  1. Re: Which sights for hunting? Millet makes aftermarket sights for your Ruger. Brownells sells them. I have Millet rear sights on a couple of my S&W wheel guns. They are a nice sight. hangunnr
  2. Got my model 29 back today. She turned out fantastic. This gun started out twenty years ago as a 8-3/8" Model 29 .44mag. After many thousands of rounds the barrel was all but shot out with the forcing cone badly eroded. I picked up a stainless 6.5" factory ported barrel off eBay, a beautiful set of Kim Ahrends grips, a Millet rear sight and a SDM fiber optic front sight. I had the barrel set back one turn, the face of the cylinder cleaned up and the sharp edges rounded off. The action was also cleaned up and new springs added. I had the top strap drilled and tapped for the three hole scope mount system used on modern S&W wheel guns. The whole gun was then bead blasted and finally hard chromed. The Millet / SDM sights are the best thing going for iron sights. My smith sent the body of the Millet in for the hard chrome finish also. I think it's a nice touch. The 'ole 29 has been reborn. I can't wait to get her out and get some rounds down range. hangunnr
  3. Re: Better hurry guys..... Only 2.5 hours left, get those bids in........ I know Strut 10 is gonna try and snipe this one..... hangunnr
  4. ....the bidders have to lining up to snap up this beauty..... Bling Bling... What would posses a man to do something like this??? hangunnr
  5. Re: Whos going to Indoor Nationals Don't know if I'm going to Louisville or Pittsburg this year. Most likely Pittsburg. hangunnr
  6. ....aint that far off. Been hovering in the mid fiftys for a month now but have the feeling the clean game is just around the corner. This is a 300-54X. 3 of the missed Xs were after a adjustment to my release. Went clean after that. Been working on my stance and finally have one that'll work I think. hangunnr
  7. Re: Choke for WIN SX2 [ QUOTE ] I use a Comp-N-Choke XXX-full and 3 1/2" Winchester Supreme #6's. [/ QUOTE ] Oddly enough, that's the exact same combo I'm using...... hangunnr
  8. Re: Butt Direction That's what I consider a side carry. hangunnr
  9. Re: Butt Direction Butt of the pistol to the rear if the pistol is at my side. Butt of the pistol toward my strongside if carrring the gun in the small of my back. If using one holster it will have to be able to be converted from a left hand to a right hand to allow both types of carry. I typically use two different holsters. hangunnr
  10. Re: Pursuit Pro problems When did you get it back? hangunnr
  11. Re: Is this true??? If I ever owned a gun that wouldn't group with a clean barrel I'd sell it ASAP. Of the 4 I currently own all of them shoot just fine with a clean barrel. hangunnr
  12. Re: New Jimmy Houston Camo!!! [ QUOTE ] I dont even know if busch is a republican or democrat im only 16 [/ QUOTE ] Busch is neither democrat or republican.......it's a beer. hangunnr

  14. Re: buying our shop teacher a gun ! [ QUOTE ] I know your hearts are in the right place, and I'm sure he will appreciate the gift. I suggest you just get him a gift certificate from a reliable gun dealer. With the laws the way they are nowadays you all would be better off. You couldn't buy it, you couldn't bring it to school, even as a gift. You can't buy a gun for another person.etc. I'd hate to see all you good students get in any trouble at school with the "no tolerance policies". ($950.-$1100,) ....popgun [/ QUOTE ] Exact same thought.... hangunnr
  15. You could use either. Reduce your charge weight by 20% if going with the 3F. hangunnr
  16. Re: World Archery Festival Vegas 1st day Results #33 Brian Lovley is the top shooter in my club. This kid is a rock solid shooter. I'm a little surprised his X count was so low. He's been pounding out 28-30X Vegas rounds on a regular basis. Guess the pressure of the big show got to working on him a little. hangunnr
  17. Re: My new baby! (pic) Nice lookin rig. I have a M77 V in .308 that looks exactly like that. You might want to look into a Timney trigger to replace the stock Ruger parts. Once I replaced my trigger in mine the gun was much more fun to shoot. hangunnr
  18. Re: TC Encore Pistol? I'll tell ya, if you have thoughts of wanting to shoot the Encore in a pistol format go ahead and buy the frame as a handgun. You then can put a rifle or ML barrel on it without any problem. If you purchase the Encore in long gun form it would then be illegal to convert it to a handgun. I know it might be a little more expensive buying the components seperately but it would be much more versatile that way. hangunnr

  21. Re: Recommendations for a deer & hog hunting handgun? I would not consider the 40S&W suitable for deer at any range. The 7-08 however is a excellent suggestion. hangunnr
  22. Re: S&W 410s .40 s&w Brownells carries Millet brand sights that should provide what you need. As far as the magazines....... I can't off hand help you with that. I'd suggest spending some time checking out eBay. hangunnr
  23. Re: Factory Sights on a SA XD The Richard Heinie sights will be the sleekest of the sights they offer. For a carry gun they are to be considered some of the best. hangunnr
  24. Re: TC Encore Pistol? GMM has it nailed...... If one thing is for sure, he's done his homework on this topic..... hangunnr
  25. Re: 460 xvr $$$$$$$ I agree that the hoop-la has died down and the prices have pretty much leveled off. I'd bet it won't be long till you see used guns showing up in the $800 range. I don't expect you'll see as many 460s being traded off as there are 500s though. The ability of the 460 to shoot cheaper standard commercialy manufactured ammo will keep them off the shelves. The more I see of the Performance Center guns the less they appeal to me. It used to be that the PC guns were relatively rare and hard to come by. Seems everybody has them nowadays. Unless you have to have the specially shaped barrels the PC guns offer I'd say get ahold of a standard barrel gun and get to blazing. Jim, talk to you soon. hangunnr
