I so hope we do not not get a late frost again. Last year we had ZERO apples on almost 30 something trees. A wicked Tornado like storm came whipping through Saturday afternoon. Most of our snow is all melted except northern areas. Its all Trumps fault

Definitely Elk...with the bow during the rut and on the ground. Man does that look exciting! The up close bugling! Take a 150+ Whitetail and a good Bear in my hard hunted land in NY Lower Catskills. I share a property line with a hunting camp. Moose with a Muzzleloader or bow. Hogs out of a chopper shooting full auto! AND! To come home one day and find out that one of my kids cut the lawn without me having to tell them to do it. Yup...I can die now

Thanks everyone. The size of a mature axis is like 1.5 of a whitetail. A Texas whitetail that is. Trophy grade for Axis is 30"+ main beams. I have not come close yet. Big Axis have been shot where I have shot mine, but the land owner/family usually takes the prime pickings. Hey. Axis hunts start in the $1500+ range for high fence. I have been paying zero and getting off with a lunch or two. But since having killed 7 Axis deer throughout the years. I prefer it over whitetail. The meat is sweeter and the antlers are muyo grande. Here is a typical scene where I am hunting Axis. The darker deer are whitetail. The river in the back drop is the Guadalupe. My best Free range Axis.

Hey gang. Just got back from the Texas Hill Country with some meat and a few stories. I had only 6 days to work with. So if I was going to take meat home with me, I had to get it done early in the trip so the processor could have it ready and frozen for the trip home. Where I/we hunt these free range Axis is a incredible spot in Kerrville. So being that they are free range. You take what you can get. Axis Does generally are off limits, Land owner would rather us shoot spikes and velvet bucks and of course, trophy Axis if they show. A $48 non resident 5 day special hunting license is all that is needed. I passed on over 60 Axis deer in 3 sits. I finally settled on a velvet buck who will make some nice eating. These are invasive species and you are doing Texas Whitetail a big service by shooting them. OK. Don't have to tell me 2x ::) Axis deer can have 3 births in 2 years. So you can see Axis bucks in hard horn, velvet and shed.. Depending on when they were born. Not a giant....but free and free range. This is my 9th Axis in 7 years from the same spot. Then we got a call about nuicense hogs at a 2500 acre high fence place in Mountain Home. Hogs been busting through fences, eating feed not for them and taking over feeder sites chasing the critters(Orynx, Sika, Fallow, Auodad, BlackBuck and Trophy Axis) that the ranch owner gets paid big $ for. He wants the hogs gone! The first sitting my cousin and I shot 2 hogs and then the rain came and pinned us in the ground blind for about an hour.We did not even care about recovery and hoofed it back to the truck. It rained for the next 14 hours in Harper ,TX. They got almost 5" of rain! Sat that following evening, nothing. The next morning a good eating 70lb sow showed and I popped it on the spot with the 25.06 Encore. Needless to say we made the landowner very happy by shooting 3 hogs for him. My son Joe and his gal are headed down in March for Rios and hogs. See if they can help our friend out kill some hogs. My only regret is that we didn't have the threaded barrels for our Encores so we could have hunted with the cans on them. Such less scatter from pigs and your able to get more follow up shots on the sounder after dropping the first. But once again Texas does not disappoint. I cannot wait until I retire and move there full time. My Taxes are $6.42 a year right now on my 6.52 aces in Harper. School and county tax.

Thanks Y'all. I have been teasing her since calling her cover girl Heck of a buck no doubt. And to think...she was a vegan before she met my son. She was sold on the organic part. Hope to see lots more of her in my lifetime if you catch my drift. Shes a keeper son.

My sons girlfriend of 2 years now is a cover girl! Sammy made the cover of NY Bowhunters Full Draw magazine with the buck she shot opening day on my property here in Rockland county NY.. I have been teasing her about her buck and how it is all down hill from here shooting something like that for her 1st bow kill. She missed this same buck last year and shot right over him. This year her 75gr Muzzys did the trick. Congrats Sammy!

In NYS Crows are considered migratory and we are only allowed to hunt them Friday- Monday. They have the longest season of any game animal we can hunt in NYS. From Sept1st to March 31st. We shoot a good bunch of them. Here is one of the set ups we use.

Really Corey? Crows cannot be shot in Texas? Wow!...Even NYS has a season on crows. They are fun to shoot with the FoxPro caller.

Most every fall we leave a deer rib cage out in our field for the raptors to feed upon. The crows constantly harass, and do what you described William the immature Eagles and Red Tails that come to feed. We once had a Turkey Vulture devour a fat woodchuck in a matter of minutes. I see a lot of predator/bird behavior in our field because of the carcass we leave just to see the birds.

Oh I hope the bugs are gotten rid of. This site went down hill really quick. Still a few hard core folks around. Hope the new fix fixes it. Current site not posting the pics or letting me access the pics I wish to reclaim

I was watching Sheriff David Clarke before. He summed up all of the events with this statement. Inappropriate behavior that is not punished, will bring more inappropriate behavior. We are a society of laws. This whole movement if you will...is BS.
