  1. Since I have to head back off to school here soon and it is still to early to plant to fall plots with the daytime temps still in the mid to upper 90's, I wanted to prepare them as much as I could ahead of time. I am going to go ahead and till the lime in the soil, but I was wondering if I do the fertilizer with the lime or wait until I seed later in September? Using 10-20-20 @ $30 a bag I don't want to put it out to soon and it leach out. Second question, I went to Southern States to get some rape seed to add into the plots this fall when I plant and the manager was unable to find the seed and gave me some gardens greens mix. Its a mixture of: Southern Giant Curled Mustard, Purple Top White Globe, Seven Top Turnip, and Curled Siberian Kale. Any thoughts on this of if I should put out or wait for the rape seed????? Thanks!!!!
  2. I am actually looking at the XCR's too. That seems like a really good deal. The gun itself retails for more than that. The scope would just be icing on the cake for getting it all at that price.
  3. I have a newly planted clover/chicory plot and it is starting out well. There are a few sprigs of grass comming up. Should I spray them now or wait and see if the clover/chicory will choke it out. Also what can I spray in this so that it wont kill the clover or chicory?
  4. Lookin good! The plot looks so much bigger since you took that tree out of it. haha
  5. Excellent!!! Looks great on the wall!
  6. Very nice! Get um plenty of protein and neutrients this spring so those racks will be much larger!
  7. I know that clover doesnt need nitrogen becuase it produces its own. I put some 0-24-24 on a plot last year and didnt really notice much. Is it worth fertilizing clover? Also I am thinking about putting Chicory in there with it. How do you suggest going about fertilizing it?
  8. Congrats!!!! Passing on the love and passion for hunting is a MUST.. Good Job, and something to definately be proud of!
  9. 2 on Nov. 20th but different years. North Carolina
  10. Great bucks! That one almost looks like hes got some mule deer genes in his rack. Well atleast you know there still around too!
  11. All these pics came from the cameras this year and I never shot a buck this year. Hopefully they are all still alive or atleast the majority of them. My camera had a better year this year than I did, haha! Enjoy! Area 1 Big 8 Big 9 A few of the younger ones Young 9 Area 2 Nice young 8 Another young 8 Wide Crab Claw "Crabby" 8 "Crabby" with a 9 G2 kicker in the background Another decent 8 Hopefully next year will be ALOT better....
  12. No luck.... Went back out there Saturday mornin and looked around in the direction she ran and found nothing. Hopefully they will come back in there before the end of the season and I can get another try at it.
  13. Hitting high was definately a thought that crossed my mind. One thing I was thinking about as I was looking for the deer was whether or not it passed through. I am shooting 240 grain Horaday XTP mags (hallow points) and I was wondering with them being hallow points if that would have stopped the bullet from going all the way through. When I shot, I figured that I did hit the deer reasons: pretty sure her tail did not go up ( but I know its not a definate sign of being hit) and also she looked like she jumped/buckled kinda like when a deer jumps the string on a bow. I am gonna go give it another look tomarrow for sure.
  14. I finally shot my 454 Casull enough to where I thought I was comfortable with it at short range. Well a doe walked out tonight right before dark so I was going to put it to the test.... I think I failed... Around a 40 yard shot and found no blood or anything. Serached the area and still came up empty handed. It was definately fun though, I havent had a rush like that in a LONG time. I guess ill be doin some more practice in the off season.
  15. Well Ive held off all year waitin out for the bucks, but the years winding down and the freezer is empty, so I finally gave in a killed a doe. Ive gotten several pics of nice bucks around the stands, but they are all moving at night. Last year I put off getting meat til the last second and about went home empty handed. Although it was a doe, it was good to finally pull the trigger and they also need to be thinned out around our place too! 6 came out in the small plot about 25 minutes before dark, but it took 15 minutes before I could ever get a shot off. They all stayed together like a fish bait ball and would never seperate. Finally a squirrel scattered them just enough I could pick one out!
  16. I was browsing through other sites and came upon this. I have never herd of it from anyone or saw anything of it until now. Its VS-1 doe estrous. Heres a link to describe it better http://whitetailshopping.com/.... I found it through North American Whitetail. Question is has anyone else ever herd of it or used it?
  17. I am going to makes some feeders out of 30 gallon plastic drums that I recieved. What are some good feeder motors that are in the 50$ range?
