I dug these 2 out of my safe to oil them up a bit and cuddle them The AR can shoot way better than I can and the Cetme will put .308's in a 4" circle at 100 yards with open sights. The AR is a Bushmaster lower with a Colt upper 1:9 twist topped with a 6-24X50 IR rangefinding drop reticle scope. Fer rootin tootin varmints! I am looking for scope mounts for the Cetme. I need the Stanag type mounts I think. They clamp to the receiver with cam lobes locking it in. For a .308 that Cetme has very little kick, the HK gas operation is sweet. The MP5 sub-gun was born from this action. A definite do buy if you come accross one. Even better, but more expensive is the HK G3, the same gun as the Cetme but made by HK. The Cetme came 1st. Designed by German armorers in Spain back in the 50's. When Germany was allowed to have a army again, the old Mauser engineers( including Ludwig Vorgrimmler) moved back to Germany and Licensed the Cetme( Central Estudios Technicas Mechanicos Espana) and HK started production as the G3. These are just 2 of my "Terrorist guns"

Re: Is there any rifle scopes made in America? I believe that products need to be atleast 75% domestically made in order to be called "made in America"...But who knows...and whos gonna check Weaver I think has most, if not all of their stuff made in the Phillipines. Unertl is top of the line sniper equipment made here and our troops use them. I do think Nightforce is Australian. I know T/C scopes are made in Korea. Japan makes good quality optics and I would consider Nikon too. I am all for the domestic purchases, but one could go crazy looking for 100% domestically made products now a days. Leupold states" made right...made here" That tells me "made in USA"

Re: FFL Transfer Fee If a buy was gonna take place...would it be prudent to run the NICS BEFORE the shipping of the gun is done? That way if there is a denial, its just a few calls that were made and not a nightmare of a purchase and paperwork for the dealer. Is that feasible? Also...is it up to a FFL holder to charge for a transfer? Can they do it for free? Or is it a mandatory fee that the gov't charges for the NICS check? Thanks.

Just sent my 835 back to Mossberg for service
Adjam5 replied to Adjam5's topic in Shotguns & Accessories
Re: Just sent my 835 back to Mossberg for service Here is a pic of the older 835 and the new one. I tried some of that snake skin camo on it. It shrinks with a blow dryer... I only did the bbl and it came out OK...but I don't think I'm gonna do the rest of the gun myself. The vent rib was tented by the shrink, so most likely it will rip on a trip in the woods. If I do camo it, I'm gonna send it out to get dipped. Maybe by www.tarjac.com That was the ONLY camo offered at the time when I got the older 835..green spray paint. -
Re: Mossberg 835/935? I am a 835 fan no doubt.. Have 2 of 'em. One is a older model (circa 91 or so) 24"bbl and the other I bought a few weeks ago, all black for $175 at Gander Mtn, current production 28" bbl. They are running a special right now on a 835 package that you get 2 bbls(24" turkey and 28" waterfowler) for $299, the gun is all matte black. Thats a good deal. All of the newer 835's are ported, so that will give some relief to shooting those 3 1/2" shells. But I have always turkey hunted with 3" shells... seeing No need for the shoulder busters. Call 'em in close and you could use a .410! 3 1/2's are punishing, but you never feel it when the bird is right in front of you. If you are recoil sensitive I would reccomend the auto loader or if you do ALOT of shotgunning( doves, skeet, clays) the auto would seem like the logical choice. I think either wil serve you well and they are durable and affordably priced performers. I have No experience with the 935. My auto loader is a Beretta AL390 Silver Mallard. Good Luck!

Yesterday my oldest boy and I went out to chase some crows...No luck with our stands, but we did have activity and could not get the crows any closer. I use a crow deke standing over a old wig and I put ketchup all around the snow for detail. We have had good success in the past, but maybe these birds smartened up a bit. We use the Foxpro FX16 electronic caller and it works! Anyway...I threw on a Tyvek suit over my clothes, coved the blue tyvek label on the chest and went out with it as camo. I think these suits are great for snow camo and the whiteout that it provides is incredible. If you have access to these type of suits at work or if they are availible near you, look into them for snow camo. Here is a pic to see what I mean.

