up playing each other in the semi's.

Good job Cutter! Nice buck man! Congrats to Rhine and Kevin on the slicks too! I'm just not seeing the bucks. I could have shot a couple does and I probably will shoot one this weekend just to contribute to the team and my freezer. With all the reports I'm hearing I think we had a bad year for EHD. I'm hearing a lot of deer being found dead. Lot of people I've talked to said deer numbers and sightings are way down this year. Would explain why it's been a slow season so far.

It is a very small deer. We also found out from the taxidermist that the deer is actually a 5 1/2 year old. Some of our deer around here are just small for some reason. I've killed 2 bucks that were 4-5 year olds that had big racks but weighed less than 130 lbs.

My buddy Dave killed this buck Saturday. The buck is a main frame 7x8 with a droptine and other stickers. It has 21 scorable points. I taped it at 169 3/8" gross. If you add in a few points that are less than an inch it will go 170. The buck only had a 14 1/2" inside spread but has nice tall tines and a lot of them. Deer was pretty small but we all think it's a 3 1/2 year old. Dave didn't realize what it was until he walked up to it. He thought he had shot a nice 6 or 8pt. Good job Fly and Art on your deer kills! I didn't see a good buck all week last week. Had a small 8pt that I let walk on Thursday and that's it. Passed several does. I'll wait a little later to take one out. Was really hoping to at least see a good one. Going to be tough from here on out. May shoot a doe out of frustration! Good job on the deer everyone. I'm a slacker I guess but just struggling. Not sure if it's moon phase, weather or what but I'm just not seeing the deer lately. My friends are in the same boat so I don't know. I'm off this Friday and all next week so hope to make something happen then. The weather gets better starting Friday so my fingers are crossed. Our gun season starts Saturday and the dogs hit the woods too so deer will be on there feet one way or the other next week!
