Re: binoculars help I wish that I could spend that much just on a pair of binoculars.
-
I got one the other week for a gift and was finally able to get it dirty tonight, and man I couldnt tell if the skin was just fallin off or if that knife was that sharp. Very good knives, and backed up with a forever gurentee (sp?) with free sharping also! Love the knife and plan on it being the last one I ever have to have.

Re: Binocular help I was in the same boat that you are in now. I went with a pair of Bushnell Bighorns, made only for Cabelas. They were 129.99 and are 12x50. They have twist out eye relief also. Very good in low light conditions, very clear, and really brings everything up close. Even with that magnification, something at 10 yards away can be seen clearly too!! I have not found one complaint with them yet!!!!http://cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0026458712016a&navCount=1&podId=0026458&parentId=cat601542&masterpathid=&navAction=jump&cmCat=MainCatcat602006-cat601542_TGP&catalogCode=XG&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat601542&hasJS=true Good Luck!

Yesterday I got to where I was hunting a little early and had about 30 minutes to burn before my friend got there and we took to the woods. Anyways, I was wondering through a pine thicket following a couple deer trails that were cris-crossing through the thicket to see where they lead to and a potential place for a stand. Well all of these trails led to a place that I have over looked for the past two years and thought nothing about. Its 30ydx30yd area where no trees grew in the thicket and I ride a 4-wheeler through there to get to a stand and like I said never thought anything about it. Well since its illegal to hunt on Sunday, I armed myself with a video camera and a small chiar that came with my pop up blind and went to see if I could catch anything moving. Well time passed and nothing was happening much and then about 5:20 (which is early for the deer to move around here) a great 2yr. old 8 pt walked within 10 yards of me not looking for any danger, just on a routine walk down a "safe" trail. Well with the camera going when he finally got close enough he picked up on the high pitchhum that most electronics make, turned around and trotted off. Need less to say, I havent seen deer move that early much less a potential 8 for next year. Sorry for it being so long but it was a good experience I had today in the woods, and it was nice to hunt with something besides a weapon. Quick question: What kinda video cameras do yall take hunting with you and have the deer ever picked up on them while you were hunting. Mine is a JVC digital and its only like a yr. old.

Re: Secondary Rut I know that you are asking for Ill. but I live in NC and tonight I herd and cought a quick glimps of 2 diffferent sets of deer tailing one another through the woods. So I am guessing the seconf rut is on now.

Re: Cought on Camera Too catch everyone up on info as of now.......I have printed pictures of it off and I do not know where the copies have gotten to but they are out there somewhere begin passed around. The reason why I have not paid this man a visit, AND TRUST ME IF IT WAS MY LAND I WOULD, is the fact that it is my friends land and I dont have much ground to go on since it is not my land. They have been informed and there the ones with the pics, lol. They said that they were going to talk with the man about it but I have not herd back from them yet. My friends brother and i decided that at the least we were going to send him a christmas card and say "have you herd of the one eyed knot head that just made B&C? They said that they called it "The Jengle Balls Buck"" Needless to say he is going to receive a copy of himself before all is said and done! Oh and no matter how mad I wanna be about this happening I cant help but die laughing at the pic. I would post it, but my mom said if she found it on here I was dead. Also it is a very "revealing" picture, lol. I just wish that I was in the stand when he did it so I could have shot the ground and made him pee all over himself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whats good to plant thats either ann. or pern. that does well in those shady spots in the woods? It gets light, but not like a field would.

I went and got my camera out of the woods yesterday and could not believe what I saw as I was scrolling through the pictures. I got a picture of the neighbor urinating in my corn pile and he is 80+ years old. People these days. Thanks god for my camera begin there and HIDE well cause I now have him red handed. He hunts the ajoining property and the stand he was at is about 200 yards off the property line. Also do you think that that stand will be no good since he did that?

Re: Pa Wildlife Pics, November 06 Looks like you have some good up comming potential!!!

Does anyone have a pair of them or herd anyone talk about them. Since my other pair is dead I am looking for a pair atleast 50mm and fairly inexpensive. I talked to someone from Bushnell today and they said that they were made exculsively for Cabelas. The price tag on them is 129.99. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Re: a few new bucks. I am from NC too and I would definately say that is HUGE for the standards around here. Definately an older deer with good nutrition!!! And if we could just convence all the other NC hunters to let um go, alot more would look like that one.

Re: How many deer have we taken this year? 0

Why isnt hunting like every other sport, you get out of it what you put into it. (meaning time wise) I have spent countless hours in the stand this year and havent killed one yet. Ive seen some but no shooters. Neways, my buddy works all the time (which I need to be doing instead of hunting so much, but I want a buck so bad), and has only been hunting twice this year, and has killed a buck both times. A 7pt. and 8pt. Both great deer. I know its hunting and not killing and I LOVE my time in the woods to get away, but I just wish I could get some his luck my way, haha. My hopes are falling as the rut is slowing down......

This year I have bene having trouble with my binoculars not doing right. Everytime that I look through them i am seeing double. Yes I have checked myself, the focus, the +/-, and opening and closing them. Ive cleaned them, held them different, and even crossed my eyes. I have used them for several years (they are tasco subs 10x50) and this is the first year Ive had trouble with them. They normally work like a charm! I guess my question is is there something I have not tried or can they just go bad over time?

Re: bad weather? I am in Randolph Co. and I went this afternoon and saw 5 3 does and 2 yearlings. Also had 3 hens come in too. I had to be somewhere at 6 so I had to leave the stand by 515 and missed the best time to hunt. Oh well atleast I saw deer!!!!!
