  1. Been experimenting with my Damascus forging, trying new patterns. I call this one "Wavy Feather". This is one of my new Camp Knives in the Wavy Feather pattern and Mammoth Ivory handles. Still working on the Bowies for the Hunting Heritage Trust but have a little breathing room to try new things. Hope you like her.

Totally agree with this assessment William, NEVER should have happened! Makes my blood boil that the media is AGAIN spinning this as the "guns" fault, totally ignoring the fact that an unstable person was given the return of his firearms even after them being taken due to exigent circumstances. His father is as much at fault as he is, maybe more so because he knew that his son was unstable and gave the firearms back to him anyway.
  3. Day one is done - 12 coveys flushed and 15 quail in the cooler. Tomorrow may be a hard day, temps in the upper 70's.
  4. Why for you tease me so, wish I could grab an Axis while down here but not enough time this trip. Thanks everyone for the good info, made it into Abilene and ready to start after those pesky Quail first light tomorrow morning.
  5. Pearl it is then - Thanks for the info.
  6. Headed to Abilene, was planning on stopping overnight in Meridian will push on to Jackson instead. Thanks for the heads up.
  7. Headed for west Texas - going to try and reduce the Quail population while out there. Taking the southern route through Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana any sights that are a MUST see along the way? Will be traveling via route 20 for most of the way.
  8. Temps warming back up here over the weekend, so hitting it hard in the shop. Went out this morning and due to the melt yesterday and refreeze overnight the door to the shop was frozen shut. Went back in the house and had another cup of coffee and gave it a bit for the temps to get up.
  9. Great job - I really like the use of the old barn wood for the base.
  10. 68 degrees yesterday - woke up to 27 degrees this morning. Should have plugged in the heat tape on the anvil last night. Going to be slow going this morning. I need another cup of coffee.
  11. Exactly what I was thinking - started sketching out a Bowie just for that last evening. Now I just need to find someone to hook me up with a source for the leather rig.
  12. I know this probably belongs elsewhere and if so admins please feel to move or remove - just wanted to share. Just received this lady today from Corey B. James III at Bayou Advanced Weapons Systems - Uberti framed Remington 1858. Every bit of this Lady has been gone through and honed and polished to a fine tuned machine. Almost too pretty to shoot but rest assured I will shoot and enjoy her.
  13. Beautiful work right there.
  14. Still in the deep freeze here and it has been rough forging but am getting a few pieces done, hope to get a few more buttoned up tomorrow.
  15. I want to try my hand with a traditional Hawkin - can anyone recommend a particular make or kit that would be something more than a wall hanger?
  16. Headed to south Alabama to visit youngest daughter and her family and have CHRISTmas with them.
  17. Gotta love heat tape - only way I can warm up my anvil on mornings like this. These are the days I enjoy working in the forge. Just have to thaw out the sluff bucket.
  18. I received a Cabela's Sling Pack from Flyerla - exactly what I needed. Now I just need to decide if I will use it as a new possibles bag or fly fishing pack. Decisions, decisions. Thank you Frank.
  19. Merry CHRISTmas everyone - finishing up a few late orders tonight and then local deliveries tomorrow and help out at the Salvation Army soup kitchen tomorrow evening. Family coming in for our traditional chili dinner CHRISTmas Eve and this year my oldest grandson will read the Night Before CHRISTmas for the first time (been my job until now) he will also regale us with the playing of Jingle Bells on his guitar. I wish for each and every one of you the very best of health and joy this wonderful season and on into the New Year.
  20. If you look real close you will see that there is a package from Cabela's under the tree behind Bowie. Bowie won't even let me get near it, I think he knows I have to wait for CHRISTmas day. Frank the anticipation is killing me - your's goes out Monday.
  21. So sorry for your loss Dave - Kneemail headed your way.
