  1. Re: SW 1911 I personally have no experience with the Smith & Wesson. I was able to find a review on the gun though: http://www.gunsandammomag.com/ga_handguns/smith_102105/ In the 1911 frame I have a Kimber Tact Pro II. I love mine. I am not that good with a handgun, but getting better with practice. I was able to put 14 shots center mass at 25 yards with less than 200 rounds through my gun. Good luck with the Smith.
  2. Re: 7 mag The 7mm is just fine for deer. I shoot a 7mm STW for deer. I shoot the 140gr Remington Core-Lokt's. As long as my shot placement is on, I do not waste any meat nor do they travel more than 30 yards after the shot.
  3. Re: One good day of archery hunting All I can say is "WOW"
  4. Re: Having an arrow nocked. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] When I am in my stand or in a ground blind, I nock an arrow. When I am walking, the arrows are in my quiver. [/ QUOTE ] Me too. [/ QUOTE ] same here [/ QUOTE ] Me four...
  5. Re: 30-06 clipe thingy You could take it back to the dealer that you bought it from and they will send it to Remington to repair. Or you could go to Brownells.com to purchase the part and repair on your own. On the Brownells site they have schematics of most guns. So you can look on there to you are sure that you are ordering the correct part.
  6. Re: Cedar Ridge Outfitters I have hunted Maine many times in the past, but never with them. I have done my hunting up by Shin Pond. We use a small outfitter up there. He is located about 25 miles out a logging road. I have yet to kill a Maine buck, but have past on a few smaller bucks while there. The best time of year to hunt in the week before Thanksgiving, that is their Rut. I saw more day in the middle of the day than any other time. Sit long and you will do very well in Maine. But take into account one thing, if you even see a deer in Maine you had a good week.
  7. Re: Some pics over the last week Very nice pics. Looks like you guys had a real good time out there. Congrats.
  8. Re: muzzleloader won\'t pattern I shoot a CVA Optima Pro also. I shoot 2-50gr Triple 7 behind a Powerbelt 295gr Hollowpoint. I can shoot 1" at 100 yards consistant, but only on a dirty barrel. When I clean the barrel, who knows what I am going to hit. So after a good day at that range I give it a good cleaning then shoot it one more time. Then leave it like that for the hunt. It is a bit harder to clean after the season, but it is the only way that it will pattern.
  9. Re: biggest ml buck yet! Congrats on a dandy of a buck.

  11. Re: Rifle scopes who has the brightest I have shot Nikons, Ziess, Leica, Bushnells, and Burris. At present my favorite is Burris Signiture Select (3-12x44). The Ziess Conquest works extremely well also, just a few hundred more. My Burris has good picture window from edge to edge. As for light transformation, I looked across the lake in Quebec at about 9pm and it looked like it was day light out in the scope.
  12. Re: BIG BUCK DOWN (PICS) In the name of all things sacred and holy, that thing is a monster. Congrats...
  13. Re: Best bow kill yet. (for me) Congrats on a very impressive buck.
  14. Re: my 11-02-05 10pt (pic) INDIANA Congrats on an awesome buck.
  15. Re: First Deer with a Recurve Congrats, awesome video.
  16. Re: The Mathews scored on Saturday Morning (pic). [ QUOTE ] Great buck ,congrats. Is he goin on the wall? [/ QUOTE ] No, he will not be going on the wall. At least not his whole head. I am going to be doing an antler mounting kit.
  17. Re: My outfitter flew me the bird..... I like an outfitter with a sense of humor. Because that is what I would have done, but I would have at least hit the target.
  18. Re: My Jeep got taller [ QUOTE ] That would work pretty good...once you got your deer to the road... BeanMan [/ QUOTE ] BeanMan, The good thing is I hunt all private land, mostly hay fields or orchards. All of my land owners have given me permission to drive anywhere I need to go to recover, even through the small patches of woods.
  19. Re: The Mathews scored on Saturday Morning (pic). Thanks for all the congrats folks. BTW, that hole is the exit. I hit the top of the heart and passed through the right lung. I could not see any definate holes in the left lung but I believe it was hit also, just because of the angle.
  20. Well I am working on building the ultimate deer recovery vehicle. I started with a 2005 Jeep TJ Willys Edition, the selling point is the woodland camo seats. As of recently I added an Old Man Emu 2.5" lift. I am hoping to have some more goodies to add on after the winter. I shot a nice 8-ptr on Saturday. I have the pics posted in the Bowhunting forums. I wish I would have taken a pic of my recovery vehicle in action. I will definately next time.
  21. Finally saw a buck worth shooting on Saturday morning. He came out about 150 yards from me. Started to work his way across the field, but about half way he turned and started walking up the center. Hit the grunt tube once, he stopped and stared in my direction. After a minute or so he started to walk up the center of the field again, about 75 yards away. So I hit the tube one more time and he made a bee line for my stand. At 22 yards he stopped and turned broadside. I let the arrow rip. He made it about 75 yards across the field before piling up. This is my biggest buck to date an 8-ptr (4x4) weighing about 140lbs.
  22. Re: Carbon Arrows ?? I started out using the Beman ICS, great arrow for the money. As of recent I have switched to the Beman MFX Max-4 w/ Bohning Blazer vanes. Both are great arrows, it all depends on how much you have to spend.
  23. Re: What gun you shooting....???? Remington 11-87 Ultra Mag Matte finish with wood.
  24. Re: Dream hunt! I am with Mick, it would have to be Griz in Alaska.
  25. Re: Carbon arrows??? I shoot thunderhead 100's being chased by Benman MFX Max-4's with HIT fletched with Bohning Blazer vanes. Very straight with both field points and broadheads.
