  1. Pointing Dog----Apply for a Point on your 1st choice, 2nd choice apply for for a cow tag for that unit, 3rd choice could be otc bull tag. This way you'll get a point & still have a chance at a cow tag. Last resort would be a general bull tag.

    Vegas!

Be there done that. I use to go when the Trop was at the end of the Strip. I played in the Sands, The Desert Inn, Stardust etc. Alot of the old time places that have been torn down for the new casinos. It holds no interest to me anymore. I'd rather vacation in AK or back pack in the Rockies. But I did like to gamble.
  3. Can we pin this thread either in the lounge or big game section so it doesn't get stale? This is one of those hunts that is on my bucket list.
  4. Steve----Where did the thread go about that black bear hunt in 2013? Is it still in the works? Sounds like a great deal----hope it can happen. Starting to do some long range planning, hope I can work it in.
  5. Snapper points are good for 10 years id memory serves me correctly. You can go to the website on check-----go to big game hunting, then preference points/draw results, type in your data & you should come up with your points. As far as someone use a bow? The elk will have been hunted for 2 months----they will be nervous best use a 30/06, 7Mag etc. If someone wants to hunt a cow. Application deadline is 4/3. Same deadline for deer.
  6. Thomas Jefferson Jaguars----Black & Gold. From SW PA-----had to be Steeler colors !!!
  7. For that I would be looking at a used 11-87 or 1100. I'm stilling shooting my Red Label, I bought it to shoot & that's what I'm doing. I hope its all worn out when they put it in the casket with me. Bob
  8. Just mailed my application in today. 1st rifle, either sex in my unit.
  9. I use a stair climber for my cardio-----30 minutes about 4 times a week-- year round. I'll start hiking & back packing in the mtns for some altitude training during the summer months. I'll start @ the 4th of July with weights to get ready for elk hunting in October. I'm 57 it gets harder every year.
  10. Steve is that Prince of Wales?
  11. Nope----I won't go until it comes west of the Mississippi.
  12. With the 3"----I can get 9 pellets of #4 buck or 5 pellets of 000. Plan on seeing which one holds the best pattern & which one penetrates the best. I like it because my wife likes it & can shoot it-----unlike my 357. It can also ride in the car's center console.
  13. I just bought a Judge. It's the 3" barrel & 3" Mag---blued gun. I shot my buddies a few month ago-----it's fun. Bought some Federal's #4 buck shot------going to see what they will do. Plan on putting it on the night stand by the bed. CB
  14. I've drawn 3 sheep tags here in Colorado. I killed a nice 7/8 curl back in 98. My wife killed a 3/4 curl back in 2000. I drew last year but had to turn the tag back in because of family problems. I'd say apply in as many states as you can. Plus check out state raffles----I know Colorado has one for a ram & a mountain goat. Cost $25 for a chance. You can check out the DOW for more info. In all honesty your best shot for a ram----is a Dall sheep in AK.
  15. He's a dandy. Conglads, how big were the ivories?
  16. Probably have a better chance of drawing in 2013 if you get a preference point in 2012.
  17. Yes, I did shop. Went to Walmart & stocked up on shotgun shells. $18 for 4 boxes. I got 128 boxes-----lots of clay pigeons in my future. I can't load them for $4.50 a box.
  18. I will cost you an arm & leg to shoot it. Unless you reload. If it was me I'd sell it or trade it. Maybe get a nice handgun, shotgun or a more traditional caliber----ie 06, 270, 308
  19. Wanted to talk about "spine walking" for my English Setter. On July 31st we were cutting winter fire wood. We roll down the logs from the uphill side down to the pickup. Make a long story short the 1st one landed on my 5 month old pup. We did x-rays, CT's----nothing is broken or severed. No ruptured discs etc. Lots of swelling. 2 months later she is back to be a pup. Always hungry, into everything, chews what ever is around. But she still drags her back legs. We have her in PT. We are doing exercises & we walk her on a treadmill for 15 minutes twice a day. We have a trapzee setup with a bungie cord to hold her back end up & I move her rear legs as she walks with her fronts. The PT says he's 100% sure she will walk. Just will take time. Hope Doc could fill me in on "spine walking". Bob
  20. My wall tent is a 12x14x5. My frame is 1" electrical conduit. No side windows in mine. It's from Colorado tent in Denver. Davis, Montana, Colorado Tent----are top of the line. I'll post some photos of my camp---season is 10/15. Bob
  21. Forgot to say that a DIY hunt is the best . I really have self satisfaction knowing I did it on my own. Conglads on picking the unit, studying the maps, scouting, working out the details & then bagging a dandy bull. Hope you really enjoy some the finest wild game meat this winter. Job well done:cowboy: CB
  22. Nice bull. They are big & it's always uphill. Look like you'll keep applying for WY. I like your wall tent----12 x14? CB
  23. See if your existing panel can take 1/2 size or wafer breakers. If so, then you will have to get 2 of those-----that will free up 2 spaces for your 50 amp 2 pole breaker for your new sub-panel. 6/3 Romex is rated at 50 amps & that's what you will breaker it at. I would put in about a 12 or 16 circuit subpanel. I would get a HomeLine from Home Depot. It's a SquareD brand.
