  1. Re: Work is Done! Wow, huge buck! Congrats! It's neat you have his photos also. Were the sheds near where your camera was set-up?
  2. Re: Seeing anything rackless in NY Wow, B2H! I wonder if the deer up there shed before the ones do down in the southern tier here... Sounds like some big sheds!
  3. Re: Everyone Welcome my father.... Welcome to Realtree Camp RAGS!! Hope you'll stick around!
  4. Aaah...doesn't it make you feel great when you click that place order button on the Cabela's website? Dogdoc was kind enough to givem e is codes to get $20 off a $100 order so I order a fly tying kit, some fly tying materials (feathers, dubbing), fly floatant, 100 grain field points, bow string seperator, silicone peep sight tubing, Accusharp sharpener for Andy for his birthday, I mist be forgetting something. Only thing I was mad about was I wanted to get a tool for tying knots for fly fishing and they had a minimum order of 2 on it! I only need one and at $10 a piece, I'm not getting two. So I'll wait and get one at Gander Mountain or find one elsewhere. so they said the delivery date is next Tuesday but Cabela's orders usually get here early so I'll wait and see
  5. Re: ???????????????????? Don't worry, we always do. Andrea and I are keeping things in control....aren't we Andrea? LOL
  6. Re: HOYT Bows...where to buy? You can buy used or even sometimes new Hoyt bows online like Ebay and the classifieds on archerytalk.com but you won't have the lifetime warranty with them which is why you are better off buying a Hoyt bow from a Hoyt dealer - only way to have the warranty.

    Wow...ICEY!!

Anybody else wake up to everything covered in ice this morning? I am at work right now at the college, and I can here them starting up the chainsaw to cut up a big pine tree branch that came down outside the dorm, from the ice. I's say when I went to start the car this morning, there was almost 1/4" of ice all over it and driving over to pick up a girl who is still working from x-mas break...well there were low branches and branches broken all over. Definitely an ice storm...pretty...but dangerous. So be safe out there people! suppose to turn to snow later..ugh
  8. Re: disturbing [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Based on the description, I would guess that he may have been gouged by a metal fence post while jumping. Usually a gunshot will cause more trauma. And, what the heck is a Texas heart shot? [/ QUOTE ] it had to be soemthing that entered the rear of the deer and exited out the front.....its intestines were hanging out of its chest [/ QUOTE ] I agree...as the intestines are far back, not near the chest unless something pulls them up there. How horrible for the deer though....
  9. Re: Starting fly tying.... Any good books out there on tying flies?
  10. Re: Peep sights?? Yeah, I think I'm going to stick with tubing for now and just get a newer peep with tubing. I heard that unless you have a good set of strings, the no tubing peeps will be pain when aligning them because factory strings aren't as good...
  11. Re: New Mathews Bow Co. Wow, that's cool. Hadn't heard of a new branch out of Matthews until now...Guess I'll look at their website for fun,lol
  12. Re: Ross Bow: NEW Release. Cardiac Wow, that is a sweet bow! I still like my Hoyt, lol. I can't imagine in like another 5 years or so, when I start thinking about a new bow again, what bows will be out then.....
  13. I was looking at one the knot tying tools in Cabela's - wondering which one any of you might recommend? Or what are the basic knots I will need to know or have a tool that helps tie them? I've done the slinch knot and improved clinch knot by hand for tying my flies on, and the nail knot for tying my line backing onto the fly line (pain in the butt to do by hand, lol). Ok, so let me know your thoughts; thanks!
  14. Re: Squirrel Contest Teams/Standings Nice grays 91! Yeah, my partner seems to have disappeared - need to pm him maybe....I want to get out and try and get some more greys. I have 7 on the season so I'll meet the contest limit, but a few bigger ones would help, lol
  15. Re: My Wife\'s Buck Wow, that's an awesome buck! Congrats to her!
  16. Re: Peep sights?? Hmmm..Well I just have the factory string on mine and it will stay that way until I need to replace the string....are factory strings "lesser quality"? Oh, I checked my peep on theb ow last night and it measures 1/4" so I'm assuming stick with that size. Another thing, is it possible to put a peep in myself or I should I just take the bow to the shop where I'll have them put a string loop on, andh ave them put the peep on to?
  17. Re: Peep sights?? [ QUOTE ] I have a G5 Meta Peep that I got for Christmas. I tried it on my old bow and I really like it. It is quieter than my peep with tubing. I also like the blue color. The color helps me focus quicker through the peep down to my sight. Combined with my string loop on my bow I never have to really worry about the whole issue of "what if the string twists or stretches and throws my peep out of adjustment" which seems to be the only draw back to no-tubing peeps that I ever hear about. [/ QUOTE ] What size G5 did you get?
  18. Re: New for the contest this year... [ QUOTE ] I say, ONLY put the names of the people who bag a bird should be put in the random drawing.... Keeps the people who don't hunt turkeys from joining in hopes of just getting lucky for a prize......and not hunting at all..... [/ QUOTE ] Only problem with that is people like me who hunt our butts off, are active members, and don't get a shot at a turkey......which hopefully will change this spring.
  19. Re: Not what you like to see. Wow, what a shame! Yeah, looks like they took the rack, took a hidnquarter and left the rest.....sad sad sad
  20. Re: 2007 Iron Mace. High Country Bows Wow, that is fast! I saw some HCA bows somewhere, I think maybe Gander Mountain..
  21. Re: Live Chat! Ok, I'll see if I can come in
  22. What does everyone have for a peep sight, if you have one, on your bow? I'm thinking about switching from the peep sight I have now which is one of the plastic, hooded ones with rubber tubing, to something like the Super Deuce, Fletcher Tru-Peep, or G5 Meta. What do you all recommend/ suggest? The sight I have on now looks something like this: http://www.keystonecountrystore.com/Arch.../PEP187402.html How much of a difference will it be switching from that to a sight like the ones I mentioned above? Or should I stick with the peep w/tubing? I just keep hearing that tubing causes noise and reduce speed.
  23. Re: When to start scouting... Ok, so probably April I'll start scouting since season starts May 1. And I'll hopefully have a friend to take along:) She has her license, wants to go turkey hunting. she's moving down to PA middle of May so I'm hoping I can help her get a turkey (and me to,lol) So how do you know where to look though ,especially on new land? Ridges? Fields? Different slopes?
  24. Re: Singing Group on the rise. Nice to hear of a new group coming out, especially Christian:)
  25. Re: 30 pt. GA Buck [ QUOTE ] it really bothers me how pictures float their way around the internet with different stories with them. no offense to you vagobbln but i get these emails all the time. the worst part is my uncles and grandfather (hunting partners) beleive everything that comes in an email. [/ QUOTE ] Ditto! I was going to say the same thing. It's annoying how one picture can have so many different stories....don't know why the true story can stick with it. Nice buck anyway!
