Seriously, who talks up a conference so much. If you're an Alabama fan, you shouldn't be bragging about Auburn winning the NT. You should only be bragging if Alabama wins the NT. Get it? What a bunch of jacks...

How'd I miss this? Haha. I agree...major double-standard. Just think about how many #2 jerseys OSU sells right out of their bookstore. But, that said, rules are rules and these dbags knew they were breaking them. If they could just wait a few years, their multi-million dollar NFL contracts will buy a lot of tats. -
You'd think they'd keep Robinson at QB after the year he had, but who knows. I'm sure you could move him to RB or WR and he'd contribute just as much. Mix him in the wildcat at times etc... The Hoke hiring seems like a good move. We'll see. With the recruitng class OSU has coming in, I'll enjoy 4 more years of dominance no problem, but I want the rivalry back! Makes for something to look forward to. I'm actually pumped to see the Nebraska join the conference and to see them finally get a Conf Championship game.
-
The problem now is what do they do about their roster. The QBs Michigan has in place aren't Hoke-style QBs. The QB at SD St was a big guy, more of what you're used to seeing at Michigan. He's got a long way to go to build up that defense. Sure they're young, but they're all tiny too.
-
Easy. Rich Rod chose to recruit smallish, quicker guys to run that gimmick offense he runs. You don't need to do that at Michigan. Carr recruited Ryan Mallet who was the #1 overall QB recruit in the nation. Mallet transferred after they hired RichRod. At the time, Michigan was one of Terrell Pryor's final three schools and he was the #1 QB recruit in the nation.
-
They just have to get back to their roots. There has to be a good coach out there with ties to Michigan who understands what sort of system they run there. They should have never fired Carr to begin with, but I don't think they necessarily need a big name guy. They're in a state of panic right now, so that's what they think they need. What they need is a guy who can recruit.

Jason, the Big Ten did very well against the SEC in last year's bowl games...it wasn't a good year for the Big Ten this year. With Nebraska coming into the conference next year, it's right up there with the SEC. There are garbage teams in the SEC too, you just have to look at the top of the coference and the SEC is comparable to the PAC 10, Big Ten and maybe even the Big 12. This year though, the SEC was the best conference.

Unfortunately, even HS sports aren't completely pure. There is a public school near me that just adopted an open enrollment policy and all of a sudden some of the best basketball players in the state transferred there. There was no reason they'd do that...the school isn't a historically good basketball school or anything and the city is sort of a dump. There has to be some incentive for these kids to transfer. Actually, Glenville HS which is in Cleveland and is a powerhouse football team every year and basically is a feeder system for Ohio State is a "public" school, but they adopted the "academy" system so they can basically recruit from all over the area. Troy Smith, Ted Ginn, Donte Whitner all went to Glenville...to name a few.

Dude- Cam Newton was the biggest headline in NCAA football all year, won the Heismann, and at the time was the starting QB for the #1 team in the nation (eventually winning the NT). You really think the NCAA is going to step in and rule him ineligible? You really think the NCAA is going to rule Terrell Pryor, Boom Herron, and the other 3 Buckeye players ineligible a few weeks before their BSC bowl game? There's a reason they waited to take down Reggie Bush ma man. Just like they're waiting to take down Cam Newton. Using the fact the NCAA ruled a big name player as "eligible" is sort of comical. They have one goal in mind and that is to make the bottomline as healthy as they can. Hence the fact we're stuck with the currect BCS system as opposed to the playoff system everybody wants to see.

Johnboy- OSU was the last team to beat Oregon before Auburn slipped passed them. They also beat the #2 SEC team. They're not bad, ey?

Here is the reality of the situation. It's a very good conference, at the top. But you can say that about the Pac 10, Big 12, and Big 10. Here's the main difference though. When ESPN slurps you so much they sign a contract with the conference to air the games- that sort of influence can go a long way. So when you realize the slurping that goes on and how that affects voters etc...the chances are there will always be an SEC team in the NT game. So, with that fact in mind...the conference has a 50% chance of winning the NT each year. That's pretty good odds. It took a last second FG to beat a Pac 10 team that played a very sloppy first half. And, it took Texas losing Colt McCoy for 'Bama to win last year. LSU faced an OSU team that had no business being in a NT game. The Florida win was a nice win for the conference.

Tell me about it. I love how Herbstreit has to preface everything with SEC. Like, "that SEC offensive line" or "that SEC defensive tackle." It should be more like, "welll since Auburn had the best QB money could buy, it's not surprising that the SEC won the game.":clap:If he turned down 180K from Ole Miss- I wonder how much he took from Auburn. I'm guessing it was closer to 250K.
-
No it wasn't...he's got a bunch of midgets running around out there, tiny RBs, tiny QBs, tiny WRs. That offense was developed by schools that had no choice but to utilize smaller, quick guys because the bigger athletes went to better conferences and teams. When you have the recruiting power of Michigan, you don't ignore that and start recruiting midgets to "fit your offense" unless you're a complete moron. And the defense was his fault too...you have to recruit that side of the ball too.

I like Colt McCoy, in the right offense I think he can be a good QB.

I don't really like Pryors arm at all. I don't expect him to last in the NFL, but you never know. He claims he's returning for his senior year, even though he won't play a full schedule I'm sure he'll improve. Fitz had a pretty good year. I think they could win with that guy. I don't know who Bowers is, but I hope my Browns draft your boy Blackmon from Okie St. -

Dude, you're joking, right? He's not an NFL QB in my opinion. If anything, I'd say the Bills should draft Mallet. -
Just one more thing I was ahead of the curve on boys. Anyway- I was spot on about this guy and his gimmick offense from day one.

If I'm going to betray my roots, I'm buying a Packers jersey. -
Why in the world would Les Miles leave LSU for a Michigan program that is going to take years to rebuild? Actually, I'm pretty sure the only reason they haven't fired Rich Rod yet is due to the fact they can't find anyone to take the job.

Come on guys...I mean, the Browns bashing should stop. They fired their coach, I don't think they've ever tried that before. I think they're problems are over now. Perrenniel 12 win team from this day forward. -

Did I ever say the SEC didn't put guys into the NFL? Read the words Johnny. -
Well...it is better than a 12 team playoff or something. I mean, look at NCAA basketball, that tourney they have in March...no one even pays attention to it.:poke: Just think about a football bracket that had Auburn, Oregon, TCU, Boise St., Wisc, OSU, whoever won the Big 12...how awesome would that be?

yeah... what was i thinking trusting yahoo sports.
