I shoot a 2011 Elite Hunter with a 25" draw length, set at 53 pounds...love this bow. If I hadn't shot this bow, I probably would have gotten a Mathews Passion.

Last night 3 bucks came off of bordering property (well what used to be property I hunted my whole hunting career that got sold to a farmer who doesn't let anyone hunt unless you lease) out into a field on the property I am hunting but around 200 yards out....2 small buck and 1 decent looking buck from what I could tell. They eventually disappeared then I decided to get down a few minutes early to check and move my trail came and a deer snorted on the property the other side of me and went down deeper into the woods. Had I not moved, this deer probably would have crossed right onto the property I was hunting and offered me a shot. Oh well...a good first outing.

Nothing......I try leaving a doe urine trail on my way to the stand, dragging a rag on the ground behind me, also tried some scent away spray on my clothing...don't know if it worked or not, otherwise I don't use anything....now do I use scentlock....and you all have seen the deer I've killed...

Welcome back Ross! I heard about the knifemaker serious on discovery and thought of you! I was wonderign where you've been....put some mineral oil on the wood handle of my knife you made me...looks very nice...haven't gotten blood on it yet though:-p

Bucks are changing patterns now though...I had a few bucks showing up like clockwork few weeks ago...once the velvet came off, a week or so later I get a pic here or there, mainly at night...your buck may still be out there

If I had a buck that size last year come in, I wouldn't have passed him up...guess it's the risk you take letting already big deer get bigger....

I'm hoping to head out this evening....my broadheads shot awesome yesterday...made the tiniest of adjustment to my sight, probably didn't really need to. Just need to get my pack ready and that's it. Might be a little rainy today, hope it ends by this evening or even just a slight drizzle...

Yeah sounds like your mz needs a good cleaning. I am new as well but asked questions on here and also read the instruction booklets. Bought mine used but it is almost like new, haven't shot it yet but what I've done is give it a good cleaning - hot soapy water scrubbed up and down in the barrel, some bore cleaner, then some bore lube so the barrel is seasoned and protected till I get a chance to shoot it. From what I've read and advice, you want to take meticulous care of your muzzeloader.

Congrats bb, show her off!! Shot the final shoot of a summer league this AM. Finished 7th overall out of about 30+ other archers, all mainly guys....no women's division, so I'm pleased with how I did.

Will post some of minelater but let's share some of our fav. pics from/during hunting seasons, past or present....can be scenery, wildlife, harvests, etc....

Well I shot a 5 on one target today but overwell very happy with how I shot...couple of the shots I didn't do great one was shooter error. It was the final shoot this AM, shot a 194 on a 20 target course and believe I finished 7th in the entire league (mainly all male shooters, only 1 other woman that I know of, no women's division, so finishing in the top 10 I'm happy with. Now onto deer season!

I've got a 3D shoot in the AM...just went out to take a few practice shots...I shoot better sick with a cold then not,lol. Still need to get a few broadheads on and check them...been busy with work so not sure if I'll go out in the AM for the opener or wait for my day off on Tuesday, we'll see.
