  1. Great looking deer! Is that vegetation or ticks on that last one?
  2. Not a big fan of most expandables except a couple.I think the rage 2 blade and Rocky Mountain Gator XP's are great broad heads that fly like field tips. I use the XP's and have had great success with them. Last year I hit a doe high in the shoulder blade. It went through the body and the tip was sticking out the other side. The deer went about 100 yards.
  3. Got to love symetrical 10 pointers! Congratulations! Heck of a shot you made too. I'd say he'll Gross 120 inches and net a few less.
  4. Bear TRX from 2003. Have 11 harvests with it.
  5. Lot of people have had poor results with American Pioneer Powder but it sure works good in my Remington and isn't as hard to clean as regular black powder. You can buy a breech plug cleaner for your T/C. Worth it if you ask me.
  6. Thing is a lot of the people that disagree with your political views are likely thinking the same thing about you that you think about them. A lot of people think they have the "right" idea. From my experience I have found the truth to generally be somewhere in between. I'd never be the one that let politics ruin a relationship with a family member. I'd just talk about something else as Nut indicated.
  7. I guess Tominator was right... There are no deer in Ohio! Us Illinois boys will pick up the slack.
  8. Hi Ruth, I'd be glad to discuss some things about obtaining a graduate degree in nursing. I teach on-line nursing classes and have been working for 2 years getting a nurse educator (MSN) program online. I've reviewed the program you've been looking at. Before committing I'd advise you to speak with some graduates of the programs and get their take on it. I'd also advise you to think hard about the program that is right for you. I say this because the new DNP (Doctorate of Nursing Practice) is gaining popularity throughout the Nation and will likely be the terminal degree for Nurse Practitioners and other Advance Practice Nurses. If you want to go into education the MSN would currently be the logical choice although there are some BSN-PhD programs out there. Anyway I'm around if you feel inclined. There are more online programs out there than you might think. Good ones are pricey but a lot of employers have tuition re-imbursement as other members have indicated.
  9. I'm really looking foward to hunting season this year and furthering the relationship I have with the Father/Son/Holy Spirit. I've always felt closest when in nature. It's really cool knowing Christs love. I wish it for everyone!
  10. That's great! I love stories like this (especially with photos). Glad to hear Cobequid did you right!
  11. And I thought my one and only outfitting experience was bad! Sorry to hear about your trip. DIY hunts are the only way to go for me.
  12. Season starts this Thursday! Wow how I've been waiting to say those sweet words. Ruth, glad to see you were able to get the sig to work. The time has come to put the "Scaredown" on a whitetail!
  13. The "f" in fly is for my first name Frank. The "ly" is the first 2 letters of my last name. My user name used to include my entire last name but I changed it to just fly. I love to fly fish so it seemed appropriate. My signature I use when not in a contest is attached. When I changed it to fly a few jokes were made. Below is some artwork by either Steve (Buckee) of Gary - they both are good at making fun as most here can attest to. Wouldn't be the same without em.
  14. Nose at least twice. I was about 12 pitching and an older kid hit a line drive into my nose. Then at 14 I was sledding and the snow had iced over so the steering was not as responsive as the day before. Thought I could steer clear of the telephone pole but thought wrong. Since I was on my belly I hit it face first. Looking back I'm lucky it wasn't a spinal cord injury. Had it operated on at age 15. Left arm three times. First was my senior year in highschool during a football game. Broke the radius bone into three pieces. Best thing is it was caught on video so the next week the whole team cringed as they watched my arm bend in a most non-natual way. One week after getting the cast off broke it again doing the crab-walk during spirit week in highschool (btw...I won the race). Third time was while it was still in the cast. I was busting some rusted bolts off my cars muffler and busted my arm again. Not sure how it happened in a cast, but the doctor was sure getting tired of seeing me. Also broke a coulple ribes on my last day in the Army National Guard. My platoon decided to play pile on with me on the bottom as a going away surprise. Thanks guys you're the best! Finally I teach clinical on a trauma intensive care unit in St. Louis. I see some really crazy stuff there!
  15. Well dance and shoot I see you have 30 something posts but I missed your earlier ones so I'll welcome ya to RT here. I've been to the Cabela's you work at. Bought some fly's to fish the Provo. Caught my biggest brookie to date there last September. I'm from the Illinois side of St. Louis and I'm a teacher.
  16. Hunterbobb I'm not banning you cause you know how to treat a lady. According to my wife (some of the time anyway) I guess I'm banning myself for that reason.:clown:
  17. Sometimes both! Generally a fannypack with a climbing treestand on my back.
  18. 15 points for the team right there! Good luck finding him.
  19. The antlers say 3.5, but the body says 2.5 years. When in doubt I go with the body. The neck seems too skinny for a 3.5 year old deer. I'd give him another year as long as I'd be hunting there next year and no one else would be around to pop him.
  20. 1. Star Wars !!! (nothing even close) 2. The Outlaw Josey Wales 3. Braveheart 4. A River Runs Through it I must say I spend more hours watching Monsterbucks videos than any other movie.
  21. I've been at 57 lbs. for years. This year I went ahead and increased to 61 lbs. I could shoot higher, but there really is no need in my opinion.
  22. Congrats on your new head gear treeinwalker. I always play the wind when I can. Sometimes it changes on me and I have no option, but I do believe that a buck in rut may spook if it smells human odor. Best bet would be to figure out where they bed! Likely the thickest stuff on the property. Set up 100 yards from that spot and try grunting. If it's during the rut or post-rut try rattling and maybe a decoy. Just spray it down and wear gloves when handling it to avoid getting human scent on it. Good luck!
  23. That's a dream maker right there!
  24. Congratulations on a fine looking elk!
  25. Must be that IL was too warm for him so he headed north. Last mistake he'll make.
