  1. I usually plant my brassicas in central Illinois labor day weekend and always had a pretty solid crop.Brassica's seem to grow really quick around here.If your a little farther north I would think mid august would be ideal.
  2. I still shoot 2219 Easton aluminums. It costs me about $5 an arrow and my shop always has them in stock.
  3. I've been using the Crimson Talons for a few years now. I've probably killed 5 deer with them and never had any issues. Every shot was a pass thru and I've never had one go more than 50 or 60 yards. Most of them i cleaned up and put back in my quiver. They fly great and leave a good blood trail. The only down side is target removal and sharpening.
  4. I've bought two bows off AT without any issues.
  5. It is a pretty cool set up. I've shot league for a few years where we shoot DART(techno hunt) one week and pop-up's the next.
  6. I shoot a Journey also. I've only had it a few months, but it seems like a solid bow. It is a little heavier than my Bowtech was. Not much, but it is noticeable. It shoots great though.
  7. It's killin' me! I really dislike summer...my wife thinks I'm weird. It's been 90+ degrees here for 9 straight days here.
  8. Happy birthday Brownie!Hope you have a great day!
  9. I'm not sure if they were bow hunting or gun hunting. In Illinois the only time blaze orange is required is during the firearm seasons.(Youth, shotgun, and muzzleloader.)
  10. I hunt in Madison and Montgomery counties.
  11. Sounds like a nice vacation. Were thinking about stopping in Destin for a few nights when we go to Geargia at the end of next month.
  12. Glad to here he's doing better Kyle. It sounds like he'll be home in no time.
  13. That sounds like my kinda' weekend! I have to coach my daughters t-ball game in the morning, then we'll probably go visit Grandpa. Sunday we're b-b-quing at the house.
  14. I agree Kirk. I remember when I was in high school in the early 90's, and everybody we asked premission from gave it to us. Not so nowadays. The only reason I have any private ground to hunt is because I've known the owners since I was a kid. One piece is very small, and the other is overhunted, but it's better than nothing. If they would ever sell I would be sol.
  15. My Moultrie d-40 had been a decent camera for the money. The night pics could be a little better, but for 90 bucks I can't complain too much. I did have two flashes go out, but they did replaced them, and the customer service seemed top notch.I'm saving up for a Reconyx now.
  16. It seems to be hit and miss with peoples results.Ive done about 18 of my aluminum arrows over the past three years with no complaints.I used the extreme's with 4" Duravanes and they held up great through my whisker biscuit on my old bow.I would be afraid I would lose the RT ones.:hammer1:
  17. Happy birthday William!Hope you have a great day!
  18. I feel ya! When we got married I told my wife I had an open weekend on September 30th. It was the weekend after our dirt track quit and the weekend before bow season opened. I could've done a little more planning on the having kids part. I have one born in December and one in October.
  19. Sweet!Looks like a blast.I went to Gateway a few years ago, and it's something every race fan should see in person at least once. The top fuel dragsters and funny cars are unbelievable in person. Where are the pics of Ashley Force?
  20. We park the truck close to where we camp at.We use a canvas outfitter tent and have a fire going in it most of the time.I keep all my gear in rubbermade containers inside the truck.I get dressed outside(which can be pretty darn cold at times) and spray every layer as I put it on.Once I get a little ways from camp I spray the outside layer again.I never eat or drink(except water) in my hunting clothes and they never go inside the tent. On the flip side my cousin keeps his clothes in containers in the tent, and manages to kill deer consistantly, even though his clothes smell smokey.

    Well Hello All.

Congrats to you and your family! There's nothing in the world like being a daddy.
  22. I generally change mine when i start seeing signs of wear from fraying or serving seperation. I've bought my bow strings from Archery Talk. They seem to be a little cheaper than getting them at the bow shop.

    Out of the Wild

It's a pretty decent show. They don't appear to be much for hunters. I'm not sure how you could hunt for a few days in Alaska and only come up with a porcupine. The contestants are doing what they need to to survive though. It's on after The Deadliest Catch so I usually watch it.I watched it last season also.
