At least you are seeing a bird or two. From the reports I've read, most of New York like myself have yet to see a bird. I hunted all day opening day (covering 3 different properties) and never saw a bird nor heard a shot.

I hunt NY just like you do and you are not alone. Opening day was a Friday so I couldn't get out till day two. We were in the woods at daybreak and hunted till 11am plus we hunted three different properties. We did not hear or see a single bird all morning. That was not the worst. If you are familiar with the rolling hills of Madison County, you know you can see and hear for miles. We never heard one single shot all morning. I know we were not the only guys in the woods that day but for no one to shoot is pretty bad. I'm not sure if it was our bad winter or what but the turkeys are gone.

After the winter we just had, anyone who complains about it being to hot is going punched in the throat. :boxing:

Unfortunately she may not return. I was by one of our DEC officials that once a turkey is spooked off her nest she rarely comes back. Often they go off and start another nest. You may want to check back and she if she is still there.

Yup. Ticks were never even a thought 10 years ago. Now they are everywhere and with a lot worse diseases than Lyme. Some that can kill in less than 6 hours.

They have just opened three stores here in NY. They are very very cool. It's one of those stores that is hard to leave empty handed. Dan, the closest one to you is Gloversville. I recommend that if one opens near you..GO!
