  1. Thinking this year I'm not going to be too selective in what I shoot...last year's 9 point just happened to come strolling by. going to hunt this year the same, basically anything with 6 points or more is getting an arrow unless smaller and it's non-typical;) After loosing all our main hunting land, we just have a neighbor's lease down the road we've been helping him with and then on weekends we often go to his other property with him...some nice deer over there. Filling the freezer is the main thing....would like to have some time to pheasant and turkey hunt this fall and maybe some fall steelhead fishing as well....on top of working 3-11 shifts...so not going to be too fussy this year. anything with a bow is a trophy!
  2. My last shoot is Saturday....20 target course, score is worth double points...will be fun:)
  3. Sorry ya didn't get a crack at one but thanks for letting us tag along Tim! Wishing you the best with the NY opener!
  4. I knew there were going to be some stupid dinner jokes involved...... He survived the night, put his hen in with him, she was going crazy wondering where he was...was eating last night....
  5. I'd be ready for a shot if one of them stopped and gave me a good shot, otherwise they'll keep on running free.
  6. Well my stupid horse attacked my pet gobbler....he's not standing on his right leg and the horse also tore his skin on the top of his back...it's good size. Not sure if the leg is broken or not...where the leg bone meats the foot, I could feel some movement there (I don't know if turkeys have ankles or not). The back wound I put some betadine and neosporin on, covered with gauze and have him in a box in the house where it is warm. Got some blue kote antiseptic spray for next time the bandage comes off....Not sure if my bird will make it through the night or not....he's sitting quietly in the box, his hen was yelping outside. Anyone have any poultry first aid tips?
  7. Ran one last year....was goign to try another one this year but just no time to train for it...
  8. Geesh, look who's counting down, lol. A week from Monday NY archery opens!
  9. Still not a bad score!Yeah I'm missing the last 3 evening shoots at my league, but top 4 scores are averaged then the final shoot on the 29th is worth double points, thankfully it's in the AM so I can go:) I've been practicing alot on form and release...my weak areas.
  10. Put a cam out today over a scrape near one of our stands on a neighbor's lease we are goingto be hunting... actually there are tons of scrapes. Also moved another cam...just to a diff. tree...things slowed down a little in our woods.
  11. Way to go finding him....nasty gut shot. I agree with mathews xt, backstraps and hindquarters probably have been ok.
  12. That's like asking what is the best apple, lol. It's down to personal choice, what bow shoots well for you. You may like a lower end bow betetr than a higher end bow....now a days bows are made fairly well no matter the name brand...
  13. Well you can't kill a deer from the couch...won't know till you try... Light rain/mist deer seem to like..
  14. Moldy Oak is not healthy for you....lol
  15. Replacement kit came yesterday along with a refund check! They sure go out of their way!
  16. Even if you don't tag something, it's all about comraderie and participation and learning and good stories:)
  17. A+ for MathewsXTMan!! He sent payment quickly for an HSS vest, great communication, great gu to deal with!
  18. I've found a few 3D shoots on the weekends but probably won't make any of them...they all seem to be on the weekends I work, lol.
  19. Can't see the deer in the pic, lol. Nice shed find!
  20. Working 3-11 last night, hospital went into lockdown, someone was murdered, guyon the loose. (mind you this is a very rural area, small town, these situations are almost unheard of). Guy was eventually found, killed himself after he shot a woman in the head, she was sitting in her car. Very sad, was the wife of an employee, I actually triaged the victim's spouse. Very very sad. Say a prayer for the people involved. I sure has heck have not had to deal with something like this...myself and the other nurse were on edge until we heard the guy was found and lockdown lifted. Leaves a knot in my stomach.
