  3. Hey guys, Mark from NC here. Season opens a week from tomorrow here and I'll be in the woods a good bit this season. Good luck to everyone. A few more names, "Team THWACK", "Team String Music", "Team Armchair Bonecollectors". I'm good with whatever you guys decide, just thought I'd throw a few out there.

  6. Unfortuantely "THWACK" was taken. But this was my 2nd choice and I was actually pretty surprised it wasn't taken.

  12. Not personally, but I've been told a story about my granddad that still gives me goose bumps as I tell it here. When he was in college, he was up late studying in the fraternity house where he lived. He got hungry so he started down towards the kitchen. When he reached the top of the stairs, there standing at the bottom of the stairs was his father, my great-grandfather in his suit and tie. My grandfather asked him what he was doing there, and so late. My great-grandfather looked up at him and said, "Son, it's everything I imagined it would be and more. Now go back to your room and sleep, you'll need the rest for your exam". So being the obedient son that he was my Grandfather went back to his room, turned out the light, and went to sleep. The next morning a frat brother woke him up to tell him he had a phone call. It was a family member telling him that his father (my great-grandfather) had passed away in his sleep.
  13. Like most guys and gals, I was searching the internet for likeminded folks to ask questions and share stories. It's been a great ride!
  14. Best $25 I ever spent. If I win one, I can put one at the bottom of my stand, and one at the top.
  15. Obviously you didn't learn your lesson. :clown: Congrats anyway.
  16. yeah, i'm not naive about the whole deal, i just wish they would supply the whole list of names and what they actually tested positive for. get it over with, rather than dragging it out name by name over the next 10 years.
  17. Just wanted to get everyone's opinion on the list of 103 players that keeps getting leaked 1 by 1 for performance enhancing drugs positive tests. The first thing I would like to see is a list of the drugs/supplements that would trigger a positive test. Is it just steroids and HGH, or is it a long list of stuff that could have been bought legally at a local GNC store? It's one thing to label a guy a steroid user before we ever find out exactly what he tested positive for. I'm not trying to make excuses for anybody, I'm just curious. If A-Rod used steroids (illegal to purchase in the Us) and Ortiz or whoever else used a dietary supplement like creatine (legal to purchase in the US) and they both come up positive, do you have the same view of each players use? I've always been on the side of giving the guy that used a legal supplement or medication the benefit of the doubt if something in that came up positive. But to knowingly use steroids is much more serious in my book. What are your thoughts?
  18. I know this is old news, with the Home Run Derby and all last year. Most everyone at least knows a part of his story, but I gotta say, after reading his book last week, I'm an even bigger fan of Josh. It just goes to show, that every once-in-awhile, 2nd, 3rd and sometimes 4th chances are worth taking on people when they finally have their heads screwed on right and are doing what they are doing for something bigger than the game. Whether you believe in God or not, this is a great read, and story about a man's mistakes and redemption. And I'm not much of a reader, so for me to read the whole book cover-to-cover in 2 nights is saying something. Another cool thing was when I was talking about the book with my wife, she actually knew Josh's wife back in High School. Small world.
  19. not to beat a dead horse...but David's a great guy, hunter, man of God. If I paid to go on a hunt, or better yet, if I was just out on a hunt on my land, looking for horns and all I saw was does, it would be dissapointing. I still appreciate every minute I get to spend in the woods regardless, but I understand what David is talking about. Like some others have said, make a point to find out when he's in your area, go hear him speak, try to catch a few minutes with him, and you'll realize why everyone is defending him.
  20. Casey, I have a T/C Encore ML and I have a Nikon ProStaff 3x9-40 on it. Great scope, and I'm pretty sure I paid somewhere in the $200-$250 range.
  21. Do they not come with brakes??? :clown:
  22. I've made my fair share of mistakes along the way, as I'm sure many others have. But the one thing I can say that's true from my life is that if I screwed up, while still under my parents supervision, I paid the consequenses. Are there worse things he could have done, sure, but parents are way to easy on kids these days. My parents wouldn't have thought twice. They'd have my bags packed and we'd be on the way home.
