  1. I don't know much about Elk hunting but I do know guns. As everyone has said use what you feel comfortable with. Since you are using the 300 WSM I would use a 180 gr bullet. I would also make sure it was a controlled expansion bullet such as a Nosler Partion or a Barnes X bullet. Elk are big targets and require a lot of penetration to get to the vitals. Especially if you have a less than ideal shot. Don't try to save a few bucks by using a cheap bullet. Ammunition is definatly not the place you want to scrimp. :gun2:
  2. Nice photos. Where do you hunt. I hunt west of Buffalo in the bighorn mountains. :gun2:
  3. So do you have any openings for this season or are you booking for next season yet.
  4. Hello Ladies, I have a 10 year old niece that is ready to start hunting. I have taught my son and three nephews but this will be my first time up with a young lady. Is there any thing special I should know about teaching my niece. I know that men and women look at things differently. So I was wondering if you all have any experiences either positive or negative that would be helpful for me. I have been taking her fishing for three years now and she loves it. She will even baits her own hook with leeches. That is something I couldn't do till I was 40, so she's not a sissy. :gun2:
  5. I have always believed that you get what you pay for. However, sometimes you are paying extra for the name. For this reason I almost always but everything in the Mid price range. I believe that buying middle of the road pricewise gets you the best value for the dollar. On the other hand there is nothing wrong with buying the high end equipment if that is what you want. But never ever by the cheap stuff you will be sorry in the end. There is always a reason it is cheap. :gun2:
  6. So sorry you have to go through this. Prayers are on the way. My church has a prayer chain, if we know her first name I can put it out for prayers from the chain.
  7. There is a thread on here that I want to save because it has some useful information. Does anyone know if there is a way to save a thread. If I print it or write it down I will just lose it. :stupid:
  8. Actually Yea I hunt the UP every year. Near Iron Mountain. I wonder what Wisconsins biggest attraction is. That might be the basis for an interesting thread. Whats the biggest attraction in your area. I guess it would be Wisconsin Dells here. Oh and by the way I've been to Indiana too. Not much to do there either. LOL
  9. It's always great to get paid for something you like to do. I do a fair amount of gunsmith work for my friends. I almost hate to charge them cause it is so much fun.
  10. I believe in them. I've had several encounters. I saw one, have had several encounters with doors opening on there own or radios turning off and on by themselves. When I was at Gettysburg battle field I would smell rotting flesh. No one else could smell a thing. I smelt it as plain as if I stuck my head in a garbage can. I never heard of any one smelling ghosts before. I wouldn't worry about having a ghost in your house. I believe most of them are just lost spirits and have no intention to harm us.

    wow!

I didn't see it when it was posted before. Never thought I would see a black man that was that Anti-Obama. I agree the tea parties are on the right track. However, I was a little disappointed he left Wisconsin out of the list of the revolution cause I'm ready. LOL
  12. How does the wrist sling attach to the bow.
  13. Ain't it great getting a new toy. Having to wait two weeks to shoot it is pure **** though. What ever scope you decide on make sure it is desighned for muzzel loaders. Regular rifle scopes don't always hold up so well on a muzzel loader.
  14. I bought some metal silloutes for 22's a few years ago. Those are a blast to shoot. The chickens at 25 yards are really quite a challenge.
  15. I passed on a couple of Jakes. I don't kill jakes anymore. I've killed enough and figure I will give them a chance to get a little smarter.
  16. Thats cool looking. What is the slate made out of and how is it attached.
  17. I have to agree with Doc. Too many variables here.
  18. You don't want to see mine. Nothing special, plain vanilla and I only use it once a year.
  19. Thanks Muggs. It's a good thing we have you around to keep us straight.
  20. I think there is a special place in **** for people like this.
  21. Michigan must be pretty boring if Cabela's is the most visited attraction. Don't get me wrong. I love Cabela's. there is one about 40 minutes from me. But come on the most visited attraction in MIchigan. Thats a little bit sad.
  22. My credit rating is so bad anyone stealing my identity would probably improve my credit. LOL I spend every dime I make on guns and hunting.
  23. Not sure if the story is true or not. If it is true it's even funnier.
  24. I watched top shots and I can out shot them all.
