Re: Looks Like Archery Is On The Menu!
LOL! That really had to hurt! Being a woman does have it's cons.....Let us know what bow you pick out! I was out after squirrels with mine today, some squirrels but couldn't get a shot off...Still need to get my 20 and 30 yard pin set for the field tips (shooting higher than broadheads) but I'm not planning on shooting squirrels that far...
Re: whats everyones plans tonight?
Hey Nut- that's a really good movie:) Happy anniversary HuntnMa! Well my family we'll be home like we usually do, watch a movie or tv if anything good is on, and try to munch our way to midnight, lol. I just don't know if I'll make it or not since I got woken up at quarter to 7 this morning by the dog we are watching for friends, so I was walking a dog in the dark before 7am...not exactly my plan for sleeping in:)
Re: Is this...normal?
Thanks for the pics Tony! I'll have a look at mine. So do you put the oil in from the back side or the front side of the limb pocket?
Re: What is the difference
When I was looking for a new bow and talked to a guy at Gander Mountain, I did find out different cams have a different feel at least. He said the rounder a cam or wheel, it's smoother to pull back where as the more oblong/egg shaped a cam gets, it's a little less smooth. I think it's true because I tried a bow there with rounder cams, one with not so round cams and there was a difference. My Hoyt has Cam & 1/2 and I love my bow so it all depends on what the shooter likes I think...
Re: Aggravating
Hang in there Andrea! I hope you have some luck! During our shotgun season I was frustrated because especially after the first week, only way to see deer was to push them. Darn neighbors get them so scared after the first day that the deer go nocturnal something horrible and I never got my shotgun buck. Good luck!
Re: Missed it by one day
Yeah I saw up near the Adirondacks you guys were getting it good but here in western NY, we have nothing! Sunny this morning but how long that will last only God knows....
Re: Ding Dong
Yeah, I was wondering about the possibility of fights and stuff that could break out also as Art said...it's getting/has been crazy over there and likely to get worse....all we can do is pray
Re: Most memorable post of 2006
Wow, great post Art and good memory, lol, I feel so special:)
There are two posts that I can remember:
1 - Dakota's Elk Hunt - great suspense to read updates on his hunt and then it was awesome that he scored on an Elk - way to go Dakota.
2 - Scott's Halloween Costumes - way too fun, lmbo
Re: Darn crummy weather!
Well I did manage to go out and shoot my bow for about 10 minutes before it started getting dark and I needed to do barn chores. Shot pretty good - field points were hitting dead center but about 1.5-2 inches high so I'll have to move the pins a little tomorrow if I get a chance, before I go after squirrels. Now they are saying tomorrow's weather won't be too great...
Re: Bear or reflex
I was looking at Reflex before I went with a Hoyt Rintec XL - mainly because it was built more for smaller frames like women and older youth. Reflex is a good bow but like arrow said, try them all!
Re: Bowhunting squirrels?
I saw Cabela's sells some small metal things to place behind the field point for causing better shock and preventing lost arrows....they have 4 edges to them....
Re: Christmas Eve Tom Pics Bowkill
Wow, congrats! That's nice it's still turkey season in Ill. All I've got are squirrels/grouse/rabbit till May turkey season....maybe THIS spring I'll get a turkey...
Re: Ding Dong
Well I'm glad it's over with because I was tired of hearing it on the news but what about what it says in the Bible "Thou shalt not kill".... Actually my mom said it when they announced he'd been hung last night. I mean maybe he did deserve it because of what he's done but the Bible is the ultimate word....Guess Iraq has a different take on things...when I heard they do hanging, I was like holy smokes, that's still allowed....?
Re: Ok, this is funny but not really....
Yeah, it's interesting to note that on America's Funniest videos, they have tons of videos of guys getting hurt, and well....if you've seen one, you've seen em' all, lol.
Well it was suppose to be, according to the weather people, in the 40s and sunny. NOPE! I went to help Andy with a survey he was doing for our neighbor who has a small trailer he is fixing to rent. We get there and it starts to snowand hail and is freaking windy and cold. Of course the land is on top of a hill next to a busy main road and this area is known for the accidents on it during bad weather because it's high up. I freeze my butt off, we get home and it is crummy even here! My plans to shoot my bow then go sit in a stand and bowhunt squirrels is out the window. I might still go shoot my bow for a short time and see how the mini S coil stabilizer works but I won't be hunting. Gosh darn weather! Oh well...guess I'll end up cleaning my room, lol
Re: The Greatest Sport in the world!!!
After this season with my new Hoyt, I love bowhunting even more! It's a dream some day to be able to afford to go out of state somewhere and bowhunt a big old buck. But I love all aspects of hunting, whether with my gun or bow. It's just being outdoors in God's woods that makes the hunt really:) I'd love turkey hunting if I could get one again, lol.
Re: Shot the Vectrix and the Vulcan....
Good luck...glad you've found something you like. Doesn't matter if everyone else shoots Matthews or Hoyts...it's what you like best:)
Re: help with shooting the bow.
Practice...practice...and more practice....Find someone to shoot with you and help tune your bow... The farthest pin on my bow is set at 30 yards but the farthest shot I've ever made was 20 as most deer I've gotten come in to around 10 yards most times because I wait. I did have a 30 yard shot this year at a doe, took the shot and it was good except for a couple branches in the way I didn't see.
Re: Cleaning up
We usually take down the tree and put all the stuff away on New Year's Day. And being that the tree was lightly decorated this year, it shouldn't be too much of a chore. I'm using this afternoon for squirrel hunting anyhow:)
