    new here

I'd like to welcome you also into the mix. Hunt safe and enjoy your time around this board.
  2. Hey Joe. Here is another web cam of a Redtail Hawk on Cornell U Utica campus. Been watching this one for a few weeks now. Live! Red-tailed Hawk Nest at Cornell University Deer and Turkeys are such roaming/traveling creatures that I don't think a fixed web cam would be to revealing unless it is a bait/feed pile. Now to strap a web cam on a mature buck or doe and to see what they see...That would be something.
  3. Thank You Sgt Smith for your ultimate scarifice. Rest in peace. Prayers on their way.
  4. Id buy 10 of them at that price...wish we had one around here.
  5. Steve you are a brave man. I am sorry you are going through this again. More prayers headed your way. Hang in there.

    Grass fire season

We have a burn ban until 5/5 it has been so dry. Down in NYC...the Staten Island dump was on fire for 3 days, under control now...Bear Mtn State park had a few hundred acre wild fire going that was extinquished. Long Islands east end just put out a 1000 acre wild fire that was burning up the Pine Barrens. A BIG Thank you to all the fireman out there who run into fires while most of us run from it.
  7. How about visiting Grand folks or other family members nearby? No one will ever be there for you like your family. So it only makes sense to strenthen those roots. If you can't do that...then. Go clean your room;)...Just kidding. Come on...go fishing...grab the binos and go to the woods. Just wandering the woods would keep me busy for hours.

    Blind Mechanic

Wow John...Like you said they compensate for not having the use of other senses. Really amazing. This soceity is innundated with entitlements. If the current Gov't regime gets to keep their jobs, this sense of entitlement will continue on yours, mine and the backs of every working person in this country.
  9. Nice shooting Dan. Them critters can wreak havoc on a field and are good for testing shooting skills . I shot 8 of them off my deck last year. Slammed a nice Reddish one with the 22mag and had it mounted.
  10. You were in the field and not at work. A missed shot is better than a day at work. Good Luck Dan.
  11. Funny sign. This picture made it around the net in light speed. I got it from about 7 guys on my e mail list.
  12. Unfortunatley...Pepsi gives to Anti gun causes. But while I do not agree with Colorofchange...I do agree that if you want to change a manufacturers mind. You have to hit them in the pocket. That usually gets their attention. The 400 or so e mails that Coke got seems to have help sway their decision.
  13. What a shame...hope he gets to share a cell with someone who wishes they could hunt. I can't believe they did not get caught sooner. Looks like 2 of them were related. What idiots.
  14. Yup that is bad news...for now. As others have said. Go meet the new owner, and sell yourself about what you can bring to the table as far helping him manage his land and keep an eye out for it. Also if this farmer as you state, pollutes and damages habitats. Perhaps DEC might like to know about that? I hope you get to stay and hunt on this land. Good Luck.
  15. How about a TC Encore in whatever caliber you want. Just keep adding barrels in the future. Get a black powder one, rifle one and a shotgun one too! OR... Get an AR style rifle in economical .223/5.56...get one in .204 Ruger or if you want that .30cal power in a AR/5.56 size reciever.... one in 300AAC Blackout.
  16. Very cool pics Jeramie...Thanks for sharing them. I think it is awesome how everyone there is volenteer, and has such a affinity for history. That really helps keep it alive, and teaches us about our past.

    Whew!

Glad your home safe Ross...Nothing like being home.
  18. Good Luck Ruth. Hope you get the job you want.
  19. Excellent. You'll be splitting arrows soon enough .
  20. Theres no place like home Steve...Welcome back.
  21. Cool pics. Keep practicing. Your bow arm looks locked. It should be slightly bent and after release the bow should tip forward. The resistance on the bow should be in the web of your hand, not from your grip. Do you have a wrist sling on the bow? If you cannot get to full draw without locking your arm, then the draw length is too long for you.

    good knife??

I have to agree about a Ross Tyser knife being one of the best out there. I have yet to get blood on my Tyser matserpiece. But as a normal working knife. Case and Schrade are good also. I happen to be a fan of Cold Steel knives. Some of their stuff is imported. But the hunting knives are made in the good Ole USA. They use excellent grade steel and the edges last quite a while.
  23. Yikes!!! Good Luck John...Hope it is nothing but an experience.
  24. Looks like we have a team of veteran hunters here . Glad to be on this team. My name is Anthony if you don't know me already. My son Joe( Squirrelhunter91) and I will give the turkeys a run for their money come May 1st and make our team proud. I most likely will be taking off that week of May 1st and my son Joe also should be off that week. So we will have some time to chase birds. For my youngest son Mike, it will be his last year to be eligible to hunt the youth turkey season. So my son Joe and I get to do real time scouting and calling the weekend before our opener. It was quite a mild winter here in Southern NY, and I have been seeing lots of Turkeys on our land and surrounding properties in region 3. What ever the name of team, is fine with me. Fan-addicts just popped into my head.
