  1. Doesn't anyone on this forum hunt pheasants. I have been watching for pheasant posts and haven't seen anything. Would like to know how everyone elses season went. :gun2:
  2. The 25-06 is definatly the way to go. It is a much better caliber than the 243. Recoil even with a 120 gr bullet is very manageable. As mark says she can practice with 90 grain bullets and then hunt with the 120's. If she does practice with a 90 grain bullet there will actually be less felt recoil from the 25-06 than a 100 gr load from a 243. Not only is the bullet lighter but because the 25-06 will have a longer action the rifle will weigh slightly more. All of this will contributes to less felt recoil. Unless your daugter weighs only 50 pounds and is a real girly girl, I am sure she can handle the 25-06. :gun2:
  3. I use #4 shot and a 1 5/8 ounce load. The lighter load gives me a few extra FPS at the muzzel stretching the distance I can shoot a little. I am obviously using a turkey extra full choke tube and they pattern well out to 55 yards. I think that the increased velocity is helping to keep the pattern together. I can't prove it just a hunch. I haven't taken any shots over 40 yards yet but it is nice to know I have that extra range if I need it. :gun2:
  4. Tominator all you have to do is invite me over for a hunt. Everywhere I go it rains. I went to the Shot Show in Las Vegas in January. It rained for four days when I was there. Las Vegas is in the middle of the desert and it rained for four days when I was there. They had so much rain their sewers couldn't handle it. I went to Texas last year in October for a five day bow hunt. It rain everyday. I went to Maine last year in May. Hurricane Bill got there the same day I did. :gun2: So Tominator what you got I can hunt down by you.
  5. Great looking pup. Is he a Gordon Retriever. :gun2:
  6. I have a 45 Tactical model. I love it except it doesn't have a thumb safety. :gun2:
  7. cute puppy. That Kong Wubbie you bought him his a great toy. My lab has four of them and she loves em. :gun2:
  8. CCI makes a shot shell load for several different pistol cartriges. From a few feet away they make mince meat of a snakes head. They are fairly quite and don't disturb the woods as much as a 2 ounce turkey load does.
  9. I've always meant to try but haven't gotten around to it yet. I imagine it must be great practice. :gun2:
  10. I don't use one anymore. I find them to restrictive and I suspect them of being scent factories. I can't prove it. Just my opinion. :gun2:
  11. If facebook counts as one then there and here is it. :gun2:
  12. I want to start out my saying I greatly admire the jewish people and Think that the State of Israeli (sorry cause I'm pretty sure I spelled it wrong) is probably the only country that has it's head on straight. However, I am really sick of holocaust survior stories. Plus why don't we ever hear about the 6 million Russian's, Pole's, Czech's, Gypseys and others that the Germans killed in the concentration camps. It has been 60 years and we are still being bobarded by new movies from Hollwood. I am not sying that we should forget about what happened. But there are other acts of genicide happening right this minute which only get a quick mention in the news. Finally I see no reason why this should be on a hunting web site.
  13. Service, what the heck is that ? I don't mean to brag but I'm sure some of you can relate. I don't even bother asking questions anymore because I know way more about what I'm buying then any one working in any store I know of. The days of the knowledgeable gun dealer are over. These guys working the stores now I think are probably former used car salesmen. If you ask them about something they don't stock they just bash that product and try to sell you something else that they just happen to have on special. I may have been born at night but it wasn't last night. :gun2:

    Dreams

I rarely dream about people I know. So NO :gun2:
  15. I went. it was pretty much the same as every year. Due to Obamanomics I didn't spend as much as I usually do, but still had fun. I saw CampWildGirls there. She had a booth set up. Stopped and talked to her for a second. If you see this, Hi there Wild Girl. Hope you enjoyed the show. :gun2:
  16. I don't use an arm guard. I've never been slapped since I started using a compound bow. I'm not sure if that means I have good form or I just don't shoot enough. :gun2:
  17. Seems like a lot of people making perfect shots on does. Maybe because we don't get as excited. I had a perfect shot on a doe at about 30 yards. Which is about my max range for deer. She was quatering away. I put the arrow right where it was suppose to be. She ran about 40 yards and dropped over stone dead. :gun2:
  18. I couldn'r see the sighn either. :gun2:
  19. Darn I was going to say that and you beat me to it. :gun2:
  20. I had two. They gave me Vicodin for the pain. I had no problems. :gun2:
  21. Dude, it's Wisconsin and it is April you had to know we were going to get it sooner or later. :gun2:
  22. I have a H & R Handi Rifle in 44 mag. It shoots go and is a fun gun. However, I have lots of guns in better calibers for any sort of hunting you can think of, so I don't see myself actually using it for anything but targets. If you want to get it for hunting, there are lots of better calibers. If it is just for fun go for it. :gun2:

    Geocaching

I've been thinking about getting into this but I haven't started yet. :gun2:
  24. Congrats on the new rifle. I am 53 years old, I still have the 22 I bought on my 18th birthday. It is still like new. I haven't shot it for awhile so I think I'll take it out this weekend. :gun2:
