  1. Ah heck Didn't realize you were looking for Crossbow Bolt nocks. You're right. Nockturnal's aren't made for crossbows. Sorry
  2. Here Nockturnal, Lighted Nock, Lighted Nocks | DoubleTake Archery - Manufacturer of Precision Archery Products I use the point of a knife to turn them off. They are super easy to install (just push them in like a regular nock) and so far for me they work every time.

    Used Electronics?

A lot depends on what it is and what I've already got. Some consumer electronics can be factory refurbished by the manufacturer for a pretty reasonable price. Some of the stuff the manufacturer never wants to see again. If the manufacturer has a re-furb program for the product you're looking at. Figure out based on the sale price if that is still a good deal for you. A refurbed unit usually starts over with a new warranty. I have taken parts from used electronics to refurbish a similar model of something else I owned myself. Sometimes you can buy two used non-working units of the same kind for next to nothing (like $5 each). Out those two units you can sometimes make one working unit by switching parts between them. Concentrate on simple obvious fix stuff like power cords, speaker cabinet damage... Some used electronics can be fixed and some is hopeless. Don't buy anything sight unseen unless you are prepared to say bye bye to your money.
  4. I was in a chatroom on another forum and Dave Watson stopped by for a visit (he knows the owner of the forum). He is saying his hellos to everyone and out of the blue says, "Leo I watched your guitar videos on youtube. They're good!" Dave Watson is an accomplished musician I respect. He sure made my day with that comment. You met a good guy there

    300 REM question.

Sounds like a great reason to learn about reloading The 300RUM is essentially a necked down 404 Jeffrey's (Buffalo/elephant cartridge). It holds a huge amount of powder. The large powder capacity is one factor that drives the expense of these rounds. No you don't need it for whitetails but if you like it and shoot it well, no reason not to use it for whitetails. I use my 300WBY for whitetails often. Not because I think I need it. I just like the gun. It is a great bean field gun. If elk or bear are in your future. Hang on to that gun.

Congrats to Ben's dad for a nice deer! Don't feel bad Ben. Everyhour of unsuccessful hunting is one step closer to success.
  8. Adobe Premiere Elements is a good bet for you then. Make sure you try the trial version first! DVD authoring programs aren't cheap. I don't know of any freeware programs. If you plan on making a DVD to distribute keep this in mind. Most DVD players will recognize DVD +R but some won't. The ones that won't read DVD +R usually will read DVD -R. If you have family members with older players this might be an issue. Most of the newer players read both kinds.
  9. What do you want play your slideshow on? PC or do you want a DVD slide show playable on tv? There are quite a few options. The biggest pitfall with this stuff is a lot of the programs have computer hardware incompatibility. If your computer will not run the software because of a hardware issue you are out of luck and out the money! Nobody takes returns on software anymore. Download the free demo/trial version of any software you are thinking of buying before you buy it. That way if it won't run you are not out the money. Here's an example. Adobe - Adobe Premiere Elements : 30-day trial
  10. First thing. Check the connections at the back of the monitor and at the back of the computer. A loose connection or even a bad cable is your most likely culprit.

    NOOK vs. Kindle

Actually the Kindle reads several formats and amazon will convert many other formats to Kindle readable by simply emailing the file to the device. I've done this many times with .html and .prc files. A short description on how to do this is here. Amazon.com Help: Reading Personal Documents on Kindle (1st Generation)

    NOOK vs. Kindle

If you are going to read outside or for hours, the Kindle wins hands down. Yes it's only black and white but that screen is "electronic paper" and that has several advantages over LCD screens. You can easily read it in direct sunlight. It causes far less eye strain than LCD screens and the "electronic paper" screen is very efficient with batteries. My Kindle goes almost two weeks in between charges after reading it everyday a few hours or so. I've read over 20 books on my Kindle. I bought it to read books and that's all I need it for.
  14. It's about growing up as a young boy in WWII Germany. I get my sense of humor from my Dad. A lot of you will enjoy it! Boy with a White Flag
  15. The only time I see 100's shoot more accurately than 125's in the same broadhead style is when the shafts are underspined for the 125 grain head at that draw weight. Usually what happens is people buy the shafts for 100 grain heads. Start out shooting them just fine. Then they get stronger turn their poundage up and try 125 grain heads without changing shafts. The 125's shoot terribly because the shaft is underspined for them. Usually the 125s will have better long range accuracy than the 100s if the arrow shaft is spined correctly. This is because the 125s get you more FOC and this makes the arrow less susceptible to broadhead planing. So take a good hard look at your arrow shafts before deciding to swap out broadhead weights. You might be better off buying new arrow shafts.
  16. Now you can truly understand why I say southern africa is the best bowhunting in the world. And Texan, if you are really serious. Get your passport and immunizations knocked out right now. It's a real good idea to get that expense and series of shots over with. Ideally you want to be done at least six months in advance. Lot's of times insurance or your employer will pay for that but not always! The full series of hep shots takes six months to complete. Many folks go with just the first series of shots before they are completely immunized. Even if you win the lottery, you still aren't going until your immunizations are at least started.
  17. Yeah I know, Blue Wildebeest fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down. LOL! Not the best shoulder mount specimen for certain. They do however make gorgeous European mounts. Even better if you get Jana Waller to paint it up for you later. If I ever get a Blue Wildebeest that is probably what I will do.
  18. Very nice pictures! You did right passing on the Eland. Those are really young bulls. You might start to regret passing that blue wildebeast. That's a pretty nice bull.
