    Skunk Season

Chris, isn't bow season basically "skunked' season for you already?
  2. Ruth, is that a centerpin in your avatar?
  3. I'm heading out there Sunday, might be able to sneak out tomorrow too. I need to tie some flies myself. Good luck, Ruth.
  4. well, at least you ended up finding him. will make for a nice euro mount and a good story.
  5. He just doesn't want to negotiate during the season, and the Cards know they will have another chance to negotiate during the next offseason. I think he stays with the Cards. If not, I see him becoming a Dodger or Angel (Kev- settle down).
  6. Nice job guys...well except for Chris. Hehehe...just kidding man. Keep it up. That livestrong website MD posted is a great way to count calories. I've been sucessful at weight loss over the past 4 years. The key for me was maintaining a log of what I ate daily. Well, that and exercise (running). If you guys aren't counting calories and logging what you eat, you might want to try it. Set a goal for your daily calorie intake and do not go over it. The nice thing about that livestrong site is that you can search foods (even by brand name) and it will give you the exact calorie count. It will also track calories burned based on any exercise you've done and the lenght of time you did it for. Just a thought, the biggest avdvantage I realized with logging what I ate was the fact I was conscious of what I was putting in my body. That really helped me to either choose a banana instead of a donut with my morning coffee...or just passing on something because I knew I was already 1,200 calories for the day and didn't want to waste any calories by eating something I wasn't even really hungry for etc... Good luck!
  7. This pic is striking man...nice work

    Polar plunge!

Whoa, that could have been bad. I do a lot of winter fly fishing for the steelhead in my area. I've gone in twice when it was below freezing outside, and fell through some shelf ice a third time...those all happened when I was a lot younger and didn't think things through like I try to do now. Yeah, like Chris said, ice on streams is nothing you should be walking on. Glad to hear you made it home safe.
  10. I do have an archery shop about 6 miles from my house, I just like doing stuff on my own if at all possible. I think eventually I might breakdown and spend the $100 for an arrow saw...I'm just now getting into building my own arrows though. Haven't had the need yet.
  11. No, they're cutting carbon arrows...but like I said, I didn't like the results. I did it on an older arrow to see what it would do and it was a clean, square cut. But to hutchies point- not sure how that would affect the arrow as far as potential splinters etc...
  12. I bought a dozen new shafts, nocked and wrapped them. Before I start to fletch, I need to cut about 4" off each of them. If I can DIY something, I usually will. I looked online a bit, saw some guys cut them with a metallic pipe cutter. I tried that, very slow and steady on an old arrow and it did an okay job, but I'm not happy with it. You guys got any other methods?
  13. I took it to McGrath's out in Mentor-On-The-Lake. He did my 2009 buck and I hear he's really good with fish mounts. Hopefully, I'll get a 12 lbs. steelhead to put on the wall next to this big girl.
  14. I thought of you while we were up there Chris. The Coast Guard had to pull 80 guys off the ice that day. They were out way too late on the risky ice south of S. Bass Island and north of the mainland. I could picture you doing that back in the day getting out PO'd at these morons. I also heard the Coast Guard chopper had to force a guy to turn back and head towards the mainland. He was trying to drive himself and his WIFE across that bad ice at 11:30 at night on a snowmobile in what was close to a whiteout blizzard. Those are the people you hear about dying out there...morons.:1eye:
  15. I needed to change my pants when I saw this thing come up to the hole. Haha. That pic doesn't really even give show just how big she was. I'm waiting for my buddy to email the pics from his camera and I'll upload them here. But yeah, she was a big old female full of eggs.
  16. Caught her out on Lake Erie...only thing I caught all day. She was 29.5" long, 19" around and registered 12.15 lbs. on our digital scale. It's the biggest walleye I ever caught. Getting it mounted.
  17. It's like Brett Favre and Big Ben just got the shaft at the same time...I couldn't be happier.
  18. Congrats Corey, you finally have a legit point.:hammer1: As a matter of fact, no one has seen the true Oden play. Even during his time at OSU, he only had about 60% motor function in his right wrist...and still led his team to the title game as a true freshman. What a shame. He'll be back soon though, look at Big Z.
  19. i've heard of that happening here in Ohio in Jan etc... but it happend to those hunters while they were dragging the buck. tominator's track record around this forum is sorta suspect, but i think he's right...a good taxidermist should have no problem doing that mount. nice buck man.
  20. Tom and Chris remind me of an old married couple....
  21. My posts will also stand, dbag. I'm kind of a legend 'round these parts. Surprised you didn't already know that.
  22. Those meal replacement bars are not a good idea, they have A LOT of calories. I would suggest trying to get as many whole foods as possible, and really pay attention to your portion size. If you can just drink water, that would be best, but since you may grow tired of that- I'd just stick with low calorie vitamin water type drinks or maybe natural unsweeted ice tea or something. Pop is about the worst thing for you when you're tyring to lose weight.
  23. another game where i wish both teams could tie 0-0
