I agree. My daughter is only about 50 lbs., and won't be strong enough to bowhunt for years, and a this point a 20 gauge is still too much for her. With the cross bow season being so late the conditions are tough for a seasoned hunter, let alone a youngster just getting started. Hopefully it warms up a little. I have a ground blind set up on a narrow food plot just for her, so we'll see how it goes. We have really been struggling to see deer at our farm this year though.

I plan on taking my 10 year old daughter out a few times after muzz season. Got the new Barnett sighted in and she's good to go out to 20 yards with it.

Yea, It's just disappointing to have my gun hunting streak come to an end. The deer numbers are just terrible here this year. Two summers of drought, ehd, and several years of over harvest have caught up to the deer herd. I kind of regretted shooting that buck a first knowing he was a two year old, but now I'm glad I took he opportunity when I had it. Crossbow season started Monday, so I'm going to try and get my 10 year old daughter out a few times with her new Barnett. I have to say, this is the best team I've been on! Everybody has put time and effort in & communication in our thread has been great....it's been a pleasure.

Came up empty again this weekend. Gun hunted Friday, Saturday, & Sunday with no luck. It's the first time in 22 years that I haven't gotten a deer during our gun season. I still have some to bow hunt, but with the holidays the opportunities to get out will be diminishing.

Man, this is unbelievable lol...every time I come here to check things out someone else has scored or upgraded. I got out a little over the weekend, but only seen does. This weekend coming up is our second shotgun season, but the weather looks like it's going to be crummy with freezing rain.

Man, that is a great weekend. Congrats to your dad and son! Memories to last a lifetime. It was pretty slow where we hunt. I only seen one deer the entire weekend, and didn't even hear much shooting around us.

Nice footage! I enjoyed the tracking and gps stuff you had in there to. That deer went a long ways. Great job sticking with it and finding him. I thought the shot was a little better than that when I first seen it, but playing it back in slow mo it was definitely a little back.

Congrats Zizzer. Just seen the pics in the entry thread...he's a nice buck. Holy moly, we're up to 70 points. This might be our year! Illinois shotgun season was this past weekend. It was unseasonably cold, and the wind was brutal Saturday. Needless to say I only seen one deer. I'm going to pick up another set of archery tags and try to get out this weekend a few times.
