    Opening Day buck

Well I got it done here one town over in Rockland county. Shot my biggest buck to date with my Mathews. I kind of feel like I cheated by using my compound. I was practicing all summer with the recurve and I hunted with it from the ground yesterday morning. But for where I went in the afternoon. I needed more definitive accuracy from my bow expecting longer shots than capable with the recurve. With suburban hunting you need to kill that deer. Not have it die on someones lawn with a arrow sticking out of it. The buck gave me the shot I wanted and POW! He ran about 50yards into the thickest hard hack thorn bushes ever. I heard him crash. Measures out at just under 100" at 98". Right main beam was 21" left 19" with a 21" spread. A big 6. I'm happy Kind of anti climatic killing on opening day. But Hey...I'll find a way to deal with it.
  2. Yeah...I saw that post and I was like....What Joe posting on here again? Funny none the less for a 10 year old post.
  3. Thank you William. This was our group, NY Bowhunters volunteering 2 weeks ago at a rehab hospital in our county. We made a lot of smiles that day.
  4. Just a reminder about NH&F day this Saturday. It is a nationwide event. http://www.nhfday.org/Page/Events.aspx
  5. I hope the 14th amendment.
  6. My son Joe...That brat . He is more than ready. Already been out on nuicense hunts. Nailed this 7pt a few weeks ago here on a local nursery. Most nuicense hunts are does olny...But this permit...the antlerless only box was NOT checked

    Never Forget

My sub foreman for 4 years at the Museum, Dennis Moran passed away from a brain tumor a few months ago. He worked on the pile of rubble when the towers fell. Another one bites the dust. Me on left with Realtree hard hat on;), on top of the west vent structure of the 9/11 Museum with Dennis Moran RIP Dennis.

    Never Forget

On this day of remembrance. I wish for all of us to keep in our hearts and prayers those lost on that day. Our lives and country changed forever that day.
  9. Well this Sept 26th is Nat'l Hunting and Fishing day. It is a Nationwide event and click the link to see if there is a event happening in your state by you. http://www.nhfday.org/Page/Events.aspx This is the 4th one we are holding in our county. Each year it gets bigger and bigger. I run the archery portion of the day. Our county Sportsmans Federation here in Rockland county is supplying us with Genisis bows, recurves, arrows and targets. Realtree sent us some stickers and turkey hunting books to give away to the kids the first year, but that was 3 years ago and they have not donated anything since. Many companies have cut back on their giving. So we went out and cut down 400 pieces of bamboo, the two local sporting goods stores we have in this county donated bobbers ,line, hooks and bait. We made cane poles to give away that day to the kids. We also got NYS DEC to declare fishing that day a license free day. This is great way to get the word out that hunting and fishing are not dirty words. With our proximity to NYC...We are expecting protesters to show up. We will have LE present. Hope everyone gets to go to a event and enjoy the day. Here is a pic of my oldest son Joe helping out last year.

  11. I am getting there. Need to hone my 20 yd skills a little better. I made the transition this year to traditional tackle. I am shooting a 1961 Indian Deerslayer 50/28. Using original Bear Cedar arrows and most likely Zwickey or woodman broadheads.. I am prepared to be disappointed and wishing my Matthews was with me when that buck of a lifetime just steps out of range of my recurve. Good Luck to you.

    A new home owner

Congrats Cody. You've built a family and now its time to make a home . Wish you and the family much luck in YOUR home. PS. mark out some of your MAN territory quick! ( garage, basement, shed)
  15. Some very detailed work there. I have about 24 hours worth of ink on my body. Done by famous artists. None of it outdoors related...yet. Much of the ink and equipment used now technologically is way better than the stuff of yesteryear. Safer, more sterile and the artwork is so much better too. Tattooing has now become mainstream in many ways. Even has become part of Americana. Very colorful work.
  16. Done Ruth...Voted for you. Good Luck.
  17. Blahhhhh! I come to suck your blood!:clown: Their antlers do not get big enough to fight with. So thats where the fangs come into play. Straight out herbivores, but with those fangs...Looks like they can eat meat!
  18. Got a box the other day and it was from my Taxidermist in Texas. Rhodes Taxidermy in Kerrville http://www.rhodestaxidermy.com/index.htm From my April trip/hunt to my property in Harper, Texas. I was torn as to do a shoulder mount, but if I did it would destroy the skull for the antler plate. So I went with the hide being tanned and the Euro skull on a plaque. I am loving those fangs! Creepy little critter ain't it? Once in a lifetime free range animal.
  19. What did we do before trail cams? We never knew! Now we know what bears do when no one is watching Cute...Thanks for sharing.
  20. Great pics. Looks like the girls really enjoyed themselves.
  21. I am ready for October! Been seeing good bucks every night coming into our yard looking for the Raspberries growing. Been shooting my bow every weekend.
  22. Oh boy...Prayers out for mom Tim.
  23. Good to hear something positive about that boy. He has been through soo much. Continued prayers.
