Didn't hear any gobbling this morning but it didn't matter!

Actually it's a Browning Gold 3 1/2. The mag extension obviously isn't necessary for turkey hunting but it does do some other nice things for me. I'm a tall guy and it allows me to sling the gun much lower on my shoulder. Makes it much easier carry. The sling connection ties the magazine tube to the barrel. This makes for two points tying the barrel to the magazine tube. Having two connection points ensures the barrel is absolutely true to the receiver. The gun also balances better with it on there so it's easier to hold still. If I take the plug out and stuff the gun full of loads at the range the extra weight those loads add to the gun really reduces recoil. Nice bonus when patterning extra hard kicking turkey loads. -
Well done Rhino! That's a good'n!

Yep Mike that Rosewood striker is my favorite one for that call. Thanks again for giving it to me! -
This morning was silent. Owl hooting and crow calling got no answer. Been the way of it every time I've got to go this season. A little discouraged, I set up in some open pines near a field edge I found some tracks in and just started some blind calling. Finally at 8:05am I spot a tom entering the sour grass 200 yards away. I call he answers! Breaks into strut. 15 minutes later I've got three jakes within 15 yards of me. One of the jakes is sporting a 7-8" beard. Almost a shooter but the one in the field dwarfs him. The jake gang sees the gobbler and goes out to harass him. They change their minds when they get closer and keep their distance! It takes me until 8:44am to finally get this bird into range. Almost 40 minutes of strutting and gobbling. It was awesome. I just knew a hen was gonna intercept him but God was kind to me this morning! Thank you Lord! 10 3/4" beard, 1 1/8" spurs, 22lbs a really fine bird! I'm ecstatic!

I know the SSD's are available. I just don't think the tech on them is quite ready. Heard a lot of complaints about them just dying. They'll get more reliable I'm sure but personally I can't afford to be a early adopter. Check with Crucial.com for matching the memory to that board. Use their "Memory Advisor tool"

Heck yeah! That's a nice system! Next time I build one I'd love to build one like that. I like AMD processors. I don't know about the SSDs either but that technology is definitely gonna happen. If you don't know already. You will need the 64bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium to access that 16GB ram.

You will be happy with that bow for a long time I can tell you thought real hard about it but also looked at these bows with honest objectiveness. You will be rewarded for your efforts. Still a lot of decisions completing the setup, I know, but if you approach them with the same thoughtfulness I believe you will be very happy.

Seeing any sign that birds are in the area? IE. Tracks, scratching or droppings. Some days the birds just aren't vocal. It doesn't mean you can't hunt them or they aren't there. Find sign you can see and hunt the area with confidence. I hunted new property for the second time a couple days ago. I did not hear the first gobble until 11:00am. First day I hunted there I heard nothing but I did find sign. Second time I heard nothing at daybreak either but concentrated my efforts where I first found sign. Now I've heard a bird there and know they are mostly using the area in the middle of the day. I'm getting closer to zeroing in on them there now but I understand how discouraging a silent day can be.

Man that really sucks That's just plain awful.

Really cool! You'd be a hero. Might be too much $$$$ though

That would be really cool if someone wanted to use one of my tunes for that. Guess it would be kinda like what I did playing the background music in this slide show. http://static.ak.fbcdn.net/rsrc.php/v1/yG/r/9buiZx_-Qt8.swf?v=1589159375831&ev=0

Honestly, I haven't found any correlation between hand shock, smoothness of draw, speed and my ability to shoot the bow well. A slightly longer ATA and brace height does help in some cases but a really well made grip versus a mediocre grip can eliminate that advantage. So my advice is keep it simple and just concentrate on deciding which one you actually shoot better.

Here they are. Enjoy Got to have some fun today.

This is what I do. Before you do anything make sure your cams are timed right! Even single cam and binary cam bows have a specific starting reference point on the cams! 1. Set the rest up with a center shot guage. Spray the fletching with foot powder to be sure there is no fletch interference. Fletch interference still can happen with drop away rests. Nock height and rest height is very important with drop aways. Make sure the rest is starting high enough above the shelf. 2. Attempt to papertune. Always only make ONE adjustment at a time. Make nock height adjustments before rest left or right adjustments. If adjustments don't seem to work change head weights. Heavier if it is acting too stiff and lighter if it is acting to weak. Papertuning right establishes left to right position of the arrowrest. 3. Walk-back tune. This will fine tune your rest left to right and nock point height. After you've done Papertuning and Walk-back tuning you are ready to broadhead tune. 4. Broadhead tune with a fixed head that weighs the same as your fieldpoints. In addition, the broadhead should cause the arrow to balance at as close to the same distance from nock end to balance point as the fieldpoint. Broadheads that do this are the most useful for broadhead tuning in my experience. Again make only one adjustment at a time! Always adjust the nocking point first if indicated. I personally do not make any rest adjustments when broadhead tuning. I've established position already with my previous tuning efforts. To correct for left and right differences I increase or decrease the draw weight in small increments. Using this method I've found the bow will shoot all types of heads better. Check out Easton's tuning guide for specifics on tuning.

Good job Dakota!

I'm particularly impressed with the reconstruction job on the ear on the right of the Nyala mount. You can see how his ear looked before.

Got an email from Trophy Service Taxidermy in South Africa this morning. My mounts are just drying for final paint and will be ready to ship next week. They sent me these photos of the work so far. They aren't quite finished. Still need the last detail painting. I figured folks would like to see them anyhow. Nyala Bushbuck

Found this matching set walking the dog yesterday. I found the first one and searched the area for 20 minutes and found the second. They are really nice and clean. Decent deer for this island.

I'm saying walleye.

This is what I was able to get from my front yard last night. Let's see some others.
