I have a Browning. It weighs 750lbs. Has a Omega Point rating of 1400 degrees for 45 minutes. I am satisfied with my safe... just wish I bought a bigger one:rolleyes: Make sure combination dial has a re locking device in case of attack, body of safe to have a port for electric to feed light and dehumidifier inside safe. Concealed hinges are good too.

This is true. The tree does grow and will stretch the straps and even break the ratchet strap teeth to accommodate the growth. If it can't do that it will grow around the stand and most likely reder it useless. I have a few ladder stands and 2 hang ons that I leave up year round. Just check the straps, give them room in the summer, tighten before the season and fill if you could, the hollows of the stands with expanding foam. That way it keeps water and bugs out of the hollows of the stand. A wire brush and some spray paint will help with the rust spots in the off season.

I know this is not the place for non team turkey hunting stories but...I'd like to share something. I was very proud of my sons Joe(16) and AJ(14) this past weekend on AJ's youth turkey hunt here in NY. It brought a tear to my eye watching my boys get in position and set up on a gobbler. AJ did not shoot a bird, but a Jake came in range but there were too many saplings in the way and he elected not to shoot. Joes calling was superb and was beaming with pride as I watched my boys in action. This is what I have dreamed about when I thought about having kids. I was blessed with 3 sons. I can't wait to do it again next weekend. It was one of the BEST times I have ever spent afield with my sons. Next weekend my little guy Michael(11) comes too. I will be in living a dream hunting with all 3 of my sons. Life is good. -

What I understand the issue to be with used cooking oil for fuel is.... You would have to start the vehicle with regular diesel, run it a bit then switch the fuel tank to the bio diesel and your good to go. When you have to shut the vehicle, you have to switch fuel tanks again, back to the regular diesel. Get the regular diesel in the fuel lines then shut off the vehicle. The cooking oil congeals too much with low temps unless there is a fuel tank pre heater. But Ahhh Yes, it would be nice to have free fuel. But how long will it be free once it has a value to it?
-
With restaurants paying to get rid of used cooking oil. It would make sense to convert a diesel to Bio-diesel or some sort of other renewable oil. Think about it... Free fuel and you could drive all you want without regard for fuel prices. There some hitches with cooking oil as fuel. It is not perfect.

Boy is that ever a reason to be careful and safe. What a tragedy. Prayers out to all involved.

I have always said this too. That way I will always be hunting with my kids/grandkids. I don't think the state will let family bury family on family property. Ironically, my best deer stand is right next to a cemetery. I have vacated that stand in the past due to funerals being held while I was on stand. I did not want to be tempted to shoot a good buck while services were being performed. I get the local paper a day before to see who died now to know what stand I will be hunting:D

Lots of smiles...Glad you guys had a great time. Tim Andrus...The ACTIVE Realtree prostaffer. The man gets around!

I can understand completely what you are going through. We have land in Sullivan county and get to it on weekends almost always. Trespassers, litterers and druggies like to do their thing on and near our land, so we find loads of crap dumped, bottles broken, little plastic bags ect all the time. I have become active in the community up there and I have many eyes on the place up there now. So I get calls when things are not right. The best you can do is, keep a strong of a presence as you can, and ask the neighbors to look out as much they can. Even if you don't have a camera, put up a sign that says " smile, you are on video" They might think there is a camera there, but they will never know. Good Luck Frank.

Thats a nice buck Joe. Too bad he bit the dust that way. Skull will be nice for the cabin wall though.

Welcome to the forums:) Turkey hunting Hmmm. What a dang good hobby:D I am not familiar with the Beretta ES100. Most of what Beretta makes in shotguns are semi auto. What size chamber is the gun? Does it take 3" shells? Most likely don't take 3 1/2" You want to hunt turkey with at least 3" loads and with a gun that takes a removable choke to install a extra full of full turkey choke. The Mossberg 835 and the Remington 870 are 2 great shotguns that can be had for under $300 and they are just the ticket for turkey hunting. The 3 1/2" loads give you the capability to shoot accurately out to 40-50 yards for turkey with the right loads. Good Luck.

I would have loved to incorporate camo in my wedding. Lucky you! Good Luck and can't wait to see the pics. I could be wrong, but I do not think Realtree would have a problem with what you are doing. As long as you are not making money off it or slandering Realtree in any way. Heck...I'd ask them to sponsor the wedding:D It would make a great commercial on Outdoor channel:p

Frank, I am glad your generator worked the way you had hoped! I cherish the moments my sons hunt and fish with me. Your a good son. Keep creating memories. You can't buy those! -
What I did was spread out the tail fan removing as much as the fat around the tail as you can. Then used 6 penny finishing nails to keep the tail spread out on a board and I kept changing the salt on the tail to dry it out. Then I took a round section of wood. In these cases I used Cherry for good grain. I cut the round in half, cut the middle out with a sawzall ( like making a napkin holder) stained it all . When the tail was dried out, I placed the tail fan in the hollow area and glued it to the bottom with hot melt. The depth you may want to work as to cover the little feathers in the holder. Before hand I took a 3/8" bit and drilled a small hole on the bottom about 1/2" deep to set and glue the beard. Fastend a picture hanger on the back and wallaa! If you would like to go a bit farther. I took the shell I used and stuck and glued the leg with spur in the shell and glued that also to the turkey tail mount. The finished products. One is in my hobby room and the other is the wall at our hunting camp. Buy a turkey tail mount. See how they made it. Duplicate it and bring it back! That is how I got the shapes and ideas for the antler/turkey plaques that I make:D.
