  1. That's all you need to know right there. You didn't hear any USC players stepping up for Pete Carroll when he tucked tail and fled to the NFL before the NCAA dropped the hammer on that program. Tress is a good man, victimized by a corrupt system.
  2. Exactly. The NCAA is a joke. They want the big name players in their BCS game, they want to sell jerseys with the big name players' numbers on the back of them, they want to profit on the national TV revenue these kids bring in for them... Then, the minute they find out these players are selling or trading in THEIR OWN PERSONAL PROPERTY to get a tatoo...the NCAA says, WHOA...that's a voilation!! Really dude?? 'Cause from where I'm standing the only people doing the voilating work at the NCAA corporate office. Then a snake in the grass like Dohrmann drags a good man's character through the mud to sell his story.
  3. John, I've known you for quite a few years now and to this point, you seem to have displayed some intelligence. So, clearly, you're smart enough to pick up through Dohrmann's tone- his obvious axe to grind. Read these... "When those revelations became public, Tressel said he hadn't known what the players had done and expressed disappointment that they had not listened to what he called the "little sensor" inside them that knew right from wrong. By ignoring his own "little sensor" and failing to be forthcoming, Tressel protected key players from being ruled ineligible for much of the 2010 season, in which the Buckeyes were a popular pick to reach the BCS championship game." To your point about the FBI discovering this...read Dohrmann's own words...you think SI was paying for info...I sure do. "That support crumbled suddenly over Memorial Day weekend. Tressel was forced out three days after Sports Illustrated alerted Ohio State officials that the wrongdoing by Tressel's players was far more widespread than had been reported. SI learned that the memorabilia-for-tattoos violations actually stretched back to 2002." Again, grinding away at that axe. The line I boldfaced is where Dohrmann's opinions should be left out as an unbiased member of the media... "For more than a decade, Ohioans have viewed Tressel as a pillar of rectitude, and have disregarded or made excuses for the allegations and scandal that have quietly followed him throughout his career. His integrity was one of the great myths of college football. Like a disgraced politician who preaches probity but is caught in lies, the Senator was not the person he purported to be."
  4. pretty quick to jump off the bandwagon there, ey, Tom? How can a guy go from walking on water to Wal-Mart greeter that fast in your book?
  5. Mr. Dohrmann tries to pass his own judgement on Tressel's character in that article. I'm fine with him recounting the 'facts' of the case- if that's what you want to call loose 'testimony' from disgruntled former players and ex-con's (who were all paid to talk)- but why don't we keep your stupid opinions out of it, Dohrmann? I'm sure if the entire SI staff devoted the next 3 months of their lives to diggin up dirt on Dohrmann's past, they'd be able to find their fair share...
  6. SI went out and found every Columbus lowlife they could...great sources. Tressel does A LOT OF GOOD for his players and THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE. Every program has guys giving $100 handshakes, man. For a slimeball like Dohrmann to try an tear down a man's character the way he did, shows you all you need to know. Even after all of this, Tress is still a way better person than George Dohrmann will every be. Rigging a raffle so top recruits could win when he was a low level assistant coach? Really Dohrmann? That's the 'dirt' you're going to put into your story? Then you're going to back that up with testimony from convicted felons? Wow...way to build a case you schlep...
  7. Chris- can you name a coach at a major Div. I program who's job isn't dictated by wins? John- I read the SI article...hence why I referenced the author, George Dohrmann, in my first reply. You know what I read, Ray Small, a punk who never lived up to his potential and was always disgruntled about his lack of playing time as well ex cons and crinimals being quoated as Dohrmann's 'sources.' I'd like to know how much SI compensated those dbags. Did Tress mess up? Sure. But this has been a witch hunt, orchestrated by the most hypocritical organization around, the NCAA. When you hear former players talk about the man's character and the impact he's had on their lives, that's all you need to know. Every Div. I coach turns a blind eye to 'friends of the program' taking care of players, bud, even JoPa. If Penn State were any good, SI would be digging for dirt on them too ma man.
  8. Seriously Kev, what is up with the Dodgers? With Kemp and Ethier having the years they are...they should be winning a lot more games. I don't get it. I really like Manny Acta as a manager.I love his approach to the game, as well as how he handles the media and his players. He's a major upgrade over Eric Wedge, I'll tell you all that much. Plus, they're doing all of this without Choo and Santana hitting...they were hitting 3rd and 4th for most of the year (they finally dropped Santana). It's going to come down to the pitching. If it can hold up, they'll be able to win the division. I think .500 ball form here on out gives like 93 wins. That should be good enough to win the Central.
  9. I was never a fan of his game time coaching. But he's a good man. I can think for myself, and not be led around by the nose by ESPN and reporters like Geogre Dohrmann. For one, you can take the 5 star recruit out of the hood, but you can't take the hood out of the 5 star recruit. These players were punks, and Terrell Pryor is the worst thing that happened to OSU. Tressel tries is best to turn these punks into upstanding young men. He encourages them to pray, he does his best to teach them values...but they want to smoke their pot, get their jailhouse tats in exchange for their Gold Pants... Tressel can't monitor them 24/7, and a punk like Pryor is unreachable and filled with ego. When Tressel received that email informing him of his players actions, he reached out to Pryor's mentor...a man I'm sure Tress hoped would be able to reach Pryor and get him to change his ways. If you guys are gonna sit there and say you would have hit the print button and ran with that email down the hall to the NCAA Compliance officer...you're lying. If you all think Tressel is the only coach turning a blind eye to boosters hooking kids up with cars, no show jobs, and the like you guys are crazier than I thought. Every program does this- it's only when you're on top- you get pinched. SMU at the time, USC a few years ago, and now the Buckeyes. The same things go on at Sun Belt Conference schools, but you won't hear about it because it doesn't make for as good a story as does programs like USC and OSU going down...

