Sorry to hear that Orlan, hope you get to go home too. Prayers sent.
  2. 46 yards and broad side, she was spooky in the wind and whirled as soon as I released. Piled up fast and I was glad too.
  3. I don't think you can influence it that much. They will ultimately grow to the potential of their nutrition. Genetics are key, but there's not going to be a pile of 200" deer roaming the state of Alabama in a few years I don't care how many breeders there are released. Just an opinion.
  4. Haven't been back William, may look for buzzards in a few days.
  5. Almost looks like a joke. Deer get that big because they are raised on a farm, this is not going to work. They are free to release them on my club!
  6. Agreed.... always involve a dead hog in your grillings is my rule.
  7. It's mostly brain waves they pick up on, for about half the cost of that suit, I'll sell you one of these
  8. Cool Chris! Is that sweet potatoes? Do you have a bear tag?
  9. I'm no expert, never have rattled a deer in in my ten or so attempts. But as far as calling I do think less is better. I only call during the rut, I have cold called deer in, grunting and bleating every 30 minutes or so on the stand. There's no magic formula, we've all looked at deer and called to them just to have them pick their heads up to look at you them go back to what they were doing. Same thing happens with deer you can't see. But when everything is right they come in on a string.
  10. PS- it was a muzzy mx3, 400 grains of total weight, 290 or so fps. It can happen with any setup at times, I don't fault my equipment, I should have pulled my shot back a bit.
  11. Very slow start, but got in a tree yesterday for a short hunt on private land. Young 2.5 y/o 8 walls out and I decide it's time to put meat in the freezer. Drew back and calmly took aim. Was disappointed to see partial penetration in the shoulder, maybe 8 inches or so. Deer ran, crashed into an old fence, got up and left again. Blood was extremely sparse and lost him in pine plantation. Really makes me sick. Just glad he wasn't a wall hanger. Going to make another look in daylight this morning then head to my lease for redemption. The meat is spoiled regardless.
  12. Occasionally I use flagging, usually nothing. Flat land and pine plantation can get you lost fast, but generally I keep a trail pretty clean to reduce the noise I make going in and out so it's usually not necessary to use anything.
  13. That looks great. Had some peppadew peppers this weekend at my parents, me and the girls ate the whole jar! Never had them before, bet they'd be good I'm that recipe.

    Morels

Never had one. Very few in our state, or at least they are rumored to be a few in one north corner.
  20. Got a good crop of young ones there. Still slow here.
  21. I don't either usually Dan. I don't have any this year worthy of naming either lol.
  22. Also, you're gonna have to spill the story about that screen name!
