    wood stoves

I still have the crank out type windows in that 1973 trailer, so there are lots of air leaks. I need the constant source of heat to keep the place warm. Burn mostly cherry, maple and ash. The can on the wall. I gather you are speaking of the extinguisher...correct? I believe it is good for electrical, gasoline and wood fires.
  3. This is my most memorable deer hunt. Oct 31, 2005 I was hunting in the woods behind the house(38 miles north of NYC). My son Joe went out early in the yard before school, to pull the card from the trail cam. He spooked this buck as he entered the woods. 10 minutes later he was standing in front of me broadside at 25 yards while I was in my favorite maple tree about 200 yards away. He had an injured left rear leg that had a Grapefruit sized ball on his knee and was walking on 3 legs. I drove an arrow through both front shoulders and down he went. He pushed with the only leg he had, and that drove him in a circle around a tree until he expired. ( Wow...my hair was quite black then )
  4. I hate hearing about stuff like this. Hope the no good thief gets caught. Check out this site. It might help with the recovery of that weapon. http://www.stolenweapon.com/Stolen-Gun-Home.html
  5. Awesome...Congrats to you and the Mrs . He is adorable.
  6. Happy Birthday! Hope you get a few goodies .
  7. My wife is a neat freak and cannot stand the tree being out after Christmas. It came down New Years weekend, as did the outdoor lights.

    wood stoves

This is the wood stove I have at my hunting camp/country house/trailer. At home I heat with gas and forced hot air.
  9. Opossums are quite unique animals. They are Marsupials, raising young in a pouch on the belly and the ONLY mammal to have 52 teeth. They are only legal to trap here in NYS during their perspective season. I have caught a few in my traps and they get the .22 mag treatment.
  10. Good Luck Lynn. Squeaky wheel gets the grease .
  11. I have used the steel case ammo for years in my AK's and SKS's. Of course, those guns were built around the use of that ammo. I had an incident about 10 years ago with the steel case stuff. The extractor tore the shoulder off the case and the shell was stuck in the chamber. A broken shell extractor is recommended if you are going to shoot steel case. These are 7.62x39 cases. broken shell extractor on right. This was the old ammo with the lacquer on the cases. Only the last few years when ammo has gone through the roof, have I started using some of that wolf ammo, only for blasting and plinking in my AR's. For the serious shooting and hunting. As Handgunner said, consider the Black hills Blue box. I get great accuracy of of the Black hills blue box loads which are loaded with 50gr V Max bullets. The Lake City SS109 green tip is very high quality, but expensive. I clean after shooting ...always.
  12. Great investment! Congrats. Now buy them for the kids if you have any while they are young. Usually cheaper the younger the kids are. I bought them for my kids when they were only $250. That same license now goes for $735. A great way to save money and spend it wisely. Got mine over 15 years .
  13. Around since June 05. Met a few of ya and talked to a bunch over the phone. Joined forums because of my son Joe dove head first into the hunting game and frequented a lot of forums. I just wanted to know what sites he was on and what he was posting about. Liked it so much I joined myself. As far as spending more time with family and not on the boards. My sons are 19,17 and 14. I only get to see them when they need money, rides someplace, the car keys and when I check on them when they are sleeping. Hunting seasons are when we all bond and spend lots of time with each other. I live to turkey hunt with my sons. I am married 20 years so I must be doing something right.
  14. I work in NYC at the largest and most busiest construction site in the world, Ground Zero. With the commute everyday( I drive), the constant noise, dirt, dust and fast pace every day. I cannot wait to get up to my country house on the weekends to enjoy the peace and quiet that place brings and make improvements to our property for the benefit of wildlife. I spend close to 100 days a year there in the country.
  15. Randy...you BELONG on that show . Always raising the bar on what impossible is. Great shooting!
  16. Ruth...Joes first bow was a Browning Micro Midas 3, then he moved up to a Ross 332, then a Mathews DXT. Now a Hoyt. Poor kid, I told him to make every move a move up:D In the grand scale of things...I don't care what he shoots as long as he kills what he shoots at. His first bow deer I had to drown...long story:rolleyes:. Shoot as many bows as you can and buy whatever feels right Ruth. I am just not a fan of dual cam bows and split limbs. Good luck with whatever you buy. I know you will do good with it.
  17. How'd you know? He has a Hoyt CRX32 in black, on order. Yeah we went at it for a little while...:saber::argue:.. I always thought I raised him better than to shoot a Hoyt . Hey it is his $...as long as the venison comes home. He could be spending his dough on lots of bad things that MANY 19 year old kids do. I am proud of him.
  18. Thanks all for looking...Bow was sold with the buy it now option. For those interested...it went for $625. Thanks again y'all.
  19. Wow that is NOT good. Prayers out to the dead mans family.
  20. There is a great message in this song. God Bless America and its troops defending it.
  21. I am selling my son Joe's DXT for him on E Bay. It is all set up but missing a sight. If anyone is interested...here is the link. Thanks. http://cgi.ebay.com/Mathews-DXT-27-70-needs-sight-/270687215982?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f0637216e
  22. Congrats on the milestone ...I am sure you a lot more to say .
  23. I won't tell you who sings the song...but I will tell you that George Jones and Charlie Daniels are in it. Many might not like this kind of music. But I appeal to the American in you and listen. No cursing, or scantily clad women, but there is a middle finger put up. Post not meant to offend anyone except America haters.
