  2. Re: Whats your flavor? Bolt, I grab one according to where im hunting. 7mm-08 for smaller tighter areas, and 7mm mag for open areas. My other 2, poor them they get neglected more than I want them to but they have all killed deer, lol.
  3. Does anyone have a special way that they keep their nose from runnin like crazy on those cold days?????
  4. Re: Stuck in the Stand I just was just lookin through the other post and noticed one similar to this one sorry for something the same.
  5. Ok this is gonna be a two part, 1) my question and 2) venting....... 1) Ok what do you guys do to clear your stand area after shooting hours and you have already waited awhile for the deer to feed off and move on and they still havent left???? 2) I sat in the stand until 7:15 tonight, and hour and a half after shooting hours. By all means I am not complaining that I saw deer, I just got stuck in there for SO long. Where i am hunting is a thicket with a 4 wheeler trail cut through it. I have corn on the trail. Anyways they have been runnin around all day today AM/PM. After it got dark, deer started commin in and i was wanting out, lol. I sat there for 30 minutes or so and they were still there. I hadnt thought much about it because Ive done that before. Well another 15 passed, and still there. The first thing I did was turn on the flashlight, they just kept feedin and did not care. 10 more passed, tried the light again, no luck. Again 10 more passed I beat the ever livin **** outta the roof (tin) on my deerstand, still there. Well as the hour and a half mark approached, I was a little frustrated, So i started barkin like a dog, they didnt care about that either. So finally I got down walked a little ways down the trail, they just looked at me and then finally walked off. I just dont understand how you can make the most noise in the world sometimes and it doesnt bother them, but if you snap a twig wrong there gone for good. Not to mention I got the 4 wheeler stuck in the creek on the way out.......... Sorry so long but I had to vent, hahaha
  6. Re: Cold Weather Bucks I am so jealous, it seems like every pic you post is an extremely nice deer. I wish I could find something remotely similar to one of them around here.
  7. I like my camera but I am just about to give up on it. Takes great pics and all, but I went out to feed tonight after I got in from college and I walk all in front of it for 3-4 minutes trying to get it to go off and it never did. Finally it went off and the battery life said it was 95%. Makes me wounderin what I am missin? I have not got a pic of good buck(2 yrs and older) on it in the past 2 yrs. I had the moultrie film version before and got sveral different good buck a year. I am thinkin about gettin the 3.1 digital, any comments on that one????
  8. Re: Tree stand stolen, Cops don\'t care Its a shame that 10 years ago u could things unlocked and not worry about it being stolen, now everything has to be locked or otherwise its gone. I always take a cable and a lock that will make it through both parts of the climber and around the tree.
  9. Re: september buck pic (test) What a buck, get on that one!!!!! GL!
  10. Re: REALLY Small treestand?? I second Johnf..... I use the base of my climber and it works great. I just about like it better than the whole climbin stand. Super quick and easy!!!!!
  11. Re: Pins or Pendulum? I have a Savage pen. and I really like it. Elevated from 20-0 dead on. This is sighting it in on the ground at 20 yards too. ONce past 20, it starts the fall, id say shooting from and elvated area on a 30 yard shot it falls at most 3 inches. Just one of those things you just have to get to know your equipment!!!
  12. Re: Some recent pics Man that last buck will be AWESOME in a few yrs, great potential!!!!
  13. Re: Just gotta brag..... Hearing that is better than any big buck story....EVER!!! Tell him he congrads and he wont ever regret it!

  15. Re: Deer processing I save one back strap for steaks and the rest becomes jerky. No matter how much jerky I always get I always find myself running short down the road..
  16. Re: Camera at the blind Quit post live shots and start postin some dead ones with you holdin um!!!!!!! Looks like you have got a HONEY HOLE!!!!
  17. Re: Help with Sighting????? Thanks for you input VTBowman!!!!!!
  18. Re: NC HUNTERS I am in the Asheboro area, and with the moon still being really bright, things have been pretty slow. I havent seen anything yet good quality either. I saw a good basket rack 6 the other mornin but he needs to grow more but other than that, rutting activity has been on the slow end.
  19. Re: Help with Sighting????? The set up: -Ruger .454 Casull with a 9.5 inch barrel -Bushnell Elite FF 2x6x30 scope -A table similar to yours with plywood but has wooded legs. -Hornady 240 grain bullets -as for the rest I am shooting off of a "sight vise", but I am thinkin about tradin that is for a sand bag, because you just cant beat a good ol sand bag. -It is on paper and I am out between 50-60 yards. I think I got all you asked
  20. I am new to the sport of handgun hunting and it is so frustrating tryin to sight the thing in. i got a 454 Casull with a scope at the end of last season. I have been trying to sight it in but I cant even get a place to start at. I hear people take about these small patterns with handguns and I dont see how they do it. Ive been practiceing but it seems that I am getting no where???? Any help on sighting advice and shooting consistantly in general?
  21. Re: Shooting Hours or Seeing Hours??? I have often wondered this many times over and over. Yes its the law to be followed, but I think that it can be taken either way also. Whats the point in buying good equipment that gives you an advantage (such as a scope) if you can see the same thing at the end of legal hours with a cheap one?????? I AM NOT SAYING I BREAK TO RULES, BECAUSE THATS AGAINST THE LAW/ETHICS. But that is one point to be taken into consideration. I agree with HaDeRonDa that if you can CLEARLY distingush what it is without aid from any type of light, then you should be able to go for it. But, its the rules and without rules then it would be complete craziness.
  22. Re: NC buck down!! What county did you get him in? Very nice NC deer BTW too.
  23. Really the only reason why I am posting this on here is because I think that that this movie hit several points on our government. I am glad that this movie came out, it showed many things about how the election process runs these days. The politicians put on a "show" and use the TV to bash one another and try to cut each other down just to win. I just wish that we would have a candidate that would really be as honest as Tom Dobbs was and had nothing to hide from and admitted the truth to what ever he was critized for. Also another thing that I took from this movie (and yes I know it is Hollywood and a movie), is it seems we are dividend extremely into political parties. Meaning we are voting for the parties, not the person and whos BEST. EXAMPLE: I herd someone say the other day, "I voted straight one party (not saying which) just so that the other would not win, and I did not even know who some of the candidates where" I AM NOT POSTING THIS TO BASH ANYTHING/ANYONE.............. I am just posting this because that movie has alot of reality to it. Honestly, I really thought whether or not to post this because it always seem that when politics are discussed, arguements always break out and someone ends up getting mad at someone else. I just wanted to mention a thought I had on a movie that really hit home with our country! MAY GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY AND THE FUTURE IT HOLDS!
  24. Re: Ruff night Did you notice if the doe dropped when you shot at her, that could have been the reason you cought her on the back and got the leaf dead on.
  25. Re:passing deer-frustration setting in(pics added) Another thing about passing on them, if I have to think twice about shooting the deer, it walks. What I mean by that is if I have to think to my self is he big enough yet, is he old enough, I dont grab my gun/bow instantly. If any second though comes to mind I pass, becuase I know when the right one walks out there not going to be any second thinking about him!