Re: Turkey Pics & Videos Some more pics and vids from our yard yesterday. We back up to a old, closed inactive reservior that is wooded all around it. It is unaccessable public land Oxymoron if you ask me. But we have access...thru our yard! There are a few anti's around...so operations are covert One vid..they are on the fence and another is one my neighbors shed roof. They come for the bird seed that the squirrells spill out all over. This morning, we saw them fly down from the roost and head right for our yard. I leave the gate open so they could walk thru easily. Our property goes back another 50yards from the fence. we fenced when we moved in 10 years ago to keep the little kiddies in the yard. Joe and the other boys are not so little anymore, so the fence stays open. Hey...It just hit me...I could run a high fence operation here. Our yard and the woods behind are teeming with wildlife. http://s9.photobucket.com/albums/a100/ADja...eyinvasion1.flv http://s9.photobucket.com/albums/a100/ADja...eyinvasion3.flv http://s9.photobucket.com/albums/a100/ADja...eyinvasion4.flv http://s9.photobucket.com/albums/a100/ADja...eyinvasion5.flv

Re: Jim Zumbo\'s anti comments!! Most everyone has expressed some sort of displeasure with Zumbo. There are 2 ways to go with this. He can either be ostacized form the hunting/shooting world, or he can re invent himself as Zumbo 2.0 and lead the charge up the capital to beat back HR1022. It would be nice if he started doing print ads, commecials and speaking engagements in support of the 2nd amendmant. Working the NRA-ILA to further our cause. Zumbo needs to make the anti's blood curdle the way OURS did when we heard his ignorant comments by his reversal and re education. I am very bothered by what Zumbo did, but we have to move forward and start doing damage control. As some have said before...I will say it again. If ANYONE had time to post on Zumbo, you BETTER have had time to contact your legislators to oppose HR1022. If we all came out of the woodwork the way we did about Zumbo 's comments...then beating back HR1022 should be a piece of cake

Re: camo on a shotgun I like the camo finish's too but I wonder if they are worth the usual $150-200 to get it done. Like the ones www.tarjac.com do.

Just sent my 835 back to Mossberg for service
Adjam5 replied to Adjam5's topic in Shotguns & Accessories
Re: Just sent my 835 back to Mossberg for service Got the 835 back yesterday. I had it ported $35 and had the current factory fiber sights put on it $20. They did not charge to fix the safety. The whole gun was gone over and sent back. The early 835's were not ported and came with crappy sights. Heck they did not even have the fullcamo process availible like www.tarjac.com back then. All they had was green spray paint on the gun. I put a camo sticker on the receiver that did not stay. see pic, my son and I, 2 years ago chasing turkeys. My son has a .20ga Mossberg 500 youth. I have since bought another 835 3 weeks ago, Gander Mtn said it was used, but the box was damaged and the papers were lost on it, so they put it out as used I got it for $175. All black, ported from the factory but also with crappy sights. I put a Tru glo red dot on it, but I am wishing it was camo'd...no big deal...I'm sure it will kill birds none the less My son can now shoot the 12ga comfortably, so it made sense to get another 835 since he is always taking mine -

Re: Jim Zumbo\'s anti comments!! [ QUOTE ] For all of the bashing that Uncle Ted takes here and elsewhere, I'm glad to see him take in Jim Zumbo. He is doing what all sportmen should do, educating the ignorant so that they may see the light. Jim Zumbo can overcome this and be a great crusader for the 2nd ammendment with a little education. [/ QUOTE ] Joe I agree...Uncle Ted should set him straight. But it would be some makeover for a 67 year old man to go from the conservative "grand dad type hunter" to playing "Wango Tango" with the Nuge. I really do hope good things come out of this and OUR liberties are NOT further chipped away beacuse of a thoughtless comment. I'll bet ya that MANY others in the outdoors have chosen to educate themselves on this issue and the feeling of shooters and Americans everywhere. Crap is everywhere...make sure you don't step in it. Its very easy. I hope Zumbo makes a rebound...for his sake and ours.

Re: Turkey Pics & Videos [ QUOTE ] nice pics it doesn't look like you should have any trouble getting a bird this spring. [/ QUOTE ] Sure.... as long as the antis that live next door keep their mouth shut It would be PERFECT if they did not live next door. I'm sure they feel the same way Go get 'em Joe!

Re: 3 OR 3 1/2 I have always shot 3" out of my older 835. Just picked up a newer 835 a few weeks ago and also bought some 3 1/2" Wichester Supreme shells for turkey to try out. This new 835 is ported. The older models were not. It might make it a bit lighter on the shouder.
