  1. 1976 Ford F150 pickup. I baled straw and hay in the summer and worked on a horseradish and dairy farm after school in the fall to pay for it and cover insurance. It cost me $600. I actually bought it about 6 months before I turned 16. It had a 360 in it that smoked like no tomorrow, but ran pretty good.
  2. I've been to it the past few years, but decided to pass this year. It seems like the same old stuff year after year, but looks like they added a little more kids stuff this year. I would've liked to have met Ralph and Vicki. Now I wish I would've went LOL. I knew that would happen.
  3. It was great to see a fresh face in victory lane. What a moment for that kid! He ran a perfect race. I didn't see a dent or swirly on either side of his car.
  4. Well, the deadline has came and went with no deal. I think the 300 million over 10 years he's reportedly asking for is a bit much. I just don't think he can keep his numbers up for another 10 years, and I think he will start having more injuries as he gets older. It may be his last season as a Redbird.
  5. Happy birthday young lady! Hope you have good one!
  6. Same here in Illinois. My cousin shot a buck with his bow Thanksgiving weekend and it ran on the neighbors property. We asked for permission to get it and he told us about all the big deer he's shot over the last few years he's owned the property. He let us track on his property and we found two fresh kills from gun season, both with the backstraps cut out and one with the head cut off. The rest was left to rot, and both were tagged and checked in via the internet. It made my cousin and I pretty hot about the whole deal, but according to the DNR he did evrything legal. Ethically it stinks, but unfortunately not much a guy can do about it. The bad part is that this is what he's teaching his kids who hunt with him. It's no wonder the deer numbers on this farm we hunt are way down..this joker's killing 6 or 7 deer a year on the ground next door and leaving hundreds of pounds of meat lay on the ground and rot.
  7. Okaloosa Island. I think it was at the Ramada right on the beach. It was prett sweet...I don't think I wore a shirt or shoes for three days LOL.
  8. Last year we went to Table Rock Lake. We stayed at a decent place right on the lake. It's priced decent. We rented a boat one day, hung out at the pool, went into Branson which is only about a 15 minute drive, and Silver Dollar City is right there close too. We went to Fort Walton Beach, Florida for a few days two years ago and stayed at a hotel right on the beach. It had an inground pool and a little kids water park area at the hotel, which was nice. It was a little on the pricey side, but it was the first time my kids seen the ocean so it was worth it.
  9. what are getting your better half for Valentines day? I'm still undecided. I don't really see Vaneltines day as that big of a deal, but my wife usually likes to get something. I guess she deserves it for putting up with me.:jaw: She's watching what she eats, so that puts candy out. I have a little problem buying overpriced flowers that end up in the trash a week later. Plus I just got her flowers a few weeks ago for her birthday. Any ideas?

    Economy??

Things still seem stagnant around here. Jobs are still hard to come by and the unemployment rate is the same as it was this time last year. Here at the shop I work at we had 30 people working here 5 years ago, now we have 7 with no immediate plans to add people. I haven't seen a raise in a few years, and I know a few people that have been on unemployment for over a year now. Illinois just raised the state income tax for both employers and employees, and to make up for the increase the company I work for is dropping the company sponsored health insurance. It's gonna be a tough year for me personally. I heard on the news this morning that they expect $4 per gallon of gas by the end of summer, which I could see totally putting the brakes on any hope of a recovery in the next year or two.
  11. The first real date that the wife and I went on was to a hockey game. It's tough to come up with good ideas considering your weather this time of year. We have a place called "Dave & Busters" around here that's kinda like a Chucky Cheese for grown ups. Don't know if you have something like that up there or not. I like the idea of a dinner and a nice romantic nightime snowmobile ride.
  12. I'll take cold and snow any day over 100 degrees and humidity. Winter doesn't really slow us down much. Saturday it got up to about 30 degrees and I threw some pork steaks on the grill, popped open a cold brew, and watched the kids play on the swingset LOL.
  13. Same here. I do hunt during the full moon, but generally don't use much vacation within about 5 days or after a full moon. I never really payed any attention to the game movement charts.
  14. They had our forecast at 1/2" of freezing rain and 8-12" of snow between Monday night and today. Turned out that we got about 1/4" of freezing rain, an inch of sleet, and about an inch of snow. Kind of a bummer for someone that really likes the white stuff.
  15. Awesome, man! A buddy of mine has me talked into applying for a Minnesota tag this year. I have no clue how hard it is to get drawn there, but hopefully it works out.
  16. I would watch the LFL over the Pro Bowl anyday.:angel1:
  17. Same here...that was all I could handle.:bang: I watched a field goal and the defensive linemen just stood up and put there hands in the air. There was zero contact on the play. They might as well play flag football.
  18. I actually by quite a few parts from Advanced. I signed up for their newsletter, and they send out weekly discounts codes for online orders. I order and pay online, and pick up the order in the store. I bought about $120 worth of parts a few weeks ago, and saved $30. I didn't know about the price match though. I'll have to remember that next time.

    New Job update

Congrats on the new job! You're one of the lucky ones. Job market around here is still pretty sketchy. Glad it worked out for you, man!
  20. Sweet! Congrats Anthony! He's a beauty!
  21. It's funny that you bring this up! I just finished two cars for my kids last weekend. They race them for Sunday school once a year apparently. The race is this Sunday...I'll try and get a few pics of our creations. It's way more work than I remember as a kid.LOL Great tips New! I'll definately give them a try.
  22. Happy birthday Muff! Hope you have a great one, man!
  23. I have been pheasant hunting in South Dakota with a outfitter/guide several times. Super guys to be around, lots of birds, all private ground, sweet lodge, and very reasonable.

    flu

I had it two weeks ago. Nasty stuff man..you have my sympathy. It was the first time I've had it in about 5 years. Missed two days of work because of it. I did drop 5 pounds though.
