  1. Re: Barnes MZ Expanders article.... [ QUOTE ] Lots of info but be careful about taking it all as fact. [/ QUOTE ] Exactly..... hangunnr
  2. Re: I bought a SWEET .22! [ QUOTE ] About how much do they run and where can I pic one up? [/ QUOTE ] eBay always have some listed... hangunnr
  3. Re: my new xd-40 sub compact(pics) That is a can't pass it up price. Glad you're happy with it. hangunnr
  4. Re: \"06 project gun..... [ QUOTE ] How do you like the AI stock? They do look pretty nice. [/ QUOTE ] I like their stocks. It will require a little bedding compound to make it a perfect fit. They come with the full length bedding block and pillars installed. I got this one off eBay straight from AI for less than half of retail. There is a slight imperfection in the barrel channel that's gonna disappear when it gets opened up for the fat barrel. The checkering is laser cut which results in flat top diamonds. I will likely have this gone over by hand to sharpen them up. All in all they are a very nice stock. [ QUOTE ] Man that handgun .308 must jump quite a bit eh? [/ QUOTE ] Naw, the .308 in a heavy barrel handgun is quite the pussycat.... hangunnr
  5. Re: Is this true??? I don't hunt with a fouled barrel, never have never will. I sight in my guns to be dead on with a clean barrel. hangunnr
  6. With the addition of a couple sets of Leupold QD rings and a QD base I'll have all the parts together for one of my project guns. This gun is gonna be a Remmy XP100R / Model 7 switch stock. I plan on having the heavy .308 barrel cut down to 18" and then fitting it to both the McMillan handgun stock and the Accurate Innovations rifle stock. I'll have a long eye relief scope sighted for use as a handgun and a rifle scope sighted for use as a long gun. The use of the leupold QD mount system should make this a piece of cake to accomplish. I would like to have the barrel chambered for 300WSM but that would require having the bolt modified and that dosen't look like it's in the budget at this time. I think I'll just leave it a 308Win for the time being. This should be a fun gun to play with. hangunnr
  7. I have a Leupold QD mount on one of my Remington ML. It's a pretty nice way to go. The rings lock in very well. I've experienced no change in point of impact after removing then reinstalling the scope. hangunnr
  8. Re: Hey GrnMtnMan and inline owners The primers push through the red tip. hangunnr
  9. Re: Loose Powder ????s for Handgunnr. I use 3F T7 in my ML pistol. I use 60gr by volume. I have not tried the Black Mag powder yet. I do intend to burn some of the American Pioneer 3F on my next outing. hangunnr
  10. Re: How Much is my gun worth? If'n it's a .357mag then it's a model 686. Swing the cylinder out and you'll find the model number stamped on the frame . Used price around here will go ~$350. hangunnr
  11. Shawn, You asked about a priming tool for your newly aquired Encore ML. I was in my local shop today and was given a new tool from T/C that looks to be the best yet. This thing holds 8 or 9 primers and works like a syringe. It works very well. You may want to give one a shot. They'll likely retail for $8-$10. hangunnr
  12. Re: Springfield XD9 I would guess the price to be somewhere near $600. Kimber hasn't announced a delivery timeframe. hangunnr
  13. Re: Springfield XD9 Harvdog, If you can wait awhile Kimber is in the pre production stages of producing a poly frame semi-auto. The pics I've seen look very nice. I will likely trade off my Glock for one of these when they hit the market. hangunnr
  14. Re: New Encore pistol pics... That looks good Shawn. I can't wait to hear your range report after your first session out at 250 and beyond....... hangunnr
  15. Re: 500 S&W? [ QUOTE ] So you think a 460 would be better? [/ QUOTE ] I agree that the 460 would be a better choice. There are far more choices in bullet type available in 45 cal than 50 cal. With a Partition or A frame style bullet you will be able to produce a load that'll shoot end to end through any critter here in North America. Some of the super hard cast bullets are great performers too. hangunnr
  16. Re: Brass Pricing Questions Cheyenne Brass lists some common cases for sale. The prices don't look too bad to me. hangunnr
  17. Re: taurus 44 mag The Taurus guns of late are pretty decent. For the casual shooter they will last a lifetime. hangunnr
  18. Re: Here are the entries... Here's your winner with a grand total of 3 votes.......... Congrats wyote!! Send me your mailing addy in a PM and I'll get the hat off to you. hangunnr
  19. Re: Here are the entries... 33 minutes till the polls close...... I'm not feeling any love here..... hangunnr
  20. Re: Range of a .243? With a varmint type bullet I wouldn't hesitate to bust a ground hog or yote out to 500yds. With the right bullet and shooter this caliber can be accurate out beyond 1000yds. hangunnr
  21. Re: Custom or Semi Custom Guns I'm awaiting the return of a Smith 29 that has been rebarreled, dehorned and hardchromed. I've also got 3 XP100 projects in various states of completion. One is gonna be a 221 fireball rechamered to .223Rem. The second is gonna be a mid grip 300WSM with a 18" heavy barrel and the last is gonna be a repeater in 6.5X284 with a 18" barrel. Who knows what else might pop up..... hangunnr
  22. Re: Anybody have experience with the remington xp 100 [ QUOTE ] i was kind of thinking 6mm, but im open to suggestions. [/ QUOTE ] I'm not 100% sure but I don't think Remington ever produced a 6mm/243 XP. If that's what you have your heart set on you'll have to go the custom route. Like I said in my earlier post a 260Rem rear grip or a 7BR mid grip would get you close. Both would be good choices for antelope out to ~300yds with the right load. The 7BR could be rechambered to 7-08 for a little more thump. If your pockets are a little deeper H.S. Precision makes a stellar long range hunting pistol. They will chamber it to your specs. The HS guns are very similar to the XPs. hangunnr
  23. Re: 2006 Competition scores Started our indoor leagues last week. I'm shooting with two different clubs this year. Week one I shot 300-57X and 300-48X. The first night was smooth as silk when everything went as it should have. The next night I was rushed to get to the range and didn't get much warm up time. I struggled for every shot. Shot last night for a 300-52X. Not a bad night but there is still alot of room for improvement. hangunnr
  24. Re: Anybody have experience with the remington xp 100 IMO the best factory chambering Remington ever did in the XP was the 260 Rem. If you can find a XP in this chambering I'd say snap it up. If you find one and don't want it let me know because I'd like another. You may be able to find a mid grip XP chambered in 7mmBR. This would make a fine cartridge for antelope and varmint alike. The accuracy of any gun is heavily tied to the ability of the shooter so it's most difficult to assign any gun as being accurate. Most guns can be made to shoot well. The Weatherby CFP is a nice gun with some "custom" features already built in. It may seem expensive but when you start modifying an old gun you'll end up spending as much. They can be had in .243 and 7-08. The Savage Striker series of guns are highly regarded. Savage has recently dropped them from production so the supplies of them are drying up fast. What caliber were you wanting? hangunnr
  25. Re: TRIGGER SHOE AND T-GRIPS "SHOTGUNS & RIFFLES "........ from their homepage..... Maybe if they sell enough they can afford a spellcheck..... I've used trigger shoes on my match pistols for years. They can give a much better feel when breaking a shot. Be careful though as they will leave permanant marks on aluminum triggers. hangunnr