    Music?

I'm not a country fan at all. I mostly listen to Indie Rock. My favorite bands right now are The Strokes, The Decemberists, The Manchester Orchestra, Radiohead, Portugal. The Man (going to see them tonight actually). I like heavier stuff too- like Deftones, Tool etc...
  11. First and fourth picks in June's NBA draft. Anderson Varejo coming back, Antawn Jamison coming back healthy, Baron Davis under contract to groom the eventually #1 pick Irving, their trade exemption... You heard it hear first boys and girls, the Cavs will be the 4-6 seed in the Eastern Conference next season....marking one of the greatest single season turn arounds ever. Boom.
  12. and you guys thought you wouldn't miss me. this sports room is a joke now, what happened?

    Binding trousers?

    anyone else having this issue?
  14. Yeah...terrible. That E60 show is a joke too. I do like their '30 for 30' movies. Some of those have been outstanding. I just DVR those, and have Mike and Mike on in the morning while I'm getting ready for work. Other than that, unless it's a game I don't watch the network.
  15. He's horrible. What I can't stand about him is the stupid analogies he makes. A few days ago I heard him compare Andrew Bynum's apology over elbowing JJ Berea to how you go about cheating on your wife...really dude? Doooooooood I would never want to work for ESPN. Just give me scores and stats...that's what I want out of a 'sports' network. I don't need stupid 48 hour countdowns to a regular season BoSox v. Spankees game. I don't need to see the gap-toothed Rachel Nichols giving me a live update from whatever high school field Brett FAV-RAH is breaking some 16 year olds fingers with tight spirals as he prepares for his 'comeback.' I don't need to see Mel Kiper needlessly annunciating names like 'D'Brickashaw' for 6 months leading up to the draft. I don't need to see them give a platform to some over indulged loser like LeBron James so he can announce he's 'taking his talents to South Beach.' The only thing ESPN has going for it right now is Erin Andrews...and I'm still majorly bummed the courts confiscated my VHS tapes...it wasn't easy getting those shots through the peepholes. You know how long that took me! Sheeesh...the nerve of some people just because they're a 'judge.' Come on....
  16. Kyle- actually, I think it's going to be a Thunder vs. Heat final. A couple weeks ago I thought the Thunder would win that series if it happened, but now I'm not so sure. Whatever happens, I hope the Heat lose.
  17. He's about to get knocked out by MEMPHIS....and he won't win anything until that team has a dominant big...case in point, the fact they traded for Perkins. They're trying, unfortunately, Perkins isn't good enough. But they recongnize muggsbows point about their lack of an inside presense. How right was I about Vince Young, Troy Smith, BRETT FAVRE, Andruw Jones, JaMarcus Russell...the list is almost too long to continue so I'll stop now, while I'm STILL WAY AHEAD.
  18. how do you think it feels to be the second best player on your OWN TEAM? :poke:
  19. haha awesome!!!!!
  20. NBA comeback player of the year 2012. :poke:
  21. hmmm...good question, I would like to take a golf lesson from Ben Hogan.
  22. I'm in and I already hate my picks.
  23. Haha, man you guys REALLY get led around by your nose by those idiots over at ESPN. Come on... Tressel gets a random email from an attorney he has no affiliation with whatsoever, and an attorney who is known to represent local drug dealers...and you guys expect him to act on those two emails alone? Two random emails sent from a guy he doesn't know, and a guy who has poor character? Haha, yeah dbags, he should have hit the print button on that puppy and ran to the NCAA. Wake up. These kids were selling their own personal property, which shouldn't even be an NCAA violation...as the hypocritical NCAA sell #2 Pryor jerseys and make a mint. You kidding? If YOU were in Tress' position there is no way you would have done anything different. If YOU THINK any other college football coach would have done anything different...you're lying. Much worse goes on besides withholding something you heard randomly from an untrustworthy source. Shoot, the National Championship QB and Heisman winner was being shopped around by his own father for $180K!! ESPN swept that under the rug as soon as they realized they could profit off the kid too. And if Miss St. couldn't get Newton for $180K...I wonder what the final price was that allowed Auburn to sign him...I'm guessing $225K There, I feel better, wisdom imparted down to the lesser mortals who think ESPN is credible. And a good day to you, Sirs.

    Perch back

Nice looking mount. I think jerch mounts are cool, I've seen a few mounts that were stringers of about 8 jumbo perch, one of the cooler mounts I've ever seen.
