  1. Re: Ruger Gp100 .357 [ QUOTE ] Depends almost entirely on the person doing the shooting and the other 1000 variables such as ammunition, barrel length, etc. HB [/ QUOTE ] That pretty well sums it up... I'd say 95% of the guns out there will out shoot the ability of their owners. Will the Ruger be accurate at 200yds, I'd say yes with the right guy behind the grip and the proper ammo in the cylinder. hangunnr
  2. Re: 200 yard scope ??????? Jim, If I were you I'd go with a Burris 2X-7X. If you want to pick a day when we can meet half way I'll let you give mine a once over to give you an idea of what you're getting into. Gonna go with one of the PC guns eh..... I may yet end up with one of the 10.5" barreled PC guns...... hangunnr
  3. Re: 9mm question The Blue book lists them for anywhere from $180 in 60% condition up to $350 in 100% condition. $100 sounds like a good price if you like the gun. They're not currently imported by anyone so finding parts in the future may be a iffy situation. hangunnr
  4. Re: Snubbie 38 How about a little more info. Do you know the model number? Is the gun blue or stainless. What's the over all condition? hangunnr
  5. Re: ***It a baby GIRL******* Glad to hear it Al. I was wondering how soon you'd be a daddy again. Give my best to momma. hangunnr
  6. Re: Moderators Aw, go ahead and party...... ........my ban button has a gotten a little rusty, it could use a little workout......... hangunnr
  7. Re: Post your entry pics here. If there is anyone holding out on us and not posting they're picture the deadline is creeping up on us. You'll have until midnight on the 31st (saturday) to get them posted. I'll put up a poll with the sucessful hunters listed for you guys or girls to vote on. hangunnr
  8. Re: 200 yard scope ??????? I don't personally feel having a scope with an adjustable objective lens to be any benefit on a hunting gun. Not enough to justify any extra cost anyway. With the ranges you'll be shooting and size of the animals you'll be shooting at there won't be enough optical error (assumnig a good quality scope) to cause a miss. With that said....... If you keep a keen eye on sites like eBay you can still find used scopes with the adjustable objectives. I just recently picked up a minty 3X for a decent price. I installed a Burris 2X-7X with the Ballistic Plex reticle on my 460. This reticle has hash marks for different elevations. With some proper range work you will be able to know the exact zero of the hash marks with the load you're using. This will allow a much more precise sighting on a target over the guesstimation method. Using the chart above you see they are showing the hash marks as the amount of hold over needed for the bullet to impact where you want it. They aren't showing that you have to know the bullet weight and velocity to be able to use the marks. They do supply you with an assortment of charts when you buy a new scope. If you use factory ammo or your reloaded ammo is represented by one of the generic charts you should be close on the accuracy of the chart. I'll have to spend some time at the range after I find a suitable load to be able to know where my bullet will impact using the hash marks. hangunnr
  9. Re: My wife got me an awesome Chrismas present!!! That's a pretty nice set up you have there. You ought to see years of good service out of it. hangunnr
  10. Re: Colt python price ? It's hard to tell what a collector would be willing to pay for an unfired Python. I've seen 95% used guns sold for $750-$850 around here. hangunnr
  11. Re: hottest 22 lr load ? Cabela's has them in stock. hangunnr
  12. Re: hottest 22 lr load ? Unless I'm mistaken the Super Maximum 22lr loaded by Aguila is the hottest currently on the market. This load throws a 30gr hollow point out the muzzle at 1750fps. I've run these over the sky screens of my chrono and get 1730fps out of a 6" Smith revolver. You should see a little higher velocity out of a rifle length barrel. hangunnr
  13. Re: Bought a new plinker..... $95 across the counter, taxes included. hangunnr
  14. Re: Santa came: new ruger Man, I need a Santa like that in my life..... hangunnr
  15. Re: Bought a new plinker..... Here's the Walther with the laser aiming device. Should be fun to play with. hangunnr
  16. Re: New Toy Have ya shot it yet? hangunnr
  17. Re: Remington 700 I just bought a 45 cal to go along with my 50 cal Remington. I haven't found any other ML that fits me as good as the Remington does. I use musket caps on the 50 cal and while there is some blowback I don't find it intolerable. I plan on working with the 209-4 primers in the 45 cal. I do believe Remington has discontinued the 700ML series of guns. I've heard rumors that they have a new gun in the works. hangunnr
  18. Re: SW 1911 Sorry, I missed this post..... The Smith 1911's are nice guns. I believe they are the same slide and frame as the Kimbers. They seem to be pretty well finished and the fit is OK. I've not shot one but would expect them to be decent shooters. hangunnr
  19. Re: New Toy A Texan with a Colt single action.....that's kinda like peanut butter and jelly.......they just go together. Nice looking rig you have there Jeff. hangunnr
  20. Re: Bought a new plinker..... I was checking out one of the local shops today and came across a Walther laser sight designed for the P22. I of course couldn't resist and ordered one. I'll post some pics when it comes in. hangunnr
  21. Re: Bought a new plinker..... Yep, had one for a couple years now. Nice little pistol. My model is a German made Walther not one of the Smith & Wesson guns. Which model did you get? I see they're offering replacement barrels in 17Mach 2 now. May have to get one of those. hangunnr
  22. [ QUOTE ] I was thinking about a holographic sight, either night osprey, or an atn ultra sight. I want a low profile, with a large field of view. Also will these type of sights hold up to the recoil? thanks guys [/ QUOTE ] I have no experience with the sight you mentioned, sorry. I do have experience with the Bushnell Holo sight and didn't care for it on a hunting gun. I found that the reticle wasn't near bright enough for sunny days and you could forget it if there was snow present. If I use a red dot type sight I use a Aimpoint Comp with a 3 minute dot or a 7 minute dot on my turkey gun. It's been my experience that you get what you pay for with electronic sights. I've destroyed several low end scopes coming to that conclusion. If I were in the market for a new red dot sight I'd look at the Burris, Leupold or Aimpoint offerings. hangunnr
  23. Re: Post your entry pics here. I'll post your pics for you. They unfortunately aren't eligible for this years contest but I'm sure everyone will enjoy them nonetheless. Email is on the way. hangunnr
  24. Re: need a barrel for a ruger 10/22 I've got a spare barrel. Check your PM's. hangunnr
  25. Re: Bluelks Lapping your barrel for a handgun? I absolutely would not lap that barrel. They produce a quality product. You may end up doing more harm than good. hangunnr
