Re: MOSNTER DOWN!! Beat Ya SaskMAN! LOL @ Ryan! You had me at first till I thought "Hey, wasn't I talking to him on November 3 on IM"?

Ok guys. I'm gonna get home from college early today and definitely go hunting. The rut is on, it is really cold so I think it will be a great night of hunting. The bad thing is rain is suppose to move in and I'm worried about having a deer come in for a great shot, making the shot and having it raining at the same time. I wouldn't want to immediately track the deer and risk pushing it but I wouldn't want to lose the blood trail either if I was to shoot a deer while it is raining. What do you guys think/suggest? I guess I'm hesitant since losing that deer on Sunday. Thanks everyone and good luck to you all!

Re: 2004-05 R.T. Forum Deer Contest - Teams & Scores Not sure if I'm missing it or maybe it is because we don't have points? I dunno but I don't see Team Buck Sweat in the list...? -
Re: Do you butcher your own deer? We have always butchered our own deer. I have heard though hat at processing places, sometimes you may not get your deer back; you get someone elses'. Either way I like butchering our own deer, it is fun and you get to learn some anatomy. Butchering is a family affair for us

Re: I have 2 options, what should I do? If it was me, I might choose going to the buddies place, sounds like a ton of fun! But then I hunt alone all the time and wish I had someone to hunt with

Ok, so I was walking out of the phys ed building where my backpacking class was, we have a trip this weekend, and one of the trainers saw me and is like "Ruth where were you last Friday?" I'm like "What?" and I told her about this whole mix-up with the time mom was suppose to pick me up. Well in fact it turns out I was suppose to come in Friday to see if the trainers had work for me, DUH! I was like "I thought it was just Wednesday?" And the trainer says "Yeah Wednesday and then come in Fridays to check with us." She was nice about it but I felt so dumb. Also I picked up this application for a summer job working in the outdoors with one of the college's programs and I feel dumb because have the skills on there I don't have because I haven't learned them yet, argh. Anyway there are some of my moments.

Re: Man I hate homework...... I know how you feel, I have been in the library all day and still have a few moreh ours to go till my game. I'm tired of staring at the computer doing homework. Umm well for a biography, you should have a bibliography(author, book title, publisher, date published, pages,etc...) then if you are like citing a quote, I think you cite at the end of the quote or put numbers by the quote and at the bottom of the page, have your bibliography with the corresponding number. Not sure if I remembered right but good luck and check online if you can.

Re: HAPPY BIRTHDAY BUCKNRUT Happy birthday a day later! Congrats on the deer also!

On Saturday I went to my first music concert ( that wasn't like instrumental/orchestra/classical) and it was great. Our college hosted a Christian music group, FFH, and for 2 hours they performed while incorporating ministry at the same time; they were awesome! They used the college's chapel which seats like 1200-1500 people I think and it was packed! My sister, mom, and I got seats in the balcony. If we had brought the camera, I would have gotten some pictures but oh well. The $14 for a ticket was worth it!

Re: The NY season so far Well on Friday while turkey hunting a doe ran in front of me with a buck behind her grunting, then I hit a deer Sunday night, lost the trail and went back yesterday morning and picked up the trail but no deer. I'm hoping I didn't hit her too bad. I also saw a nice buck out with 2 does in a field yesterday when I went to look for the hit deer, that was 11am! I believe the rut is picking up here in unit 9N but I probably won't get to hunt until tomorrow late or at least Thursday.

Tonight the 3 intramural soccer teams are getting together as 1 to play the JV team, should be fun. We are going to get to play under the lights on the actual playing field of the JV and Varsity teams, way cool, lol!

Re: My 2 deer for SMOKEPOLE Season! Nice deer Ryan, sounds like you had a great weekend! Congrats again!

Re: Lost the trail! Well thanks guys but I couldn't find her. I went out yesterday, at least was able to find the trail again, she went a little more right than we though, below the one stand, and the trail looked good but then just slowed down and all I was finding were drops. I followed the trail down to a creek and then I could not find anything, did a couple big loops and no more blood except for a drop before she must have crossed the creek. I didn't find my arrow either! I did see a nice buck with 2 does out in a field though. Well I'm bummed a little but I'm just going to climb back in the saddle and hopefully get me a deer this season.

Re: i\'ll never understand!!! I know how you feel, kinda went through the same thing this past spring/summer. They are the ones that lose, not us.

Well guys, I got out of my stand last night, was walking down the edge of a cornfield and a deer comes out of the woods and starts heading right towards me. I put an arrow on my bow and get ready and it comes over this hill, stops, walks, stops, walks some more then turns broad side about 20-25 yards away. I release my arrow, I here a thwack and she hunches and takes off into the woods, making a bleating noise kind of. Andy comes over from his stand and we find the blood trail, no arrow yet, and track her. Well the trail started out ok then got really heavy and then it stopped, we only found a couple spots of blood before nothing! My mom is picking me up after my class ends at 10:50am and I'm going back over to see if I can find the deer or the trail and my arrow. So far it hasn't rained which is good. Andy thinks a leg shot or maybe gut, I'm not sure, what do you guys think? I felt so horrible and still do; it's part of hunting but still this had to happen in the same swampy woods that I shot the big buck in the leg my first year of hunting and didn't recover. I'll try to let you all know what happens later.

Re: Do you really hold out for the big ones? Hey buddy, long time no see The land I hunt is farm land and each year there seems to be more and more guys from the city hunting on it but I take anything I see because my mentality is "fill the freezer first". Between mine and Andy's tags one year, we put I think 7 deer in the freezer and ate all except a few roasts in one year. I think managment is good but if I pass on everything, we won't have food this winter, lol. Of course our neighbors are morons and only shoot bucks which is not as good as taking does and bucks. Just my opinion

Re: Scared senseless DUH! I can admit that sometimes shadows freak me out in the woods as dark and stuff but come on, that guy is a moron.

Any of you other NYers seeing deer action? I think the rut is starting pretty good down here in Allegany County. Yesterday whille looking for turkeys, I saw a really nice buck at about 3:30pm and he wasright by the old logging trail where one of our stands is and there is a scrape line on that trail that is constantly fresh! I think it was him Then the other day some deer came out in a field while playing a soccer game and I have been seeing more deer out in the day time. I also saw a ton of fresh scrapes through the woods yesterday. Lets hope with the rain today, it is going to bring some good action tonight

Re: Lucky Hunters? I haven't had too much luck, lol. Last Sunday a nice doe walked out in front of me 20 minutes after being in the stand, she was almost in a 20 yard lane when she spooked then probably andh our or so later, a buck comeso ut in front of me, was going to the same lane as the doe then spooked and jumped back to 30 yard marker, I shot right under him

Hey guys, I know I saw a post somewhere about this but last night I was watching Journal of the Texas Trophy Hunters on the Men's Channel and it was entirely on that huge whitetail the Amish farmer raised! They even showed his sheds and and measured his rack, 377 as a 4 year old! That deer is truly amazing.
