  1. You should be fine. The only time you really need to worry is when he finds you in your treestand. You probably arent the first human that he has seen walking through the woods.
  2. I would say the 5x7 is bigger and the 4x4 is younger. Id definately go for the 5x7 cause you just dont see a deer like that ever year like you would a 4x4. But get ahold of which ever rack comes out first!
  3. Most of the time I am alone when I hunt since I am in college. Wierd hunting times.. Every once in awhile I will have someone else with me, but most of the time I am alone. That why I brought up the idea of going by the stand and stop and then move off a little way, park, and then walk back in. So ill give it a shot and see how it turns out. All ill do is spook them either way. I just figured since they were more used to 4-wheelers than me, they may come back easier.
  4. I have two stands that are just about impossible to get into in the AM without jumping deer. Deer are either feeding in the corn pile or bedded somewhere along the way. 4-wheelers are not an uncommon sound to deer where I am hunting. Do you think that riding the 4-wheeler close enough to the stand to get the deer to run off for a little bit and drive away and walk back in would work? Reason why I ask, is because both stands I have pictures of good bucks, and some are in the AM. Also I rode past a field today(afternoon) and ran the deer out while my buddy was trying to get in the stand and they came back and he got an 8 pt.
  5. Ok heres the question... I have a small food plot on a small 9 acre tract that I have permission to hunt. This summer I put a hang on stand up in pretty much the only place it could be put. The problem is, the wind has changed now and it blowing from behind me over my left shoulder. The deer are also bedded almost down wind too, or that is the direction I have always seen them come. There is a nice buck on that small tract that I am after, but I dont wanna spook him either. Since it is so small and really no have no room to hang the stand somewhere else and they are bedded down wind pretty much, how would you suggest going about hunting this? Thanks for the input!
  6. I would have to agree that you have some shooters on you hands! Now lets see them in your hands!

  8. Looks GREAT!!! My uncle does something similar to that, and I love it. One thing he does different is he sometimes puts a homemade sasuage link in there and with all the other goodies. But either way its FANTASTIC!!!!!
  9. Where do you get all the parts and stuff to make your own?

  14. Do you think that the deer in the 2nd picture is the same deer that is in the last picture? I have been looking at these pictures none stop trying to know what I need to wait for if they started commin out, haha. Anyway I know in these pictures that the buck in the 2nd one looks like his right side is lackin, but after looking at it closer, under a little better quality, his G2 is the same length as the one on the left side. I know in the pics. here you cannot tell it, but if you go under my photo album and click on the photo it clears it up some and you can see the right G2. So do you think that deer is the 2nd picture is the same one in the last picture or are they different deer?
  15. Thanks for lightening those up Buckee!!!!! I had 37 pictures and only had 3 pictures with a doe in them. I have counted 8 different bucks at this stand, so I am hoping that I can get a crack at one of the bigger ones and save the smaller ones for next year!!!!! Also, I am hoping that with this many bucks of this size, I can get one of the bigger ones jealous when the rut rolls around with the rattlin horns!
  16. I am hunting over a clover(ladino) plot in an area where I just thinned out the smaller trees and left the bigger ones. I gets sun but not and over dose. It actually helped it stay alive being out of the direct sunlight during the times of drought and heat. Deer feel safer in it since it pretty much still looks like the woods too. ONE BIG THING......... if you are planting in the woods, esp. around oaks, make sure you get rid of as many leaves as possible. The leaves are too acidic for clover to grow in, so get rid of them and it will come right up!
  17. Looks like a tumor, but everyone Ive talked to about them say that it does nothing to the meat. The beauty of it is only skin deep, haha!!! Nice pics!
  18. I just got the camera outta the woods tonight after I got in from college and I am SOOOOO ready to go hunt now!!!!!!!
