  1. I think you're correct Swampy. My daughter just got got over a headache, dry cough, and 102 fever.I'm guessing she had the flu. She slept a lot for a day and a half, but is finally over it.

It jumped 25 cents overnight here last weekend. About $2.69 a gallon here in town. I believe they cut production again a week or two ago to drive prices up.
  3. Vikes are tough this year! To me it looks like their biggest weekness is pass defense. They score plenty of points, but need to not give up so many yards. Favre is the man, and seems to be playing some of the best football he's played in years.
  4. The Pens will be the team to beat this year. The game was on Versus, but since we have direct t.v. I didn't get to see it. Doesn't sound like I missed much. The Blues are about as inconsistent as you can get this year for some reason. They need to shore up the defense. I thought I heard that Malkin got like 12 shots last night.:helpsmilie: It's still early....hopefully they can get it turned around.
  5. It's been slow for me so far too. I have yet to see a buck, and haven't had a doe closer than 50 yards yet. I hunt in Madison, Bond, and Montgomery counties, and I would say less than 10% of the crops are out. The farmers got going Monday, but a ton of rain is expected tommorow, so that will slow them down for a few more days.
  6. I've never had them hit very hard either. The deer do seem to be eating them some, but they never have been a very good draw for me. This is about my 4th year planting them. I'm hoping one of these days they decide to tear them up. I do mix mine with oats and winter peas, which the deer seem to like.
  7. I feel ya! I tend to be so pumped for the season to start I tend to get myself burnt out a little before November gets here. The funny thing is I've never killed a deer before the last week in October.
  8. I seen two does during my Saturday evening sit, but they stayed about 20 yards out of range. There's still a lot of crops in, but hopefully with a dry week this week the farmers can start getting some out. I'm off again Friday, so I'll get to hunt the morning.
  9. Congrats on a nice one! Gotta love the traditional equipment. I wouldn't mind trying it out myself next year.
  10. I'm off work tommorow, so i'll be in the woods for a few hours in the morning. Saturday I'm heading up to a farm I haven't hunted yet this year, so hopefully the weather cooperates and can put one down. Naturally it's supposed to rain Friday and Saturday, but I plan on going out anyway.
  11. I just put a B-Square mount and a Redhead red dot on my Winchester 1300/rifled barrel this year. I tried a scope, and since I've never used one I just couldn't get used to it. I've put about 5 boxes of slugs using the red dot, and so far so good. This will be my first year hunting with anything other than rifled sights, so we'll se how it goes.
  12. This for me too. If sunrise is at 7:00 and shooting time starts at 6:30 I want to be settled in the stand by 5:45 or 6:00 at the latest. During gun season I get about 30 minutes earlier than that.
  13. Congrats Jeramie! Sounds like you were covered up in deer.
  14. I just put a B-Square mount on my Winchester slug gun. It seems to be pretty solid. I shot about 20 slugs through it sighting it in, and it never moved.
  15. Congrats on the does boys! I got skunked again this weekend. The only chance I had to go out was Sunday evening, and I never seen a deer. My weekends will be opening up a little more now, so I'll be able to start spending a little more time in the woods.
  16. If you get some let us know how it works! I usually steer clear of synthetic lures, but i know Primos make some quality stuff, so this might work.
  17. Great game regardless. Jared Allen is an animal. Both q.b.'s played about as good of a game as you can expect. When you give favre 6 or 7 seconds to set and throw he's going to make some big plays. The Packers did seem to have Peterson's number last night, keeping his rushing yards down. Rodgers may not last long if they keep giving up 7 or 8 sacks per game. The Vikes played decent, but it seemed like once they had a good lead in the 3rd quarter they just sat back and let the Packers climb back into it.
  18. I finally got going Sunday morning. Never seen a deer from the stand, but jumped two fawns bedded down on the way back to the truck. I took my 5 year old daughter out for a few hours last night to look over a bean field, but never seen a deer. Pretty slow start, but all the crops are still in. Once they get the corn and beans out things should pick up.
  19. Man, I would love to be at that game. The Vikes are my team, so that's who I'm going with. 20-16 Vikes.
  20. Boooya!! The Bluenotes took both games in Sweden from the Wings, who appear to have goaltending issues.
  21. Happy birthday Swampy! Have a good one man!
  22. Nice! Great buck Todd...congrats!
  23. The Blues should be a solid team this year. They play the Red Wings in Sweden today. drrr......drrrr.....drrrrr......lets go Blues!
  24. Season opened here yesterday. I'm going to try and make it out tomorrow morning and maybee Sunday evening. Good luck to everybody!
  25. Someone on his team will get hurt and Kimbo will fight again before the season is over. That pretty much went down just like I thought it would. They had to stop the fight, because that crusifix position and baby punches would've just went on and on. Kimbo needs to work on take down defense and he'll be alright. To be honest he's nothing like I expected. He trains hard and soaks up what the coaches teach him. He seems like a decent guy, which is a surprise to me. I still don't see who the season winner will be. So far they've all been mediocre.
