  1. And then there were 6 - whoo hoo, I am getting excited!
  2. Thanks for the belly laugh, needed that.
  3. So, it looks like just 4 of us for the CHRISTmas Exchange?

    Maybe

No joy this morning, fingers crossed for this evening. I know they are out there, scrapes all over the place.
  5. Attended my grandchildren's school this morning for their Salute to Veterans. They had a young girl read "America's White Table" while other students actually set the table during the reading. Brought tears to my eyes, reminding me of all those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for the very freedoms we enjoy on a daily basis that others are trying so hard to take away from us. I have buried too many brothers and sisters in arms over the years, many in foreign lands to take for granted what we have here at home. I worry daily what kind of country are we going to leave for my grandchildren to grow up in. Marine Corps Birthday Celebration with the few brothers remaining from my squadron then hopefully tag one tomorrow so I can put some meat in the freezer.

Finally a bit of cloud cover and some cooler temps. Might stand a chance at getting to tag one this weekend. Fingers crossed, my Horton is hungry and my freezer is getting empty. I hope everyone else's season is going better than mine.
  7. Rain and upper 70s here today. Big full moon last night, too dang warm. Deer aren't moving at all unless at night. So far my season is only 1 yote and 1 hog. Wish we had a fall turkey season, could have taken a dozen or more.
  8. Well Monday lived up[ to her nasty self yesterday. First I wake up to a message from a very dear friend's son that my friend had passed away during the night with no warning. Then Mother Nature reared her angry head and dropped at least two tornadoes on us, could have been three, not sure on the third one yet. No damage to our house but plenty of damage all around us, my sister has quite a bit of extensive damage to her house, including the power meter being knocked off the house and Duke Power says they don't own the meter and will not repair it, so she has to hire an electrician to reattach the meter before Duke Power will turn her power back on. I don't get it Duke Power installed the meter to begin with so why wouldn't they be responsible for repairs?
  9. Outstanding - Love Goldens - those two are a match for sure.
  10. Do you still have a CHRISTmas Exchange? If so count me in.
  11. I remember the crash like it was yesterday - heard about it all the way in the middle of the Med. I will be working in the shop this weekend trying to get a jump on my CHRISTmas orders.
  12. Cutting the yard this morning and then wife wants to go to a quilt show in Asheville this afternoon.
  13. So sorry to hear this my friend - kneemail on the way for you and your family.
  14. I find myself in need of a new safe - I have read many reviews that say to stay away from the ones at the big box stores. What does everyone else have or recommend? 10-15 long guns with room for 6-8 sidearms and ammo for all.
  15. Trunk is about 2.5 feet in diameter - roughly 30-35 feet tall and 20-25 foot spread. Not sure on the watering as we had over 8 inches of rain with Hurricane Irma, which coupled with the wind I think led to the current issue. Roots are not exposed at this time but tree has a very pronounced lean to one side.
  16. Checking around and picking up all the downed branches from Hurricane Irma yesterday, I discovered that my Pecan tree was pushed over slightly in all the wind, she is not completely uprooted but headed that way. My question is if anyone knows if this tree can be saved/uprighted and made safe or have I lost her completely and does she need to come down. The tree is in the front yard and leaning toward the driveway and the power lines coming into the house.
  17. We are battered and bruised but still here. Irma smacked us good here in the upstate of SC but nowhere near what has happened in Florida, Georgia and the coastal areas. Kneemail continues for all those affected by Harvey and Irma, praying that José keeps his distance.
  18. Helping my neighbor paint his mother's house.
  19. Took my Henry out and put a few downrange. This is at 100 yards with Federal Fusion 300 grain. Don't have any glass for her yet but am open to suggestions. I have always used Nikon in the past and that is what I have on my CVA 50 but never having a lever gun before am at a loss as to what would be best for her.
  20. Looks great - who did the work?
  21. Grilled my last backstrap from last season for dinner today. Good thing we are only a few weeks away from this season. Tried Jack Daniels Hickory BBQ Sauce for the first time and I must say it wasn't half bad, a little sweeter than I usually like. What does everyone else use on their backstraps?
  22. Got the grass cut, now headed to the shop for the rest of the day. Trying to decide where we are going to head Monday to catch the eclipse. We are just outside the band of totality by about 5 miles. All of the hotels and motels within a 100 mile radius have been full up for a week now. There were even posts on Craigslist looking for rooms to rent. I know the roads will be gridlocked Monday so we are gonna head out early Monday morning and take a picnic lunch along.
  23. I would definitely ask the principal to sit in as well as the special education teachers that are aware of his challenges. My wife teaches at the SC School for the Deaf and Blind and has for over 30 years, I know all too well from talking with her that there are indeed some teachers out there who should no longer be teaching because they have an "It is my way and that is the only way no matter the individual." attitude. I hope this is not the case with your son's teacher. Good luck.
