Team FFA (Full Fan Assasins)....Turkey team #12
Adjam5 replied to Strut10's topic in Announcements & Online Contests
I will be up at our camp this weekend, liming my apple trees and maybe tilling/fertilizing a small plot. I Just serviced all the fluids in my Kodiak, put on a winch and back up it goes to camp, it needs tires:rolleyes:. I will be on the lookout for turkey during my weekend crow hunts. I'll check in with my farmer neighbor if he has been hearing gobbles in the AM, and I can't forget to bring the .22mag...the groundhogs should be showing up too:D. I also hope to finish reading my 3rd Ishi book. Ishi's Brain; This mans life was amazing. Have a great weekend everyone! Anthony -

Here are the javelina skulls and antlers we found while turkey hunting Iraan, Texas a few weeks ago. UPS just delivered them yesterday. The muley on the plaque is not sized right. I have to fix it. The skull cap split during shipping from Kerrville. That muley died hung up on a wire fence with his left rear leg. I took his head and capped him at camp. The forkhorn is also a muley. It was found dead in a dry gulley. More sheds were found on our journey as well as arrowheads throughout the desert.

If Mr. Keck quit out of loyalty to his buddies, that is a quality seldom seem today. I am sure he is financially secure and would not cut off his nose to spite his face. He'll land on his feet. He just about singlehandedly restored the Meleagris gallopavo silvestris to was it is across North America. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't even know what that word was. Good Luck Mr Keck, and thank you for all you have done for our turkey world across the United States. PS If you need a place to hunt now...I know a few spots. Give me a shout;)

Our USDA has set allowable levels of filth in our food. There are allowable level of bug parts, roach/vermin droppings and rodent hair for OUR food! Hot dogs are the worst with what is in them. Our county posts a monthly list of all food service violations, most all of them always are Chinese restaurants.

Good luck with the new endeavor Al. Wish you and the Mrs. all the best. Hey Al, little league is starting up soon. How about advertising on the outfield walls of the fields? Many leagues use that as a way to raise funds and get local business' exposure. PLUS...the kids see it and bug the crap out of the parents to play. Maybe give a free play to the All star team or division champs for promotion and something for the kids to shoot( no pun intended:D) for. Good Luck...

Welcome to the board Tyler! Thats a nice Bobcat there. I trap also. My trapping was born out of having my trash cans knocked over every night by coons and possums. I took my trapping course( which you have to do in NYS:rolleyes:) and I no longer have trash can problems:D I did trap a nice 60 something pound beaver this December. I am waiting for it to come back from the tannery. Have fun...Looking forward to other posts of yours!

Cool pics thanks for sharing! I love eagles!

I have found my semi auto is finicky with light loads also. My Franchi does the same thing with light loads. Fails to eject. Field loads no problem...skeet loads...problems

Hope Mom hangs in there. Prayers on their way.

Ain't that the truth:D

If you find that sweet load your gun likes...50 yards is "possible" with 3 1/2" loads and a good choke of .675-.690 But at 40 yards and under, every time...your smokin' that Tom with those sweet loads.

Make sure you protect the saplings! Fence them. Rabbits will eat the bark and deer will eat the buds clean. Those are big causes for apple trees to slow grow. Cross pollination, as mentioned; is a factor too. Lime the crap out of them and stay on the pruning.

Joe, I have approx 20 very old apple trees on our property in Sullivan county. They were all over grown and small producers until I tweaked them a bit. All up growing shoots got trimmed in February, very important. All branches that crossed other branches, the smaller ones were cut. Trees that stole the sunlight from them were cut down or back. I drove fertilizer spikes all around the trees and spread, lime, 10-10-10 all over the drip line too. I do this every year. The trees get my left over food plot fertilizer and lime; and these trees are wonderful producers now. It took me almost 5 years to get them into shape and my tree stand and ground blind in the orchard are the hottest spots on the property. I have a real scraggly looking apple tree with only one trunk and MAN that tree grows some of the best apples I have ever tasted. The green ones(maybe granny smith), but not that large. Smaller than baseballs but bigger than golf balls. The turkeys love 'em too. Good Luck!

Great gun to get started with and it has the capability to grow with it. The stock can be changed for adult sizes, Mossberg gives you a 1/2 off coupon on the adult size stock when you are ready. The Mossberg is a tough gun too, you will get years of use from it. Great deal for the money

If you do a lot of bow hunting take a hard look at the Summit Broadhead backpacker. It has a open front which I LOVE for bow hunting. I draw and shoot most times sitting down. The seat is very comfortable, I have sat all day in it. Easy to put together and fairly light too. I think it is about 20 lbs or so. It fold flat on your back to carry, no big triangles to tote around. AND....Its a Summit. I have seen them for sale in the $200- 240 range

Prayers sent from here.

I have seen this before and it IS very moving. God Bless our troops.

The porting( holes drilled near end of barrel) takes some of the recoil out of the shot. It expends the gases to the left and right of the shooter to "port" the gases and ease recoil. With minimum velocity loss. You always want a choke tube in the shotgun... unless the crazies are storming your castle. ALWAYS use a choke tube when you shoot that gun. You can damage/ruin the threads in the barrel that threads into the choke tubes and you will NOT get good patterns without a choke. These are the most common chokes; Improved cyl, the least restricted of all the chokes for Forster type(rifled slugs) and wide open patterns, maybe skeet and trap. Modified choke, more restricted that the improved. Wing/bird shooting and tighter patterns. Full Choke, definitely more restricted that each of the others. Full or extra full is for tight groups that you'd aim with, not point. Example... turkey.

The amount of high fence ranches are astounding, and a true indicator of how much people like them. Or else they would not be in business. Not the type of hunting I'd enjoy, but if it is legal and it works for you...go get 'em.

On these electric vehicles...is it a consideration to install solar panels on the roof, or panels with a cord to charge while in/out use? Solar charging might make the miles endless depending on terrain.
