That is scary and funny at the same time. That was one lucky boarder.

Very good job there Jeramie and Mrs too! Sweat equity cannot be bought. You guys earned that big time. One thing too about doing lots of work to "your" home. That connection is made. It is when a house become a home and the memories start to build. Enjoy your hard work and make the most of your time afield this fall. Lord knows you've earned it.

Welcome...Hunt safe this fall.

Awesome...Congrats! Hope Momma is doing well.

The most I have driven is a hour and a half. I either hunt walking out the backdoor of my primary home or drive 62 miles to my country house property in NY's lower Catskill Mtns.

A few weeks ago I shot a woodchuck and left it out in our field on a rock. It didnt take long and a Turkey Vulture was on it. Here comes along this hen turkey looking at the Vulture trying to get it to interact. The Vulture was not in the mood to socialize, it was hungry. The Hen looked quite confused on why it wasn't responding to puts and clucks. Hey I'm a bird...Your a bird. We both have Turkey in our names. Whadda you say? Thought it was interesting video to share.

No ice here yet, 58* here this am...But trees are losing leaves fast and cover for tree stands is being eliminated. Not to mention the acorns that have grown, are dropping early due to the high winds we have had. Winter is coming in like a lion.

Yeah I guess we all get the honey do list before we are off to the woods. But I must admit...I have 3 sons who pick up the slack here greatly. I try to make sure everything she needs is in order before I take off for camp. She likes it when I go away. No snoring, no hairy legs to rub against her while sleeping...she gets the bed all to herself .

Happy Birthday Mike... May you have one hundred more.

Nope...I grow a beard for deer hunting season and drive my wife crazy. She hates it.

A few years ago I was heading to my bowstand in a apple orchard on a afternoon hunt. About 50 yards from my stand, I find a monster pile of bear scat on the trail. Now I was getting bear pics on the trail cam and a few of my apple trees were busted up pretty good from a bear. I look around...nothing. I get up into my stand and settle in. About an hour into the hunt...A few doe and a forkhorn come out and start chomping apples. I am watching them and they pick their heads up and stare right in my direction, but beyond me. The doe did the foot stomp thing a few times, blows and they all take off like the wind. I start hearing leaves rustling and its getting louder. This noise was coming from behind me...down wind. Now my mind starts to get crazy. This is what scared the deer off... and it has to smell me I am upwind! Its not afraid. Its that bear! Oh man...the leaf rustling is right under me now. I am afraid to breathe or move. In NYS you are not allowed to have a firearm with you in bow season. Even if you have a carry permit. The noise is getting louder...I am afraid to breathe...gasping. (in my mind its gonna climb right up the ladder to follow my scent). Ya ready...Here comes a flock of turkeys. I busted out laughing so hard they all spooked. But that excitement and adrenaline was something I will soon not forget. BTW...I have more bear pics on the trail cam this year. So it might happen again! But this time I am ready and will breathe .

Thanks guys. I am so looking forward to have this day to expose others to the outdoors. Click on the link above and see if your area is having an event that celebrrates Nat'l Hunting and Fishing day.

Hey...the worms need to eat too.

This Saturday is Nat'l Hunting and Fishing day. Home - National Hunting and Fishing Day See if there is an event happening by you! The Sportsmens Federation that I belong to here in my county, is hosting a BIG event to promote hunting and fishing and all things outdoors. We have the town Supervisor on board and NYS DEC also. I am quite excited about this opportunity to expose others to our world. Kids will have the ability to make their own cane pole(and keep it) to fish with right there in the park with donated hooks, bobbers and worms. Where I live is about 40 miles from NYC. So you can imagine the small mindedness and misinformation we encounter when it comes to hunting, fishing and trapping. We also expect a few protesters. You know...people who think animals have rights...Yeah...Those kind. To be there. But this is a town sanctioned and sponsored event. So any interuptions or intervention will be dealt with by law enforcement. I, as a county Rep for NY Bowhunters. Have been asked to lead and coordinate the archery instruction with a few volenteers from NYB helping out. We have about 7 Mathews Genesis bows for kids to shoot. This is our county's first event of this kind and we are hoping other towns will want this happening in their town next year. We have some great sponsors and I would really Like to thank Team Realtree for their help. Thanks to you too Scott! So on this coming Saturday, see if you can expose someone new to hunting and fishing. Help pass it on.

You stole my line Shoobee... Humans are noisy creatures. Our feet are flat and cover a lot of ground. We are the only species that walks with intent to get someplace. Animals dont live by a watch/clock like us. They are trying to survive. Time means nothing to them. Our pace when we walk, unless when we are stalking...is brisk. Animals will usually get out of dodge because of our scent and the non familiar noise we make when we walk in the woods. Mammals anyway. Yes, there is the snake danger if you live/hunt in snake country. I have paths to my stands that have been beaten down with the four wheeler and mowed. For gun season, I rake my trail to get in quiet. It works. Animals will also use that path because they wish to be quiet also. Don't be a fraidy cat:p
