  1. Since I got the SX2 last spring I haven't been happy with the saddle mount and scope combo I had on it. Got to looking at a optics mount for a Smith and Wesson revolver and thought that with a little additional machining that it would be the perfect mount for a shotgun. Here is the end result.... The mount and scope are manufactured by JP enterprises. This setup only adds 3oz to the weight of the gun and sets the dot about 3/4" above the rib. hangunnr

  3. Re: SIG GSR Nope, don't have one. A buddy of mine does have a Sig 1911 but I don't know which specific model it is. He likes it, says it shoots everything he feeds it. I have handled it but not shot it. The overall fit and finish was good. The only thing I could find that I didn't like was the lock up of the barrel. When you consider what these guns cost the fit should have been better IMO. hangunnr
  4. Re: Totally Customized Encore 7mm08 handgun! Gun Garage uses Lauers Duracoat dosen't he? I have two stocks coated with this stuff and you're right it is very tough. I've got a Browning Buckmark that's gonna get coated in the near future. hangunnr
  5. Added a couple good-uns to the stable. The revolver is a S&W model 17-6 .22lr. Always wanted one and just happened across this beauty. The semi is a S&W, M&P .40. Traded my Glock 27 off on this one. I had a chance to run some factory ammo through it last weekend and found it to be a real shooter. We were running steel poppers as fast as we could work the trigger. I've not shot any other poly frame semi that pointed so well for me. I may well shoot production class IPSC matches this summer with this one. hangunnr
  6. Re: Totally Customized Encore 7mm08 handgun! Looks like Georgia Jim and Gun Garage did you well Shawn. The rig looks nice. Now you gotta get out there and try to wear it out. hangunnr

Re: 45? The above mentioned Vaquero or one of the Uberti single action .45 Colts should fill the bill nicely. hangunnr

  15. Re: 338 Federal Gotta think this would also be a decent thumper caliber for the single shot handgun types. The Model 7 platform would also be a good one. hangunnr
  16. Re: Dan Wesson?!?!? OH, YEAH!!!! It is nice that CZ picked up the Wesson line. I hope they can keep the quality level the same. hangunnr

  21. Re: FN\'s Five-seveNĀ® Pistol Buddy of mine has one. It's a hot little round for a handgun. I haven't shot it yet but am hearing the accuracy isn't all that spectacular. But hey, there's 20 rounds in the magazine. hangunnr
  22. Re: Rock Island??? Rock Island produces a top end product. The target grade .45 ACP guns they produce will run with the best of them. hangunnr
  23. Re: My Smith 29 project gun... Can't say at this time how the fiber optic sight is gonna fare, haven't shot it yet. I have had these sights on compensated race guns in the past without any problems. hangunnr
  24. Re: what are the dos and dont with pistols? Ya gotta understand that my 29 ate thousands of full power rounds. I would guess in the neighborhood of 10,000 rounds. The main amount of damage was that the forcing cone was badly eroded. The rifling is still crisp. The barrel was also still very accurate but the blow by coming out the cylinder gap would pepper you with powder residue. I just got tired of getting sand blasted while shooting. With standard loads you likely won't do any harm to a factory barrel. As far as the cost of barrel replacement is concerned. I picked the barrel up off of eBay for about half the cost of a new barrel. The gunsmith I use is a friend so he dosen't charge me anything for labor. hangunnr
