Mud checking in here. My name is Tim. Looks like a solid team. I'll be hunting central Illinois. Our season opens October 1, but I have a kid on the way here in the next few weeks, so I might get a bit of a late start. I've been pretty fortunate to have some good entries the last few seasons, so hopefully my luck holds out. Team name doesn't matter to me....I'm down with anything.

22"....holy smokes. In contrast, we've had around 3-4" since the beginning of July.

Same here also. The last rain that the farm I hunt got was on August 7th. I tilled and limed on the 10th, and haven't seen a drop of rain since. The 10 day forecast doesn't have any in it either. We had scattered showers over the weekend, but everything missed the farm. Supposedly EHD is starting to show up there again too. :no:

Just a little update in case anyone is interested....I just ordered one up today. I was going to wait, but came across this and it sounds perfect for my daughter. Recruit | Barnett Crossbows It is a Barnett, but from my research it a great crossbow for the money, and has some good safety features. I ordered it from a place called Black Bear Sporting Goods for $250. I've never heard of the place, but they have some decent prices and hopefully they are decent to deal with.

Around here bottom ground that is in a flood plain is around $4000-5000 and acre. Tillable land and higher ground timber goes between 6-10 on average.

I have to do this every so often also. This is the only website that I have to this for. All of the other forums I visit work fine. I still can't figure out how to avoid the stupid fileshare webpage I get when I first come to the forums every day either.

Yea, I noticed crossbows in the AT classifieds are like gold lol. I've been checking Craigslist, but the prices on there seem to be high too. Maybe I'll just sit tight and research a little more until a good deal comes along.

Thanks for the info everybody. It appears that Horton shut down, and now a lot of their equipment is on clearance at retailers. Natchez had the Horton Summit HD150 for $150, which is like half off the list price. Of course it doesn't come with a warranty, but seems like a better quality.

Man, that's great Shaun! Sounds like a sweet gig. It's not easy finding a job that you really enjoy going to everyday.

Alright, I'm in the market for a cross bow for my daughter. She's 9, and just too small to handle a 20 gauge or muzzleloader yet, but she wants to hunt this season. In Illinois now crossbows are legal from the second Monday after Thanksgiving till the end of the season in January, so this gives her several weeks to hunt as opposed to just one weekend for youth season. I need something on the small side, lightweight, and cheap. Does anybody have any experience with the SA brand or the Barnett RC-150. The local Rural king carries the SA and has a recurve style for $150, and a compound for under $200. The Barnett has an adjustable stock, and is also around the $200 mark.

Other than lack of participation, I can't think of any big changes that the contest needs. Maybe a requirement that you at least check in every two weeks or so would work. The only issue I see with that is if someone on your team gets the boot, where do you get replacements? I think we had two guys on our team last year that checked in, and that was the last we heard from them.

This is my thought also. I probably wouldn't pay for any extras, but I'm pretty frugal lol.

We have a 7" Lenovo that we bought from Best Buy about a year and a half ago. I think we paid about $180 for it, and it's been flawless so far. I actually went in looking at the Kindle Fire, but the Lenovo had more features for less money. The kids have about 10 or 12 games on it, I can check my e-mail with it, it reads PDF and Word documents, has a built in GPS, an SD card slot, and forward and rear cameras. The kids have dropped it several times and haven't broke it yet. It doesn't come with a manual though, but you can look it up online and print it out. That's really my only experience with a tablet. The Nexus looks like a good buy too.

I've seen sprints and outlaws a few times. They are fun to watch, but I prefer the modifieds and late models just because I knew a bunch of guys that race in those classes. I read about Tony's crash this morning. He's a lot like Schrader and Wallace.....the guy just loves to race. Unfortunately it will cost him a chance at the Chase this season.

Hmmm, I used to live in Watonwan county (somewhere around area 206) and I remember there being a ton of deer around there. You really had to watch the road at night because you would always see deer. I only gun hunted back then, but if I remember correctly everybody in our group had one tag each...some had antlered only and some had antlerless only. We would eat through one deer in about 2 months at our house.

Sounds like a week well spent. I need to get on the stick myself and do some food plot work and stand prep.

He's a shooter for me. Looks like he has some good size. Broken or half rack antlers do not deter me from shooting.

Outfitters. Just because you have a lot of sponsors and can make a whole season of shows by going from outfitter to outfitter doesn't mean squat to me. It drives me nuts when they say " man, we really worked hard for this deer", when the reality is they just sat in a stand that someone else hung for a few days on a low pressured farm.

I lift three or four days a week. Right now my routines are a little short since I'm trying to get the basement finished before the new baby gets here. I never was much of a runner, but always try to take the kids to the ball field or soccer field and practice once or twice a week, so I do get some running in then.
