  1. You and me both! I've been to the World 100 a few times...that is a fun place to watch some racing.
  2. We put a liner type in ground pool at my brother in laws a few summers ago. Man, it was a lot of work, but turned out great. He bought a kit for a few grand, and we pretty much did the whole thing our selves. He went with salt water and a heater. The heater is nice because we can use his pool from April to October, but apparently it costs a lot to run.
  3. It's go time! Good luck!
  4. I'm with you. It's not like it used to be. There are also a few drivers that I just can't stand. It has been a few years since I watched a complete race. I do still watch most of Bristol and Martinsville. IMO dirt racing is where it's at. Speaking of which...did anybody watch the truck race at Eldora? That is what racing is supposed to be.
  5. Yea, Illinois is a shotgun state, and I know she's not quite ready to handle a 20 gauge yet.
  6. I might let her try it here in the next few weeks. She's only shot her bb gun and a .22 so far, but I might let her shoot it with 50 grains just to get the hang of it. I can always sneak a little extra powder in if she hunts and she would never know.
  7. I started bringing my kids with me to shed hunt, hang stands, plant food plots, and things like that when they were three or four. Last year I brought my daughter to actually sit with me in the stand for the first time, and she is 8. She was good for about three hours before she started getting fidgety. This season I'm planning on picking up a ground blind and hopefully she can make it a little longer. She wants to hunt this season, but she's a shrimp and only weighs about 55 lbs. so she might have to wait till next season before she can handle a muzzleloader or shotgun.
  8. My first bow kill was a 1 1/2 old 8 pointer, probably back around 1998. It was a very memorable hunt. I missed chip shot at a doe from my treestand. I definitely accredit the miss to buck fever...I know she had to see my knee shaking. I got down around 10:00 because I was cold and under dressed. I climbed down, grabbed my bow, through the old Strongbuilt climber over my shoulder and headed to the truck. About 100 yards from the truck I heard leaves crunching and see 4 deer heading my way. I knelt down, dropped the stand, and knocked an arrow. As they ran closer I could here the bucks grunting. It was the first time I heard a deer grunt. A doe trotted by at 40 yards, followed by two big bucks. They were out of range, so I figured I would call to them. A bleat from my can call and a short grunt and the third buck turned straight towards me. He made it to 15 yards and was broadside when he seen me, but it was too late. I spined him and needed a follow up shot. It was a great feeling to get my first bow deer after 5 or 6 years of bowhunting.
  9. I remember seeing them bad boys...a buddy of mine hunted with one. My first bow was an old Browning hand me down, probably made in the 80's. All wood riser with wood laminate limbs. I sold it for $20 about 10 years ago to some kid that wanted to shoot squirrels in his yard lol. I never did shoot an animal with it. From there I moved to a Fred Bear Whitetail, then to a Whitetail Master, then a Bowtech Liberty, and now shooting a Mission Journey.

    It's a girl!!!!!

    Sweet! Congrats to your family!
  11. It will be interesting to see what the requirements and training end up being. I thought I heard somewhere that if you've taken the hunters safety course that accounts for 8 hours of training. I wish it was a little cheaper, but numero uno here in Illinois is how the government can make money on it. By the time you figure in the training course and permit fees it could be pretty pricey.
  12. I never could stand the idea of red light cameras. They preach up and down about how they are there for public safety and not for profit, but everybody knows it's a huge money grab. Why not just extend yellow lights by a second or two? Problem solved, intersections are safer, and no need for red light cameras. Oh yea...that doesn't put "free money" in a bunch of crooks pockets.
  13. The speed is fine for me, but for some reason when I go to the RT website for the first time I get a stupid fileshare page that loads and I have to hit the back button. It happens at work and at home both.
  14. The only thing that I would change is that the kids who own the ground that I hunt on to stop coming up to cut firewood and ride dirt bikes once bow season starts. There's nothing worse than getting up at 3:30 a.m. and driving an hour and fifteen minutes for a rut hunt, only to have someone start up a chainsaw 2 ridges over at 8:00 a.m.
  15. Wow...that is great to hear! Glad to see that he is feeling much better.
  16. lol Man, I'm not even close. Between work, a pregnant wife, two kids playing ball, birthday parties, graduation parties, finishing my basement, and everything in between.....I'm running a little behind this year. I might try to sneak away this weekend to check on some stands and clear some shooting lanes.
  17. Man, The Bruins came out hard in the first period. Crawford kept them in the game and the Hawks weathered the storm. The Bruins played great, just got a little soft in the last few minutes and it cost them. Congrats to the Hawks. Someday the Cup will come through St. Louis.
  18. Hey Matt....good to see you back! Man, it's been a while. Still following the dirt mods up there?
  19. Good advice...thanks all. Oddly enough when he plays with his toy gun he shoulders it right handed. I think we'll start there, and figure out which bow hand to use later on. I didn't realize there were so many ambidextrous people out there lol. I eat and write left handed, bat both, but throw and shoot right handed. I'm also right eye dominant.
  20. My boy is naturally a lefty. He bats left, throws left, eats left, writes left, and casts a fishing pole left. I want to get him started shooting a bb gun a little this summer, but not sure if I should start him lefty or righty. His dominant eye is oddly enough his right eye, so I was thinking he should shoot right handed? Anyone else have any experience with this?
  21. Heck of a battle last night! I fell asleep after the first overtime, so mished the finish. For a while it looked like Boston was going to slip by with the win.
  22. They look great! A few more years like that and you'll run out of wall space. Is the 10 a semi-sneak?
  23. Hah...wow. If I remember correctly I believe that they were going to start charging a fee to use their forums several years ago.
  24. The Hawks move on. They had one taken away in the third, but managed the game winner in OT. The Hawks and Kings should be a great western final.
