  1. Well...... Count me in for 5 points! I smoked a big swamp doe this evening. 14 yards quartering away. Rage Hypodermic got r done. The blood trail was far from great but she went down quick. Gonna turn my attention to some duck and pheasant hunting for a little while then once the pre rut gets going I'll start buck hunting.
  2. I'm in the stand right now. What an eventful morning. Almost shot the big buck I was lookin for. He's a really nice 8. Passed on a smaller 8 and some does waiting for Mr. Big coming up the trail but he picked a fight with a smaller buck and nvr gave me the opportunity. Hoping for part 2 this afternoon!
  3. Well I'm hoping everyone has a successful and more importantly safe deer season this fall. We get started in 2 days!
  4. Hey guys. All I have to say is... 2 more days!!!! I can't even contain my excitement. I want to shoot my bow til my arms fall off lol
  5. Anyone wanna throw a few team names out there? Team Smoke City? Team Fatal Skies? Team Thwack & Stack?
  6. I started using G5 Blu Glu a few years ago. Very strong stuff. Somewhat expensive but it goes on blue and dries clear.
  7. Hey all! Good to see a few familiar faces on this team. My bow season starts on the 1st here. Got some great bucks on can. Hoping to start off with a doe. I took the first 3 days off from work. So I'm hoping to git r done early
  8. Squirrelhunter91 21 Oct 1st - mid december in NY... Possibly January if I make it to TX!
  9. Good to see some familiar faces are still here. I'm in for the deer contest. Will get on sign up in a few!
  10. I'm alive. Work and what little social life I have between have kept me busy. Now with huntin season rolling around, all bets are off.
  11. I know I've been MIA for a while y'all but what happened to the board here? This place used to be a bumping forum. Anyone deer hunting yet?
  12. Awesome! So jealous you guys are hunting already lol I'll be on my way to Texas to chase Rio's in a few weeks! Can't come soon enough though.
  13. That's the story nationwide. DHS has purposely created an ammunition shortage with their purchases in excess of 1 billion rounds. Clinton shut down the gov't owned ammo manufacturers. So now they rely on private manufacturers and we have to suffer.
  14. I've shot a bunch of different brands of arrows and brands. For economy, I loved the Gold Tip XT Hunter 55/75. Shot a bunch of deer with them and even used arrows more than once to kill a deer. But for the last 2 years I've been shooting Easton FMJ 400's and in my opinion you can't beat the penetration and Kinetic Energy these shafts deliver downrange. Last year I shot a doe quartering away at 27 yards. It was a hard quartering angle and I slipped the arrow in right in front of her right hip and it blew out her chest between her neck and front left shoulder. The arrow went the full length of the deer and was laying on the ground a few feet past her when I went to pick up the blood trail. I like these arrows with a sharp fixed blade head. My favorite is the G5 Striker. No complaints with that broadhead/arrow combo at all.
  15. I'd go with the Shwacker if I were you. I've killed 2 deer with the NAP Bloodrunner 3 blade. And to be honest, for a broadhead with that name, I was not happy with the blood trails at all. Granted, both deer piled up in sight, but the blood trail just wasn't there. Fortunately, I made good double lung shots on both of them, but hardly a blood trail, and that's with a pass through! My buddy shoots the Shwackers and swears by em. I've seen first hand the blood trails they leave and it's much more impressive than my experience with the Bloodrunners.
  16. Hey everyone.. I tagged out yesterday morning. Killed another jake with my bow. Will get that other bird entered soon though. Good luck!
  17. Had some schedule changes happen at work this week so I went up to the property last night because I had today off and didn't have work til 12:30 on Thursday. So I figured I could hunt wednesday and early thursday if need be. I went out in the rain at 5am, sat til about 7 and got soaked. Went back to the house and fell back asleep til 9:45. Woke up and saw the sun was starting to break through the clouds and the fog had lifted off the mountain. I knew exactly where the birds would be at this time, in a field that is an annual strutting zone. They sit out there for hours on end and strut their little hearts out. So I get suited up and start hoofin it up the mountain to get to this field, calling every 100 yards or so to see if I could atleast get a response. No gobbles on the walk up. As I'm coming down the four wheeler trail and approaching the field, I pick out two turkeys in the field, one in half strut, about 80 yards away. I plop down just off the trail and let out a few soft yelps. I probably could've set up a decoy but in the heat of the moment, I just wanted to get set. Two birds gobble on the yelps so I sit tight. About a minute goes by and I throw out some hard cutts followed by excited yelping. The field lights up with a bunch of different gobbles. Then I see all the heads starting to peak over the rock wall separating the field from the woods. I count 6 heads and see two more longbeards out in the field but further out behind the jakes. The jakes start filing down the rock wall towards the only opening off to my right. Lazy birds. Anyway, one jake comes through, two more, one more. So at this point, I'm desperately holding out for one of the longbeards but I notice the jakes start taking a trail hard to my right that would not permit me a shot when the longbeards caught up to them. So when they were all behind a cluster of trees, I readjusted and swung my gun to the right. At the very same time I started to move, another jake popped over the rock wall and busted me. Putt Putt! They all started to get nervous so I decided to drop the hammer on the one jake that was standing there 35 yards out. BANG! No flopping, just a backflip and all was still. Out of the last 9 days, I've hunted 7 of them from sunrise to noon. It was such a relief to put a bird on the ground, especially since it's been 3 years since my last one. Hoping to kill another tomorrow morning with my bow here in the county I live in. We'll see how that goes. Had to wait til I got home to take pics because I was alone in the woods, so I'm in plain clothes. Bird was 15lb, 4" beard and 3/8" spurs. I'll be back after those longbeards next week.
  18. Hey yall.. Well I am happy to report that I got it done this morning! It's a just a jake but man did I hunt hard for this bird. I plan on upgrading at some point for the contest. My next bird I'm gonna try and get with my bow. Will post pics and a story shortly.
  19. Had a really tough week with the thunderchickens.. Closest I came was on Sunday.. Had 2 toms and a jake at 75 yards but they wouldn't commit. They hung up for a half hour and strutted a line back and forth. I missed a tom yesterday with my bow. Arrow deflected off an unforeseen twig. Will be back after em Wednesday and Thursday.
  20. Hey yall.. I'm headed up to the property tomorrow for the NY Youth Turkey hunt. I'm taking out a friends grandson to try and get him his first bird. I hope we can connect. The weather doesn't look all too promising and it's bittersweet. We need the rain in the worst way but why does it have to rain on the weekend for the Youth Turkey hunt? Will keep yall updated throughout the hunt. Feels great to hit the woods again!
  21. Team name doesn't matter to me at all. Let's just win this thing!
  22. Hey all.. I'm around. Gonna try and make it on here a little more often now for this contest. Been workin 6 days a week to secure my time off during turkey season. Got the first week of the season off. Should be able to lay down atleast one for us.
  23. We had the geese and ducks here just outside NYC a few weeks ago. It was during the late goose season (Feb 25th-March 10th) that I was seeing all sorts of different birds. Tons of mallards, common merganser, pintails, buffleheads, all were coming through our local swamp in droves. More ducks than I've ever seen.
  24. Clearly he was joking. I saw that episode when it first aired last summer. If any of you read his biography, the whole poaching and shooting the radio collared wolf joke would make more sense to you. Waddell grew up very poor and at times they would have just corn for dinner. No meat or greens. Just corn.
