  1. Re: Bluelks Lapping your barrel for a handgun? I've never felt the need to lap a barrel. I'd shoot it first to see if there was a need to try to improve it. hangunnr
  2. Re: SAVAGE STRIKER I'd say you couldn't go wrong with the Burris 2X-7X. They can be had for a little over $300 if you do some shopping. hangunnr
  3. Re: PISTOL HUNTING [ QUOTE ] I was looking at an Ecore 06 caliber,, any tips would greatly appreciated [/ QUOTE ] I think an Encore in '06 is a bit much for a first hunting handgun. You are going to have a very stout kicker there. If I were you I'd start with something with a little less power. A caliber such as .243 Win, 260 Rem or 7-08 would be a better choice IMO. hangunnr
  4. Re: PISTOL HUNTING I wish I'd have kept records as to all the different gun / caliber combinations I've used over the years. I kinda got away from it for awhile but find myself getting wound up about chasing critters with the short guns again. Congrats on the deer and WELCOME to the Realtree forums. hangunnr
  5. Re: SAVAGE STRIKER The choice of scope would be determined by what caliber the gun is, what it's intended purpose is and finally how deep your pockets are. I had a Striker. I never could get the darn thing to shoot very well. I couldn't get much better than 2" 100yd groups. The guy that has it now is thrilled with the accuracy he's getting.......around 2" at 100yds..... hangunnr
  6. Re: T/C Encore 20ga. rifled slug barrels I've got a blue 20ga barrel and it's a good shooter. I suppose you could get a blue barrel hard chromed to match a stainless receiver. hangunnr
  7. Re: T/C Encore 20ga. rifled slug barrels I don't believe they make a stainless slug barrel. Unless this is a new option for '06. hangunnr
  8. Re: What do you say. I think you'll find that most red dot scopes are too short to get more than 2 rings onto them. If you can fit more than 2 go for it. hangunnr
  9. Re: Muzzle Tamers anyone??? [ QUOTE ] otherwise I would be using my fingers [/ QUOTE ] Now I want to see you shoot your pistol with your fingers in your ears...... LOL hangunnr
  10. Re: Encore ML pistol scores..... [ QUOTE ] What's the white stuff on the tailgate? [/ QUOTE ] White stuff on the tailgate was used to cover up all the red stuff on the tailgate..... hangunnr
  11. There's a auction going on over on eBay for the scope you want for your Encore project. The buy it now price is only $300. That's a couple bucks off a new one.. 3X-12X Burris pistol scope on eBay If this scope was a matte finish I'd be on it like white on rice... hangunnr
  12. Re: Encore ML pistol scores..... I guess I should have elaborated..... The load was 60gr 3F T7 under a Harvester ribbed for her pleasure sabot stuffed with a 240gr Hornady XTP. The distance was about 40yds. I was sitting in my climber when 6 does came through and stopped. I picked the nearest one, leveled the sights and let rip. She piled up about 50yds later. I didn't see her go down due to all the smoke and white flags running away. The blood trail was good enough that Stevie Wonder could have found her....... hangunnr
  13. Re: Remington 700ML 45 caliber - loads??? I also shoot a Remmy ML and love it. I am wanting a .45 cal. Is there a chance your shop has another? If they do, get back to me and I'll forward a money order asap. hangunnr
  14. Scored on a nice fat Indiana doe saturday afternoon. hangunnr
  15. Re: Post your entry pics here. Here in good ole Indiana our muzzleloader season opened this weekend. My season ended at 4:00 pm saturday............ Had 6 does come in and stop at 40yds. Leveled the sights on the nearest one and let her rip. Nice 2.5yr old that weighed in at 106# hangunnr
  16. Re: What your ammo manufacturer of choice? I mainly use hangunnr brand ammo. hangunnr
  17. Re: Burris 2-7x32 or 3-12x32???? Just picked up a Burris 2-7X w/ballistic plex today. Seems like a winner. Either will do fine. You just have to decide. It isn't likely you'll ever use much magnification over 5 while actually hunting. It is nice however to have the extra when bench shooting. I'll eventually have a 3-12 on my .223 XP100 when it gets completed. hangunnr
  18. Re: 460 I've had one for a little while now. I believe this gun is gonna be quite a shooter. Just got it outfitted with optics. I put a Warne steel base with quick detatch rings and a Burris 2X-7X Ballistic Plex scope on top of her. No drooling now WNY....... hangunnr
  19. Re: The North American #1 Guns Well Mossy the game plan is.... ...for you to shoot a 20 pointer!!! It's all on you now...... I've still got the chance at a urban buck so there is a small chance of an upgrade of my entry. hangunnr
  20. Re: T/C trigger work? I've seen guns come from the factory with nice clean 3-4lb triggers and some with horrible 5-6lb'ers I don't believe they strive for any particular setting. I pulled mine apart and did nothing more than clean up any rough machined surfaces. I didn't adjust the pull weight at all. If I were you and not inclined to want to do my own work I'd send it off to Mike and let him do his thing. Give him a call or send him an email, I'm sure he'd be more than happy to help you. hangunnr
  21. Re: T/C trigger work? Unless you're intimately familiar with the way a trigger works it's best to leave adjustments to a pro. Mike Bellm has some instructions available on his site. I'm finding that the older I get the more I like a heavier trigger pull. I still want the trigger to break very clean but do like to be able to be more agressive without fear of accidently sending a round down range. If you are intending to use your T/C for hunting I wouldn't think you'd want much less than 3lbs. hangunnr
  22. Re: New Bullets for 2006 I gotta think that if they're as pricey as the rest of the Barnes line, that sales won't be all that brisk. They sure are proud of their bullets...... hangunnr
  23. Re: T/C Encore ML barrel? "My baby" post from last year...... Has the oldtimers got ya already VT? You were part of the above thread..... I really like shooting my Encore ML pistol barrel. It's wicked accurate. I plan on hitting the woods with it this coming weekend in hopes of filling my muzzle loader tag. hangunnr
  24. Re: The North American #1 Guns Not exactly what I was looking for this season but after dealing with all the idiots and trespassers I'm happy to have these deer. This will give the team another 7 points.... Pretty funky little rack.....never seen one like it before.. hangunnr
