  1. I just cast my vote for you. Keep us updated when the next vote might be :gun2:
  2. I think Swamp got it 100% right. I agree completely with everything he says. :gun2:
  3. You are both right but you are both wrong. There is a difference between a shotgun scope and a rifle scope. Shotgun scopes are usually set to be Paralax free at 50 yards Rifle scopes are usually set to be paralax free at 100 yards. When you see a scope with an adjustable objective lens this lens adjusts the paralax setting. Now what exactly all this means is very complicated and 99% of the time doesn't matter a bit. As far are the scope preforming differently ballistically that is not true. So go ahead with your plan and mount it on the 223 and enjoy it. It should work fine. I do like bluelunds idea though, seems like a great reason to buy a new gun to me. :gun2:
  4. My dogs full name is "Remington Lilly Cinders" it's that whole AKC thing you know. We call Her REMI and I love her more than anything, except when she eats rabbit poop. :gun2:
  5. I am a bit of a amatuear social anthropoligist. This is a topic I have thought long and hard over and I have a theory about when things changed. I am fairly certain it was 1968. That was the year that the country lost faith in many of it's earlier held beliefs. It was the year of the TET offensive and the realization that the war in Vietnam could not be won. It was the year of the assination of Bobby Kennedy and Martin Luther King. These lead to race riots on a scale never before seen in this country. While I don't agree with the politics of either man you can't deny the impact their death had on this country. It was the year of the Chicago riots at the Democratic National Convention. It was the year the phrase "never trust anyone over thirty" was coined. That statement more than anything has been the rally cry for our slow march into the touchy feely politicaly correct society we now find our selves in. After all how can a society that does not respect their elders ever hope to learn from them.

    Buckwear

I love buckwear I just wish they printed the stuff on the front instead of on the back.
  7. Just another example of Kids these days not being able to follow simple directions. LOL I knew what you meant right away. :hammer1:
  8. My dream home would actually be two homes. The first would be a million dollar house on Green Lake in Wisconsin. That way I am still close enough to the cities to conduct buissness. The second would be a very nice log cabin preferabaly on a lake with at least 100 acres of my own woods in northern Wisconsin. That way I could go there when I need alone time. :gun2:
  9. Wtnhunt is right The brownells oxpho blue is probably the best cold bluing product on the market. There are several things to consider, cold bluing does an excellent job of touching up and matching spots so you don't have to reblue the whole gun. However cold bluing is not as durable and you will probably have to touch it up every three to four years. Hot bluing however requires that you do the whole portion of the gun to be done. That can be just the receiver, just the barrel or the whole gun. The disadvatage to hot blueing is that is is more expensive and you can't just touch up small areas. The advantage is once you do it with proper care it will never have to be done again. :gun2:
  10. That is awesome. (Not what I would have choosen for my self) but I bet your daughter loves it. Make sure you post pictures of anything she shoots with it. I think Swampy would like a gun like that. :gun2:
  11. When I was in the army in Germany I had the oppurtunity to hunt some German deer. The Germans and most of the Europeans I believe have an actual cerimony they conduct over the fallen game animal. It pays tribute to the kill. It is a tradition I have continued since returning to the USA. It is all so the reason I never watch hunting videos anymore. I just feel all the fist pumping, highfiving and celebrating is just not showing the proper respect to the game. :gun2:
  12. Just another example of you get what you pay for. There is a reason prices are cheaper at the BIG BOX stores and lack of customer service is one of them. If the employees can't speak English they probably can't read it either. So even if they had a policiy, the probably illegal imigrant couldn't read it any way. If the pictures were that important to you you should have taken them to a photo store. I know it sucks and I'm sorry you lost your pictures. Hopefully though you learned a lesson. :gun2:
  13. I hear you brother (pun intended). I've been there and done that all a hundred times. :gun2:
  14. No doubt in my mind. If it was me I would go with the Remington 700 CDL. It is probably the most attractive production rifle on the market. It is a rifle you can feel proud to be using. I own ten model 700's in different calibers and configurations and all of them will shoot very close to 1" groups or smaller right out of the box. Put a little work into them like a trigger job. (which you might not even need anymore if it has the new X trigger.) and they are tack drivers. My 270 which has had a lot of custom work will shoot .25" groups on a regular basis. If 308 or 30-06 were my only choices I think I would go for the 308. However, my first choice would be a 270. :gun2:
  15. My vote would be for Wisconsin too. Just another case of the government limiting our freedom. We can't even vote for the state we want too. LOL :gun2:
  16. "Just a peckerwood living in the hills with too many guns" The Kid. Hey Kid you can never have too many guns. I'm having a ham salad sandwhich and a Pepsi :gun2:
  17. I have a BS in Poli Sci an MS in International Relations. (Study something useful while you can TBOW) I am a Retired U.S. Army Officer I currently work as a Correctional Officer. In my spare time I run a small gun shop out of my house. I am a certified Rifle instructor by the US Army and The NRA. I used to teach a tactical rifle course at a local gun club. :gun2:
  18. I haven't heard anything about pressure problems with 7 MM barrels. However, if it is true I would think the problem would be compounded in the 300 barrel. :gun2:
  19. Tikka is owned by the same company that owns Sako. They are made in Finland. They are economical versions of Sako's. I have a couple friends that own Tikka's and they love them. I have a couple of Sako's and they shoot like they are on fire. Great guns that I would never part with. The best part about yours is you got it for basically free. Way to go. :gun2:
  20. Back during the assualt gun ban and the high capacity magazine ban, yea they were worth $80.00. However that legislation has expired so the prices have come way down. If they are Factory HK though they are worth more than $25 or $30. I think I would ask $40.00 a piece for them. If you can't sell them for that you can always let them talk you down a few bucks. :gun2:
  21. I agree with Ranger. I think they are a gimmick and they are are as ugly as sin. :gun2:
  22. If you do start reloading, check out the Nosler Partition 180 gr. bullet. Partitions are not known for their accuracy, so you will have to keep shots to a reasonable distance. Probably under 300 yards as long as you do your job. Where they excel though is penitration. I they are like the Energizer bunny when it comes to penetration. They keep going and going. I have never had a partition that did not fully penetrate any animal I shot. Exit wounds are almost always pouring blood and leaving a blood trail a color blind person can follow. :gun2:
  23. I like the sounds of that camp ground on the Illinios Indiana Line. I'm in and I'll ride with Randy. We can split gas costs. I'll bring some Venison smoked sauage for the grill.
  24. Went to see Green Zone yesterday. It was an entertaining movie but was filled with "Bush Lied" propoganda. I saw a movie on DVD called "Lovely Bones" it is the story of a pedifile that kills a young girl. It is told from the perspective of the dead girl. It was very difficult to watch because of how powerful the story was. Any one that has children though should watch it and watch it alone. The message is must see for parents. P.S. Even you tough guys should bring Kleneex. :gun2:

    Turbo Tax

I got turbo tax on line through my bank. If I agreed to direct deposit the return I got the Federal Return for 29.99 and the state for 39.99. Then they will deduct thr fees from your return so you don't even really miss it. I have been using it for at least five years. It takes aboout an hour to do it and I get my refunds super fast. I got my State refund in 5 days and my federal in 14. This is the best software I have ever gotten on line. I'll never use anything else to do my taxes again. Plus it saves all your information from year to year so you can import any information that hasn't changed. That saves a load of time. :gun2:
