  1. I sure hope you have your rigging license John...Your gonna need a HUGE crane to get that limb off your lawn. Hmmm...Maybe insurance can help? Glad it passed you by.

    excited

Welcome to the forums. We dont start here in the NY's southern zone until October 1st. This is the 1st time ever we are starting so early here. I try to fling a few dozen arrows each weekend. Trying to get good enough to hunt with my recurve this season.
  3. Ahhh Yes...Tink. A very nice man. I was fortunate to have been over his home 3 years ago, had lunch and got to hear some great hunting stories about himself, Ben Pearson, Fred Bear and Howard Hill. He uses the same meat processor I use in the Texas Hill country(when I am down there) and from what I have heard(last Feb) he is doing well. In fairly good health and on the prowl for a new gal pal. I don't do facebook, but I am planning on dropping by his place when I am in Kerrville this winter. The man is a walking history lesson. I think a few folks on here(not around anymore) gave him some grief about his scents(he didn't even own the company anymore) and he took offense and split.

    Gun cabinets

I agree Cody. The Stack on gun cabinets are the most affordable. They keep out tampering hands, curious minds and honest folks. The safe is a bit more security effective and a great investment when you are able to do it.

    My new ride

Congrats Lewis...That is a nice truck. My son Joe has a 04Ram 1500 with 165k on it and it is still as strong as it was new. Good Luck with it.

    youth hunter

The 7mm-08 and the .243 are based on the .308 cartridge. Any of the 3 aforementioned will kill deer cleanly. Rule is... usually any bullet that maintain 1000lbs of energy at 100 yards is enough to clean deer sized game. The .243 is light recoiling and offers a good variety of bullet weights.
  7. Sorry about your losses. My Pop went out with COPD...I know what you were dealing with. Your Mom and Aunt ARE in a better place. Glad to see ya around again. Good Luck this Fall.

    About that time

I ain't wishing you luck Ben...The animals just give up when you enter the woods. Have fun and dress warm.

    New House

Nice looking home. Enjoy it. Nothing like a slice of your own heaven. Congrats! I see you already have deer on your lawn
  12. Hey...Lots of people when they think bait they think food. Think water in dry/hot areas. My buddy in West Texas buried a few large plastic tubs and fills them with water that he brings out with his 4 wheeler. The deer flock to it. The proof is the trail cam pics he has with the does fighting over space at the trough. Like William said...Water. The key to all life...and in this case. Possibly the key to death also:)
  13. You have worked hard for this Kyle...Congratulations. I wish you the best. Your family is most likely more happy than you are. Great news.
  14. Happy Birthday Kirk.
  15. Holy macaroni! Man are you putting the hurtin on them critters! Congrats. Has this year been your personal best?
  16. Sad Part is that the Police wounded about 9 innocents trying to stop the shooter. That part of NYC is so crowded during that time in the morning it would be almost impossible to shoot back at a perp and not have any side casualties.
  17. I have held my bow at full draw on my knees(during a stalk) for what felt like hours...Most likely...was only a minute or two. But, times like that you really appreciate the 80% let off. I got busted letting down and the deer took off. If I had been hunting with my recurve, I probobly would have snap shot it and wouldn't have taken the time like you do with a compound bow to draw, aim, settle pin and release. Instinctive shooting has its advantages.
  18. One thing you can prepare for then is to see if your state offers lifetime hunting licenses. They are usually much cheaper when purchased before the children get up in age. Like 5 and under here in NY is like $250. Then from 6-9 they are like $500 and after 9, you pay the adult price of $750. These are lifetime hunting licenses that will keep on giving for a lifetime. Something you and your husband should consider. I bought them for my 3 sons when they were born. Now they are grown up and thank me each season because they are immune from tag price increases and their seasonal tags come in the mail.
  19. That bites William. I have known soda(cola) to be quite detrimental to a cars paint job. Sugar can dry like rust, especially cola and the morning dew can possibly melt/dilute it to disappear. Hope it is something the dealer can assist you with in taking care of it.

    Double the Moron

There hasn't been a moronization in quite some time around here. Congrats Cory! Keep on posting...
  21. I have sat through Hunter ed 5x. One time alone for myself in 1986, then with each of my 3 sons, and once with a friend. Safety is paramount when carrying weapons and climbing trees. Get yourself a good harness if you will be hunting out of trees and take nothing for granted. Above all. Have fun.
  22. Mainly...the weather is always on until I/we walk out the house into the woods. But... This one always gets me pumped up for hunting. And this one.

    First class

I just want to say this...I have no class what so ever:D
  24. Looking forward to it Tim. Good Luck!
  25. I agree that advertisements and products being pushed on hunting shows are quite annoying. But we must keep this in mind. This is how that world turns. Sponsors make it all happen for our favorite hunting personalities. Heck... None of us would know who Michael Waddell was if Realtree didn't sponsor him. Ads are a necessary evil to producing these shows. Many shows are over the top with this. I don't know of any hunting show that is a "how to" show. Most are just filmed exploits of famous hunting personalities. Shows that show doe shooting and coyote killing while deer hunting interest me the most. Fred Eichler and Inside Outdoors seem to do this the most. 2 of my favs.
